hi everyone! hope you enjoy part 1 of my Paranoid album reaction, part 2 and my post-listen thoughts of the album will be up next week!! and yes.. i know i called this album 'metal' a couple times.. whoops. forgive me, i filmed this like 6 weeks ago lol and have since learnt their earlier albums are debatable
Bill Ward described Black Sabbath as "a swing band with heavy guitars", and on the first two albums you can definitely hear he's basically a jazz drummer. edit: I am so looking forward to side 2. Side 2 is, in my opinion, the superior side.
Bill Wards drumming is such a wonderful thing. Since you liked the drumming on War Pigs you owe it to yourself to check out the live performance from France 1970, it's here on YT! I've never seen a drummer hit so hard in my life
@@kirawasareactor If that is the famous "Live in Paris" video, you're going to like how heavy and modern it still sounds, while still being classic Black Sabbath.
It's not from France. The recording you mean is from the Paris Theatre in Brussels, Belgium. I learned this from the liner notes in the booklet of the 2016 Paranoid Super Deluxe Edition. I too always thought the recording was made in Paris, France, although I thought it odd the RTBF was involved. RTBF is "Radio Televison Belge Française", aka Radio and Televison Belgium, French. Belgium has three official languages, Flemish (which is my native tongue) spoke in Flanders, the North part against the Durch border, French, spoken in Wallonia, the South part bordering on France and German; spoken in the so-called "East-Cantons" near the German border. I speak all three, by the way, plus a bit of English, of course.
@@JimmyRJump That's true. It's not Paris, but Brussels, and the venue is Theatre 140, Plasky avenue (easy to recognize, especially during the backstage shooting).
It's also amazing to watch Ozzy perform live. It's incredible how he can perform the songs so good when he is on every drug possible at the same time. I can't believe he is still alive, he must be immortal. :D
@@dariofernando5572 I don't know if you're aware of this but she's had issues in this and her other channel in regards of RU-vid's algorithm thinking Kira being a child somehow resulting in some comments and interactions having been turned off automatically by the YT system…
You can never have too much Black Sabbath in your life, it's just not possible. This is a great album and one of my all-time favorites! Love the reaction and I am looking forward to part 2!
I really like your reactions :] You Bang! Keep up the quality, your content is so "pure"! Thank you for doing it for us! You remind me of the first time I heard them.
@@kirawasareactor After watching the video, I'am still in love with your reactions! I would reconmend a few album for you, but you already covered them :D. The one I dont remember, but I love very much is Iron Maiden. I have that album, Paranoid, Led Zep IV, and Dirty Done Dirt Cheap, and I don't even own a vinyl player yet :/ Got them dirt cheap, and they look cool :D If I remember well, maybe you reacted to Maiden before in your other channel, but not the albums. I know, they are getting reconmended a lot, but Hallowed Be Thy Name is such a good song. I think, you will like Bruce's voice. (Sorry, I can't really speak proper english, and I usually avoid commenting, but I like your content so much)
Your english is great! DOnt worry about it. Some people literally comment in Spanish and leave me to my own devices to figure it out. I do my best. You have amazing timing, I am filming an Iron Maiden reaction later this week. Hallowed will be included :) Thank you for your support, it makes my day!!
That made me laugh, I had to go back to the start to turn the volume up. They really are the best. A suggest for a live react is War Pigs at olympia theater, Paris. Its a good representation of their early live gigs. Rock and Roll baby girl ;op
@@kirawasareactor Dehumanizer is an acquired taste. Very angry and probably their heaviest album. Don't expect anything melodic. Pissed-off Ronnie era, like his solo albums from the 90s. The tour was incredible, though. There are a number of live recordings here on YT, but no official releases. all of them either boots or from TV or radio broadcasts (live in Italy 1992, Rio 1992, and Boston 1992 are from broadcasts).
@@M.Never. While I agree it's probably the heaviest album they did (well, The Devil You Know is probably on par, I guess), there sure _are_ melodic songs. I consider After All quite a melodic song, albeit quite a dark one. TV Crimes and Time Machine are almost "poppy", even! But "Too Late"? If that's not melodic, I dunno, M. Never...
@@fryke OK, Too Late may be an exception. But Kira was talking about Dio "screaming" in Rainbow and on Holy Diver earlier; if that was screaming I don't know what she'll call how he sounded on Dehumanizer.
Hi now my third watch of your reactions, so so good, loads of energy and appreciation of old rock/metal, this is when I was a teen, great music, saw black sabbath live in the 1980s great band. Keep up the great work and never tame down your reactions👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@kirawasareactor As far as Rush goes: 2112, Hemispheres and A Farewell To Kings. "Cygnus X-1" is such an epic story that it spans 2 songs on 2 albums. And The Trees is just a deep statement on social classes.
@@verneinnhel3279 Yeaaaah, The Trees is probably not the kind of song you want to look to for deep statements of social classes. Peart was unmatched behind the kit and could spin a yarn from time to time, but his Ayn Rand fandom is a real bad look in retrospect, and The Trees really reads like a bit of a bummer anti-union tune.
Absolutely looking forward to each and every video you put out! They're wonderful. And if you're a piano girl, you'll probably enjoy Empire of the Clouds whenever you get into Iron Maiden. (Or the next Maiden video if you've already got one pre-recorded).
Welcome to the Sabbath fanclub. Rare for me to find someone my age to enjoy this band as much as I do. I understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea especially for my age, but I do appreciate you uploading this reaction video here! You've made my day, thank you!
Ohh my good !... what a pleasure to watch you reactions listing to BS. Its brings joy to an old gezzer like me :). First time i heard them, i was 9 years old..they stayd my all time favorit band..now im 55 years old, and keep on rocking... and can allso tell you BS songs are real hard to play.... playd bass in many years . well thank you for your videos. Regards Jens from denmark
Gday, I got randomly recommended your reaction videos for some reason and ended up watching them all because it reminded me of my own venture into metal when I was about 14 or so and I got all nostalgic. Anyway, that lead me to thinking back to what songs really helped me get into it and pushed me further along. My dad was always into hard rock so I grew up with a lot of Led Zep, Sabbath and Deep Purple but I found myself gradually craving those heavier moments in those songs more and more (first time I noticed it was probably with Immigrant Song). Anyway, here's a list of songs that really heavily impacted me early on in my exploration of heavier music. Sails of Charon - Scorpions Lights Out - UFO Bewitched- Candlemass Cemetery Gates - Pantera Holy Wars... The Punishment Due - Megadeth Far Beyond the Sun - Yngwie Malmsteen Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne That should probably do, I don't want to recommend a crazy amount of stuff, but all of these songs had a big impact on me back in the day.
I went all in pretty fast, listened to a lot of Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica, got into Iron Maiden (took me a while to get used to Bruce Dickinson's voice, but I really liked the guitars), Nevermore, Pantera and Opeth (the latter two got me used to screamed vocals) before moving into heavier realms like Kreator, Death and Morbid Angel. I didn't get into Judas Priest until a bit later, but they've become one of my all time favs.
omg awesome!! glad you found me and thank you for the recommendations. I'll be filming a Scorpions video today!! Nearly all of the other acts you mentioned are on my radar
Hi Beautiful!,I have not stop watching your best , most genuine and stripped down to Earth videos. I love it and you ! How could anybody Not! Sorry YT. Plus ,your witt added with your humor is simply the best. Don't stop, ever!!
Hey, first , congratulations because I love the way you react and second I think you might be interested in the album Born Again from Black Sabbath where Ian Gillan was the singer of it. For me it's underrated and has some of the best vocals by Ian :)
Main problem of Born Again is that the mix isn't great - a bit muddy. But the combination of Gillan in Sabbath is interesting for sure, even if it was not to last. He and Tony Iommy are friends to this day though, btw.
@@Silber7 Yeah, the mix was... strange but I get used to it. Instead of that the album has some masterpiece as Disturbing the Priest, Born Again and Zero The Hero that are some of my faves songs with perfect Gillan's screamings
This album and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath are my personal Sabbath favorites, but all their six first ones are stone classics in Rock history. They never strayed too far away from their Jazz and Blues roots (especially on songs like Planet Caravan) while at the same time they totally reinvented the sound of Rock music with the detuned guitars and theme and tempo changes (Iron Man) with even classical and avant garde music here and there. The two last ones with Ozzy and the ones with Dio singing are quite different but well worth listening to, especially the Dio ones. Heaven And Hell is a definite Metal classic. I like Born Again too, but that’s surely an anomaly album before they sort of lost the plot in the mid eighties. But keep this up, Kira! It’s an absolute joy seeing someone react to Rock music with fresh ears. It reminds me of how it was for me hearing this music for the first time too and that’s a good reminder for any person who’s known these albums inside out for decades already, so thank you! PS: are you by chance named after Kira Roessler who played bass in Black Flag? Just curious :) Again: thank you! Keep Rocking!
Masterpiece album. Well the first six Sabbath albums are. By the way, if you like piano listen to "Sabbra Cadabra" from their fifth album "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", it has piano and it's great.
Btw Ozzy wrote the lyrics to 'who are you' and had the idea for the song 'Black Sabbath' & that's pretty much it. The Lyricist of Sabbath was Geezer Butler, the bassist.
Love this reaction ! Saludos de Ecuador !! You should check more Iron Maiden! Powerslave, hollowed be thy name, rime of the Ancient mariner. Maiden is just theatrical, Tells an epic story en every song
Sabbath were a ground-breaking band who started to define so many what we now consider genre of music. they made their own music. And so much of it was so great. At this time 'prog' is probably closer than 'metal' metal didn't exist. So much fusion of blues, rock'n'roll and especially jazz. Love watching you. Keep it up. Bless you.
Hi Kira, from a mexican fan of yours. If you want to hear the heaviest Black Sabbath ever, I would recommend you to hear the BORN AGAIN album, this album way ahead than the rest of the bands at that time, is scary, heavier and is groundbreaking. If you are brave enough, hear this album at night, shut down the lights and you will experiment the most amazing feeling of Black Sabbath. Keep going with your heavy metal reaction, I really enjoy it.
I know u might notice 20 comments from me im sorry i just found ur channel lol. I saw Sabbath live at their end tour in 2017 the last ever show theh ever did and it was AMAZING!
A song that also would somewhat satisfy your quest in search of 'metal' is Manowar's "Battle Hymn", from their 1982 debut album "Battle Hymns". A bit of an uneven affair with two songs that really stand out, besides the aformentioned Hymn, there's also "Dark Avenger" with a break containing a narration by the famous Orson Welles.
Many of the early metal / hard rock bands had a Blues and classical foundation, so they do shine through quite often. It realy is important to hear the albums, as well as the singles, to get the full feel for the bands, so many hidden gems :) Keep enjoying your journey.
Geezer said he was writing about depression, but it wasn't a thing back then so he called it Paranoid. Bill Ward is one of the great rock drummers. Just a great album. I grew up in the 60s and 70s, and back then groups weren't locked into a genre, and you saw bands stretch a bit on albums. That changed with British Steel.
Kira, if you like Rainbow's epic style you should enjoy this songs: (Queen - The March of The Black Queen - 1974) Savatage - Sirens - 1983 Pretty Maids - Future World - 1987 Yngwie Malmsteen - Hold On - 1988 Aria - Кровь за кровь - 1991 Rage - Lost in the Ice - 1993 Axel Rudi Pell - Casbah - 1994 Royal Hunt - Last Goodbye - 1995 Jorn - Christine - 2001 Kipelov - Пророк - 2005 Jon Oliva's Pain - Stories - 2008 Circle II Circle - Fatal Warning - 2008
i definitely recommend black sabbath’s Vol.4, it’s probably my favourite album of all time, in my opinion the peak of black sabbath. the creative genius of tony iommi is so well shown on ‘wheels of confusion’ and bill’s drums and geezer’s bass are just flawless yet feel super raw and full of emotion. the entire album has this feeling of floating in space.
Definitely my favorite Sabbath album as well, has some great variety in the songs but they never forget to the heaviness. Supernaut definitely my favorite song, those crashing cymbals with the intro riff are just pure joy
Hi kira loving the reaction as always, can't wait for P2, I would like to recommend Budgie very underrated band tracks like, in for the kill, breadfan, parents, napolian bona part 1&2, crash course in brain surgery to name a few, riffs as heavy as sabbath!!
Paranoid is a mammoth of an album. Can't believe this is 50 years old, as of last year. I love seeing your reactions, reliving my own discovery of classic rock from the last couple of years. I won't leave any recommendations since you've got plenty to go with. Have a good day.
It would be interesting to see you take on a video that is rather popular on RU-vid. A project called Ayreon. Basically a rock opera venture in metal form, with an ensemble of different singers given roles on various concept albums. In the 25 years or so this has been going on, one of the more popular songs is a song called "The Day That The World Breaks Down", featuring 11 singers introducing their respective characters in the play for the album where this is the opening song. This is newer stuff, dating back to 2017.
By the way, you should also check Deep Purples latest album, so you can contrast its evolution as a band. It’s called Whoosh I recommend Throw my bones
If you're a fan of the piano as well as bass and drums then there's this band you're going to want to check out : Nightwish. Start with The Greatest Show on Earth. Also, every percussion fan has to listen to Rush. They were a Canadian three-piece with Neil Peart as drummer. He's widely described as "your favourite drummer's favourite drummer". Sadly, Neil passed away not all that long ago. Songs of theirs that I'd recommend include 2112 (an entire album side in seven sections), Cygnus X-1, Cygnus X-1 part 2 (Hemispheres), The Weapon, Tom Sawyer, Subdivisions, and, basically, everything they ever recorded. During their live shows, Neil's drum solos were the stuff of legend.
You seem to like the groovier side of metal. You might dig some of these: For something more like early Sabbath, I suggest Kyuss. Good starter songs: "Green Machine", "Demon Cleaner", "One Inch Man", and "Spaceship Landing". For something heavier, but still groovy, maybe some Helmet. "Unsung" was a hit for them. "FBLA II", "Milquetoast", and "Exactly What You Wanted" would all be good followups. Both Kyuss and Helmet have done great covers of Black Sabbath songs, too. You can hear the creative genealogy.
Jethro Tull - Aqualung and Thick As a Brick. Non metal, more of a prog rock vibe (emphasis on "rock"). But, If you never listened to these, you should do this favor to yourself. These ones change lives, believe me. You rock, Kira. Thanks for the fun!
Planet caravan sounds like floating in space. Most of their albums have a mellow song, my fave is solitude on masters of reality - do this album next since it came after paranoid
You said before that your favourite music is about love/heartbreak and I can't think of a better example of that in metal than the songs "Rose of Sharyn", "End of Heartache" and "Always" by Killswitch Engage. I reckon they'd be right up you alley
First things frist, great entertaining reaction (as always) to a near perferct album! I think the first half of Paranoid emphasize nicely the reason some consider Sabbath the "heaviest jazz band of all times" - especially the rhythm section plays with so much space. grace & pace to cite my favourite car manufacturer :D My secret favourite next to the obviouse heavy hitters is Planet Caravan for that very reason!
Planet Caravan was such an amazing surprise !! I really appreciated the percussion on that song, it was sorta jazzy now that you mention it! Heaviest jazz band lol 😂
@@kirawasareactor It is - also Iomi's Guitar phrasing on this song draws some clear influences from jazz guitarists such as Wes Montgomery and Grant Green in my opinion. But than again, that is just stuff I love, so mayby I'm a little biased :P
if you loved the drums in war pigs you definitely need to check out the live version at the Olympia Theater in Paris, France 1970. Bill Ward goes absolutely crazy on the drums in that video
You should check out the albums Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules they get Dio on the first one and a new drummer on the second. FYI i love Never Say Die album it was the last before Ozzy left in 79/80
'Iron Man' was originally 'Iron Bloke' after Ozzy heard the riff and said it sounded like an iron bloke walking... the great thing about early Sabbath is the sound is surprisingly 'dry' and yet it often feels like there's an entire orchestra going on in there. They figured out something that I think nobody else was ready to face up to: it was the sound of that guitar noise itself, reduced to the basics, that people wanted to hear. If there was a solo thrown in, so much the better.
Geezer Butler is the man. He shows you how it's done. You could be a good bass player yourself. Just keep doing what you did after 4:17. :-) I always enjoy your reactions. Take care and have a wonderful day.
@@kirawasareactor That's excellent that you're playing the bass. What you did with your voice was very good but also very fun at the same time. It really made me smile. You know, the best ideas and riffs are born that way... They end up being the most memorable parts of a song. You have a great sense of rhythm. Keep it up!
This is the greatest album ever made!! I know you have a lot of songs to react to, but I would love it if you could listen to the first 6 albums by sabbath!!!
Super cool reaction! Hope you'll react to more Black Sabbath in the future :) You should also check out Ozzy's solo carrer, his first three albums Blizzard of Ozz, Diary of a Madman and Bark at the Moon are really great and you'll enjoy them for sure!
Black Sabbath is the base. Sometime, when you are listen to metal music you will face to sabbath and this is it. Sabbath is the begining. Everyone who wants to listen to the rock music must listening.
You should react to the album Shogun by Trivium. It's a phenomenal example of technical ability and songwriting talent in modern metal. You'd hear a huge difference between this and that, but some similarities as well. I think it would change a lot of your thoughts on metal and fully break you into the scene. It's melodically brilliant, energetic, brutal, heartfelt, and epic in equal amounts on separate parts. Very special.
