The Compendium format is growing on me since Saga Compendium 1 and the Spawn ones. Never read Black Science, but this overview convinced me! I'm gonna add this book to my Amazon favorites list!
Black Science is one of my fav comics ever. Great writing, one of the best artists in comics and a ending that had me thinking for weeks. I may get this copy too😅
A great series. The colors especially! Glad they’re putting out plenty of compendiums even if they’re not for me. Got a few friends who only buy them though! I’m doubly glad they’re reprinting the deluxes for the people who don’t have them. Thanks as always for the overview, Omar!
I just got mine a couple of days ago and will probably read that next. I found a used copy of Tokyo Ghost in good condition recently, and I'm working on that one at the moment but I've really liked Remender's books so far
I read issue 1 online only last week and fell in love with it. Had to stop reading due to being so busy but with this coming out might have to get myself an early birthday present.
I saw Black Science being recommended for a very long time but I wasn't invested enough to buy the HC's, so now the compendium's out: it's a no brainer really!
I've been wanting to read more image comics and have heard great things about this series. Thank you for the overview, you have given me a lot to think about.
Ihave the Deluxe HC of this and it is a beautiful book so if you haven't for sure give it a go. It gets a bit drabby for a short moment midway but it really quickly picks up the story and pace again and it's very gripping and touching. Also, the coloring by Dean White (and also Matt Hollingsworth) is the best I have ever seen. Special.
HOLD OFF.... THE 3 PREMIERE EDITIONS ARE UP FOR PRE ORDER AT YOUR FAVE SHOP FOR THIS LATE FALL. i PREORDERED THE THREE LAST WEEK. Sry for the all caps.
How do these softcover compendiums hold up over time? I’m debating going for the invincible compendiums as a more cost effective route, but my image tpbs from the 2000s glue cracked and all fell apart.
@Ryan Wilson my only concern is that my invincible tpbs crapped out after 10 or so years and I take pretty good care of my books. They went through a few moves and stayed in a storage unit for a year, but still taken care of pretty well. I’m just worried the soft cover compendium would only last ten years also. I think they have a hardcover compendium though
Anyone have a link announcing the reprints of the hardcovers? The original announcement on Image only had the compendium and I can't find anything announcing the HC reprint.
If I really love the character and the story, ill buy the hardcover version or Deluxe Edition. I recently just started reading World of Black hammer and i picked up the trade version, after reading a few chapters, i knew this was something i enjoyed so i ordered the library editions (all 5) I'm also late to The Goon but i do have all the trades omnibus. I do like how they're releasing lots of options for folks on all budgets, to be honest the hardcover version are so big and horrible to read. I much rather read a trade, I buy both usually because I'm a collector. My favorites in my collection are my three Colossal Conans by Dark Horse, lol but they're just to big to deal with or i should say the first one is anyway.
I keep looking at this one.... I love Remender's stuff but I really didn't like the main characters of Black Science so I fell off at some point. I'll probably give it another shot with this release.
Its the reason i didnt buy the Spawn Compendium. I saw it at a comic store....opened it and the cover began to crease on me with the corner as well. I said No way im buying this! Hardcover only!
