Children of the Sea from the same album. It was the first song they recorded with Dio and it is AMAZING!!!!! Iommi's power chords kick your teeth in. My fav Dio era Sabbath tune.
Dio also was vocals for a band called Rainbow , which was Richie Blackmore from Deep Purple creation. They have songs worth a listen for sure , my favorite is Man on the Silver Mountain.
Heaven and Hell is a great song from Black Sabbath from the 1980 album of the same name. What makes it for me is the fantastic bass and riff, not forgetting the fabulous vocals of Ronnie James Dio. He was the vocalist for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow for a time, you reacted to Stargazer, if you remember, guys. He had some great solo albums too, a couple of my favourite songs from them are Last in Line and Rainbow in the Dark. All the lyrics of Heaven and Hell were written by Dio. He said in an interview that the song is about each human being's ability to choose between doing good and doing evil, essentially that each person has 'heaven and hell' inside themselves. The last verse - They say that life's a carousel, Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well, The world is full of kings and queens, Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams, And they'll tell you black is really white,The moon is just the sun at night, And when you walk in golden halls, You get to keep the gold that falls, It's Heaven and Hell. Thanks so much, guys, I'm so glad you love this song as much as I do! I appreciate your reaction so much, take care now.
@@TheInfurnos Great minds think alike, Mike! It's a great song isn't it and as George says, it's in three parts. What makes it for me, as I said, apart from Dio's vocals, is the bass running through the song, it's fab! Re Rainbow, I see that your favourite is Man on the Silver Mountain, have to say mine is Stargazer, both great songs.
Guys, you should check out the rest of the album. In my opinion it is one of the best heavy metal CDs of all time. Every track is amazing. Next best track after 'Heaven and Hell' is 'Lonely is the Word', which features what is easily Tony Iommi's greatest ever solo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Usks142RwHw.html
always love Geezer's bass work, always heavy and always smooth, and Tony's guitar solo here is just right, he doesn't overdo it, but just delivered an awesome solo.
Lots of great Sabbath from the all-too-brief Dio era: Mob Rules Sign of the Southern Cross Children of the Sea Lonely Is the Word Die Young Saw this version of the band in 1982... One of the greatest (and loudest) shows I've ever seen.
That was totally awesome!! I had that album for "Heaven and Hell" insane drums and guitar solos and vocals by Dio, the song just takes you away!! I love your reactions Patrick and George 👏👏👏 Thank you for sharing this awesome video 😊💓🤘✌️
Dio years were great with Black Sabbath - Some other great songs are "Sign of the Southern Cross", "Lonely is the Word", "Voodoo", "Children of the Sea" and "I".
Ronald James Padavona aka Ronnie James Dio (1942-2010) started singing in 1957 during the days of Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly. His grandmother saying that he is a gift from God (Dio in Italian means God). But his widow disputes this claim. He joined groups and bands from local areas in New York. There are audio clips from his early stuff on here, RU-vid. In the 70's, RJD join band called Rainbow fronted and founded by Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple fame. After Ozzy fired by Black Sabbath, RJD hired by the band from 1979 to 1982. He left Black Sabbath for his own band, Dio. Then years later, he rejoined with members of Black Sabbath for new band named Heaven and Hell. During this time, RJD continue on with music until he was diagnosed with stomach cancer, I think.
When this Album came out, we were all just blown away. I mean we all loved Ozzy Sabbath, but Dio just brought new energy to this trio and took this new places we didn't expect and it was awesome, and still is. I love ll the BS singers, but this album will always hold a special place in my heart.
These are some of the best lyrics in metal. Check out Lady Evil off the same album. I saw them on the Mob Rules Tour with Dio. Late 70s through the mid 80s was an insane time for concert goers. So many great concerts to go to all the time.🤘😝
You guys really need to go down the Ronnie James Dio rabbit hole. After Black Sabbath he joined Richie Blackmore’s Rainbow. You have to do Long Live Rock n Roll (entire album). Dio had a long and brilliant solo career. He is widely considered The Godfather of heavy metal vocals. Rainbow in the Dark and Holy Diver are 💯 musts!
There are lots of Dio-era Sabbath songs that y'all should look into after this one! Die Young, Children of the Sea, Neon Knights, The Mob Rules, Falling Off the Edge of the World, Computer God, I, and even the underrated Bible Black (when they changed their billing to Heaven and Hell). For my money though, the best Dio-era Sabbath song is The Sign of the Southern Cross. It's epic and heavy as hell!
Dio stated that this song is about the meaning of life and his philosophy, which is that life is either heaven or hell and you choose how you want to see it. Dancing is art, the dancer gives everything for the audience but noone gives for them.
Love this song!! You guys checked out Stargazer by Rainbow, so it’s only natural to react to its sequel, “A Light in the Black”. It’s just as good as Stargazer and much less well known. Cheers from Vancouver 🇨🇦
Thanks Bros, had the album when it came out many years ago, yes I'm pushing 60 but once a roller, always a roller. Dio was a master, thanks for this, been a long time guys.
i remember when i was a roadie for sabbath way back when, i remember ozzy came up to me while he was high as a kite, and said " 'ere, you want some coke" i was like "fuck it, yeah go on then" so he walks off and comes back a minute later and hands me a bag with a kilo of cocaine saying "if you ever want more, just say so, ive got cocaine everywhere, it just keeps appearing out of nowhere" fucking mad lad
The producer of the album was Martin Birch who also produced the Rainbow's "Rising" album which has "Stargazer" on it. The production of the Heaven & Hell album was more polished to give it a different sound than the Ozzy years.
Dio Sabbath is the BEST Sabbath...check out Voodoo, Neon Knights, Letters From Earth, Computer God, Children of the Sea, Bible Black (from the offshoot band, Heaven & Hell)
I told my high school friends who were into Motley Crue in 81 they were a bunch of little babies and played them this album. They agreed with me. lol Die Young same album.
@@JohnsonTheReal mostly light-hearted fun. But no way I can put Motley in the same league as Sabbath. Motley was great but riding on the coattails of Van Halen. Black Sabbath weren't riding on anyone's coattails. Not a slam on Motley, just Sabbath were at the forefront of an entire genre.
ronnie james dio the godfather of metal, he considered this song his masterpiece, i think he's trying to tell us to ? the powers that be, govt/organized religions... the world is full of kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams, ronnie brought out the musicality of sabbath especially tony Iomi who's guitar sounds like a river flowing thru rock n roll heaven, every song is good on that album, children of the sea, neon knights, lady evil
Check out the album "Headless Cross" with yet another singer (Tony Martin I think) and the best Black Sabbath (thats not Ozzy or Dio) song ever, WHEN DEATH CALLS!!! You will LOVE IT! Brian May plays the lead on this one!
Hey guys, love your reactions, I try to catch them all! Now, about Sabbath with Dio. I personally don't think the band was ever the same without Ozzy. Whatever he contributed, as soon as he left you can hear the difference...not BAD, but NOT what I consider Black Sabbath. I don't fault anyone in the band for the change, Ozzy did FINE on his own, but the songs with him were just on a whole different level. I think it was more than vocals...as he showed as a solo artist, there was something he contributed in the writing, the production, everything that stood out and made Sabbath great. I still respect Tony, Geezer, and Bill as musicians, but without Ozzy they were just not the same. Enough said!
Who is Dio. Umm one the greatest vocalist in all of metal along with Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson and Geoff Tate. Dio is a top five vocalist some would say number one.
Try reacting to "Die Young"....this one is live, the year before RJD passed (RIP Ronnie): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O-gQAy-Bss0.html
