My favorite place to eat since 1988.

Fun Fact: most people (natives that is like me) don't ever eat( or hardly ever, at the bbq joints here in Lockhart. The reason being that over the years families here retained the BBQ techniques brought over from German Czech colonists. Every old family in Lockhart has at least one pitmaster that can make backyard bbq that rivals the restaurants. Its Christmas 2022 and we just BBQ'd lechon, chicken brisket and sausage. Its a bit harder to find as the families are aging and lots of younger generations left town years ago. The town is getting bigger, and being populated by outsiders that rely on the restaurants. Lockhart is changing, and becoming a microcosm of Austin's hipster culture. So much so that we even got a Terry Black's BBQ joint.. I will do my best to pass on the tradition in my family.

Best barbecue anywhere. When I worked in Austin I would make the trip to Lockhart several times a week.

I swear I could smell that BBQ smoke as the owner was showing that 300lb lid on his pit. BBQ Heaven!

We were in Lockhart a few years back doing some touristing and visited Black's, Kreuz, and Smitty's. All are local institutions. On the recommendation of a local merchant, we chose Black's. It was a good choice. The Brisket and Beef Ribs were the best I've ever had and spoiled me for all other BBQ.

Went there yesterday, and no one talks about prices on these videos and Blacks bbq prices are too steep, 1 beef rib for $40? That is outrageous! I love my Pappas bbq, their prices are way reasonable and all sides are included!!

I was there last week. A bucket list check off. Everything was awesome, except the beef rib I got. I was sorely disappointed in that. Mostly fat. . . But, oh well!

The strength not to eat that scrumptious looking sausage is phenomenal. 💪

I've been there once... was worth the nearly 5 hours to get there. The sausage was great, and the ribs were great. The only disappointment was that by the time we got to order, they only had lean cuts of brisket left. So if you're gonna go get there as early as possible.

I would travel from Germany just for this shop the food looks fabulous. On the other hand, the furnishings and parts of the kitchen are very old and not well maintained. The owner should spend some money and renovate the house.

My friend and I stopped at Blacks' after the F1 Race in Austin in 2022. Blacks was good BBQ (I'm from KC so I feel I've had better. ha) but that sausage was the best sausage I've ever had in my life.

I've watched plenty of 'bbq' videos and they never mention or have been to Lockhart or Luling. They always go to Austin or (God forbid) Dallas/Houston.

He needs to embrace some change because his nephews’ restaurant, Terry Blacks, is MUCH better.

It's not all that the pork ribs have no taste the brisket had a little smoke ring and the beef Dino ribs were really good the sides were nasty my wife and I drove there just to try it all most 80 dollars later not happy but to each his own
