"Dark Side of Love" was an early demo of "No Stranger to Love". Weirdly, it is not listed on any of the real or fake Jeff Fenholt demos (Yes, fakes exist). Sounds legit to me though, so enjoy!

Dark side of love Promise my all Now that you're gone I'm broken apart I'll take my place The dark side of love Gave you my heart You warmed my soul How can I (???) (???) That's it my fate Destiny call The dark side of love It's taking it's call Making my heart Losing control I'll make my way Alone in the cold On the dark side of love Dark side of love Deep in the pain Shadows again (???) I have always liked this song and like this version with Jeff Fenholt too. Jeff Fenholt can belt it out with range and power.

Just 4 the record......Involvement with Tony Iommi/Black Sabbath "Jeff Fenholt sang on some recordings for Tony Iommi in (19)85 in (Los Angeles). Tony was looking for a singer for what was supposed to be his "solo" album. Jeff came down and worked in the studio from Jan-May. That project became the "Seventh Star", "Black Sabbath" album with Glenn Hughes on vocals, and my first album. That's pretty much all there is to the story. Jeff had an awesome voice but it just didn't work out." -Eric Singer

To put an even-finer point on Fenholt's claims of being "The lead singer of Black Sabbath" briefly, Iommi said a couple years ago, on That Metal Show, that since Seventh Star was supposed to be his solo album, that Glenn Hughes was never actually a member of Black Sabbath. Tony SAID that: "Glenn was never IN Black Sabbath." Take THAT Jeff Fenholt. I DO give Fenholt props for being the original Broadway Jesus in JCS... until he blew out his voice and was replaced by his understudy... a little Texan named Ted Neely! In truth, I was always surprised that Neely never wound up in the Sabbath/Purple/Whitesnake/Rainbow galaxy somewhere.

Yeah it really was a solo record with session musicians. He folded under the record company pressure. But even anything post Born Again was kind of like that, just a revolving door. I think that Tony Martin took it seriously and tried to keep everyone together (Geoff too) but he ended up getting treated poorly.

I'm pretty sure they did play a few shows as Black Sabbath with Glenn Hughes on vocals. So I think it counts as him being in the band. I wouldn't count Fenholt, though.

The chorus on the album is way cooler. It makes the song. I'm waiting for "living in the streets..." in vain. This version goes nowhere. Thanks for posting though. I'm reading Iommi's book right now.

+bass guitar Yup. I was thinking the same thing. The band know what to do with the music but Fenholt is just wailing nonstop.

I know I've explained this at least twice elsewhere on here, but here goes... Fenholt tried out to be the singer on what was going to be Iommi's first solo album. He obviously wasn't very good when it came to creating lyrics to the music and got canned. Then Iommi began working with Glenn Hughes and the result was "Seventh Star". The record companies pressured Iommi into using the Sabbath name on that album, and only then was it a Sabbath project. Fenholt was never in Black Sabbath.

I met Jeff at a Stephen Baldwin movie premier. We sat at his table & people kept introducing him as the old singer for black sabbath, I could tell it started to really annoy him.

Actually Jeff is a very straight up guy. I was just talking with him today. He regrets some of his comments or the confusion that ensued and I think if he would have just said that he "auditioned for Sabbath" or Iommi...OR...perhaps if he would have said that he "did some demos with Tony Iommi" it would have been easier to reconcile, but people ran with it once the Sabbath connection was made. It's actually one of the reasons he has spent the last couple years regrouping.
@44skins
@44skins 6 лет назад
deadbeatdad I use to watch TBN back in the 90s ALL THE TIME. Fenholt consistently led people to believe he was LEAD singer for Sabbath and Whitesnake! Every time Paul Crouch introduced him, which was all the time, he introduced Jeff as THE FORMER lead singer of those groups! Jeff would take the microphone and would embellish the heck out of that! He had a million opportunities to "clear that up" but just kept stoking the fires!
@kerrlrod
@kerrlrod 16 лет назад
I know. In fact Iommi says nobody even asked him about using the Sabbath name and they just released the album with it which surprised him. But Since Seventh Star had been released that way, he released Eternal Idol and Headless Cross and Tyr and whatever else as Sabbath even though it was just him. But those are actually damn good albums

Similar to Glenn Hughes in terms of sound and technique. Too bad he quit music to be a preacher because I'm sure with that voice he would've hooked up with someone and made some quality music.

@MultiMeli123 End up how? Please clarify. From all the stuff I've seen posted by other artists, Dio seemed to be quite the model human being; a good, devoted friend, and one of the nicest artists in the entire music industry. Not saying he was perfect, but he certainly isn't a liar like Fenholt is. Besides that, everyone dies. To suggest that any higher power had anything to do with this is sheer idiocy. Fenholt could get hit by a bus tomorrow and Dio would still have outlived him.

TYR was an exellent, albeit over looked lp. The best of the Martin era. Have to admidt at the time I sold Jeff Martin a little short. Looking back his Sabbath contributions were pretty good. I guess at the time I had grown weary of all ths drama and chandes on the mic. I was very dissappointed when Ronnie left. IMHOP that was the best hard/rock band ever. When I heard Born Again I was excited about the potential for the band. I have always liked the Seventh Star lp but I knew that their glory

I'll give Fenholt credit for his singing ability, but his range is stiff and lazy and lyrics go nowhere.
@derekwilkinson6920
@derekwilkinson6920 4 года назад
@@dougbennett8592 His voice may not have been used for the heavy style of Black Sabbath. Also Tony Iommi said that Jeff was unable to ad lib lyrics during jams and that was why he wasn't hired. This may have been the case with this song. at this point it may not have been finished and Jeff just unable to add any more lyrics to it.

@pig66pv You seem to be implying that Fenholt actually wrote the music that appeared on Seventh Star. That's 100% wrong. Fenholt's only contributions are the shitty vocals/melodies that you hear on these demos, none of which were used on the final product that became Seventh Star. Iommi had the music written already, with help from Geoff Nicholls. So, what would Fenholt be able to sue for, besides absolutely nothing? Great point though......oh wait, you didn't make any valid points. Fail.

I went to see Fenholt once at a youth conference when I was 15. He told stories about him, Geezer Butler and all these other 70's rock icons like he was best friends with them. I think he uses that to up his status with the Jesus people. But seriously the guys full of shit if you ask me.
