Thanks!...aeolian (and harmonic minor) are why Sabbath , imo, were the first true metal band, everything before them was heavy blues. Starting off as blues based band, they quickly adapted much of their music away from blues and into these modes, to suit the dark lyrical content. Thier use of aeolian trichords was a first for heavy rock (where would Iron maiden orJudas priest be without aeolian trchords :) )
