Wow, this is such a nice unit! Great review! I agree, I would be willing to pay for quality, but this seems really high at $90k+, I think $60-$65k is more in line.
This is literally the best video review I have ever seen in my life for any product. I clicked on this video by accident but when I started to hear the way this guy reviewed it, I stayed and watched and now want one lol. Great job buddy. Whatever you do for a living you deserve a 100 times better!
Last year I looked at these and fell in love but I could not find an unbiased video where the manufacturer representatives were not involved in some way. Literally, every video I found (even from true owners) someone from the company was right there. So, after a couple of months I was going to fly out to California to see them for myself but changed my mind when the price jumped up more than $25,000. That was a deal breaker for me because although, they are beautiful I need a little more storage for clothing and if you notice in the videos out there (at least the ones I found at the time) everyone focused on how pretty everything was but they would go right over the lack of storage for the bedroom and lack of depth in the kitchen storage. As an experienced RV'er I don't get wowed by the superficial stuff so I reluctantly gave up of them. And this is my honest unbiased opinion.
My first thought was bathroom is great ! But where is storage? Not even under dinette seats or bed ? And I would be being my dogs only 60lbs but loves the door! didn’t take advantage of space on kitchen wall by fridge. Could have bee spice shelves ? And I don’t need your bedding. Unless it’s an odd size mattress?
No way. I look at the cost of the components and shake my head. I'm glad someone else pointed out the issues with build quality. I was hoping this would be super solid, but it sounds like someone is selling concept as reality, and that's terrible. I'd rather build one out of a solid cargo trailer, but then again, I have the ability to do that. Unreal what they're asking for this.
Nice review. Here in Australia this type of design is very common and Black Series are sold here to. Whats interesting is that in Australia "Black Series" are considered lower end Chinese copies of the Australian made versions that are of average quality at best. If you want to look at the best quality Australian campers like this look at brands such as "Australian Off Road" , "Zone RV" or "Bushtracker". The quality and capability of these brands far exceeds Black Series. Unfortunately the Australian made brands are probably not available in the US.
@@dontachito4923 to true obviously what I meant to say was superior Chinese original products produced with astounding value for money...... "where is the sarcasm emoji"
It’s brilliant and so unique. The cost is a jaw dropping. I love the durability and features which give it such a top o line cost. I mean…That bathroom! However, it’s priced for the elite. We average “off - Roaders” couldn’t afford one. What a treat to experience this for 3 months. Job well done on the review, BTW. I like the pumped up passion for this product.
After so many years the RV companies are finally making something that is up to standards with the times we are living in . Seems like RVs have always had a 70s theme to them . Keep them clean , simple , smooth , and subtle .
Too bad they are all made with the cheapest and lightest materials they can get their hands on vs back in the day . My 1987 Mallard 24 foot travel trailer is made much better than my dads 2020 30ft . They don’t make them like they used to and that’s a fact
@@shantefrancess5174 I agree, but it also depends on the brand. For example, in the Class A market, Thor is considered "cheaper", Winnebago is in the middle (or top of middle), while Tiffin and Newmar are often considered top-of-the line. Keep in mind that each manufacturer also has different series, from budget models to high class. With that also comes different levels of build and finish quality. But yes, there are many RVs that aren't made to the higher standards of yesteryear. My 2c anyway.
There is a US one that is maybe better than this....I can't remember the name though. Edit....I think they are called Xplore trailer campers but they are just as expensive too.
@@lifeisshort4737 - I’m glad someone else sees how cramped it is. Are we seriously overlooking that you can’t even sit on the toilet without having to rest your arm on the washing machine?
@@lifeisshort4737 Sandra Westley uk, you’d have to over here, they don’t make trailers or Motor Homes with slide outs here at all. What you’ve never had you don’t miss. A lot of USA, RV s are just so huge there crazy, your going travelling supposedly light, not taking every item from home.
I am very impressed with the quality of the build. Truly they worked their butt off to showcase many of those details. The only change I would have taken into consideration would be the type of batteries installed (from lead to Lithium). Talking about extra space, there is enough space to add a soft start unit right next to the inverter.
If you want a small trailer that weighs as much as a tank, this is for you. The worst is the bathroom, it's like they laid it out and then realized they had to put a toilet somewhere.
Nothing but quality control issues that people overlook based on the price. At one point the owner was threatening to sue negative reviewers and forced expedition portal to take down all the reviews with negative commentary. Lipstick on a pig.
In Australia the Black Series campers and caravans rate quite low in off-road ability due to their excessive weight. They look the part but are like dragging a big anchor around in the bush. There are several other manufacturers here that make superior products that are fit for purpose. The review is on a beach that has passenger sedans going past so can't be that hardcore.
i'm not an RV er and no longer drive but this is just amazing . i could see myself living in this full time for it has alot of well thought out , over built , built to last quality . the washroom is what impressed me the most along with 2 kitchens .
Your enthusiasm is contagious and completely understandable for an rv that incredible. I always said to my wife that I would pay more for one built better. Your channel is fantastic by the way. Been watching for a few years now. Keep up the great work that you are doing. You supply us with the information that we need and really cannot get elsewhere.
Even though this thing is worth 90k+. It is kitted out to the MAX! This trailer in my opinion is definitely worth it. Seeing the washer also apart of it knocked my socks off. I would pay for the market price of thing thing if I could afford it. I like to watch your videos and day dream about the future of when I am a traveling x-ray tech and this thing would be awesome to pull behind me going to different locations. Cheaper than a house but with the freedom to pretty much go anywhere and the fact that it comes pretty much stock off-grid is jaw dropping, plus its gorgeous.
IF…we needed to give up our current TT (which we love) AND my wife and I could get comfortable with a higher cash payment - I would be the proud owner of one of these rigs and probably for life!
That thing is awesome!!! It's too small for my needs and I wouldn't have been able to justify that much cash, but its really really cool. I love the windows and sky light most of all.
Price doesnt bother me. The build quality and materials are right up there with Airstream and its hard to find anywhere on the trailer where they cut corners to pinch a few dollars.
Such an awesome trailer! I'd love to see 2 things on this (1) On the manual drop down jack, with the 2 wheels, how about a motorized version so you can move the trailer around, back it up easier, etc, and (2) I realize the outdoor kitchen slides under the bed area, but I'd opt for a slightly longer version of this, a little re-engineering, and make that bed into a murphy bed for the extra seating. Yeah that! LOL :-)
Love the Black Series HQ trailers, if I was to choose one it would have to be the HQ21. Well made, rugged and stylish!! Thank you for reviewing it. Enjoy your 3 months!
I would love to own this zombie apocalypse trailer if I win the lotto. The windows don't seem very secure to me, but it's a sweet home on wheels for the end of the world!
At 18:52. That's the easiest and best table-to-bed conversion I've ever seen. So many manufacturers make it difficult to the point I would just leave it as a bed or table and never convert it.
Hey! I really like your videos. They are very informative, detailed, and it shows you are exceptionally knowledgable when it comes to RV life. One thing I would say that I believe would greatly sharpen your channel is simply learning more adjectives to describe the different parts of the RVs. You often overuse cool and awesome, Anyways, these are super helpful. I hope to get an RV someday and if I do I know I'll be visiting your channel quite a bit more.
The RV is beautiful, nicest piece I've seen in a long time. American manufacturing is the pits. You mite as well buy a striped model you as the owner will be the only one repairing all the useless appliances. If the management of the dealerships could have them made of cardboard they'd quickly do just that. The price to me is surely well priced for something, you wouldn't have to drop it off at the dealer and wait two to 3 months to get it back. Love this site
Would like to be able to use the bed space as additional lounging area somehow when not sleeping. Space for toilet looks too small, maybe the washer should be elevated and toilet have more elbow room. Super cool to see the washer and the hard sided shower.
I've really been impressed with the Black Series trailers, and also Airstream and a couple of others, for their quality, purpose-built functionality, and clever use of space. I don't think I'd want to snowbird (and work remotely) in one for 4 consecutive months, but I'd love one for highly mobile weeks-long or weekend adventures.
Hi, I live in Australia, this Black Series RV is the "norm" here is Aus. We have probably more than 20 different makes of these and the Black Series is certainly not the best out there. Eden I think make the best RV in Australia, it even looks a lot better. We are really spoilt for choice. Best RV's in the world. Enjoy your weekends away. Drewman in Australia
They are pretty amazing until you look at prices. When they first came to the US, they were pricy but doable, now they have priced themselves outta most working class Americans comfort zone! Sad because I really wanted the HQ12!
It is nice! However, if I’m going to be shelling out that much cash I would pay just a bit more for a slide. US manufactures could learn a few things from these blokes!! 👍🏻
@@joshenoch7073 exactly. Yeah the suspension is cool and there are some nice features but there is no seating room. The dinette is it and it only sits 2 people or you have to sit on the edge of the bed. Speaking of the bed it is extremely difficult to make the bed due to the side tables that run the length of the bed.
This is a really nice RV beautiful Black piano finish trims with a white gloss on cabinets Doors, And The way the cabinets Are shaped , Really was impressed with The battery hook up equipment Underneath the kitchen seating, The outside axles with equipment was A1. The whole unit looks like a winner. Something that will last for many years.👍
Absolutely LOVE this! The look is so much cooler than the typical rv wrap/paint that I think always looks cheesy. Diamond plating is sick! Love the bright lights & high gloss too. The only thing for me is clothes storage cuz I don’t know how to travel light😂 Other than that I’d buy this over a lot of other rvs!
I'd love to see an option to match the bolt pattern with your tow vehicle. Probably wouldn't help the F450 guys but for more traditional overlanding rigs being able to share tires all the way around would be great.
How many traditional overlanding rigs could even pull this? 6000 dry weight, up to 10k loaded. You'd need a late model 1/2 ton to pull it. when I think overlanding rig I usually think Jeep, Tacoma or 4 Runner. Of those 3 only a Tacoma could pull it, and you'd be uncomfortably close to its towing limit even empty.
REALLY NICE little rig! As you were doing your walk around, by the time you showed the head / shower I was thinkin' $100k. The box section frame and fully independent four-wheel suspension is outstanding. The OEM installed solar array / batteries oughta generate enough juice for any power requirements needed. Make it amphibious and you done! Lol!
Given the higher price on this unit, wonder how this compares to an airstream ( as I wrote that you just mentioned airstream…LOL)…but seriously, setting aside the off-road nature of this unit a comparison with a similar sized airstream would be very interesting. If for no reason other than both this black series and airstream are using higher quality parts and construction….something that’s sorely lacking in the rest of the USA RV market, at least in our current environment of “get it from the manufacturer to the dealerships ASAP”. Love the channel, as always good info.
that really is a fine looking trailer. all the amenities, the washing machine. a mercedes rv, all the luxury in a van is 100k. so this is a great unit. but somthing i can only dream about.
THIS. He kept talking about how great the solar setup was, and all I could think was "A truly great solar setup would be able to run that little dometic Air conditioner."
These are definitely a nice heavy duty rig for sure I love the coil springs and dual shock system , I have a friend who has a Air stream and swears by it but my opinion if they made this trailer just a little bit bigger I would look into buying one for a lot of reasons and I love being able to be off grid and the mountains and beach camping great unit
Wowza this is something! Sometimes I just find myself watching trailer and RV videos on RU-vid...does that mean I have a problem? Always love learning about other options out there! I mean, don't get me wrong we love our Airstream but those windows are next level!
this thing is cool, and Im not an owner or in the market for anything remotely like this, but once in a while like to check out a video or two if something catches my attention and this caught my attention. If I ever decide to buy one, this is it! I love the quality and the extras that arent extra here, they are standard and absolutely awesome. Im loving this thing.
I really liked the suspension and wheel/tire combo and the overall ruggedness. The fit and finish appears to match or possibly better an Airstream. What I would change is swap out the a/c for a 12v a/c, yes they make them by Dometic, and switch the batteries out for lithium when the AGMs where out. I don't mind not having slides, but wish it was a little bit bigger.
F ing awesome! I maintain a rental fleet of 10 trailers. I saw one on the road the other day and pointed it out to my daughter. She’s only 6 and knows our trailers in n out. That is what I would build
Excited to see more videos and your thoughts on this manufacturer. I’ve read some reviews that had me cross this off my list of potential purchases and was totally bummed about doing so as I was excited about this brand. Looking forward to more from you, thank you!
I saw on U-Tube a company is installing electric drives on the wheels to give drive in mud/sand to help in pulling. A.I. By cable keeps in sync with truck engine. Pull trailer for 5 miles thru muck/sand dunes. What a great ideal. 2nd alternator on truck charges batteries to drive motors. Love high tech. 😁🇨🇦🇺🇸
It would make a perfect hunting setup for me. Would start planning on the upgrade of the AGM batteries with lithium and try to find a way to mount a gun safe to the frame inside the caravan.
This trailer is on par with the caravan's of Australia, it's almost equal with a Kedron caravan. Nice to see the Aussi influence coming to America. Nice and thorough video about this trailer, good job!
I like the features and looks honestly along with the capability. There really isn’t anything I see that I don’t like about it ,but for the size I feel the price is a little much. Granted it does appear well thought out and very strong but still a lot of money for the size and features
I’m just a novice at trailer shopping, but I’m pretty impressed by this model. It sounds like most things were well thought out and it looks solid. I especially like the size tires and underpinnings because so many trailers appear to me, at least, to be on little tiny tires, and I really question how long they would last. It is, however, awfully expensive! Coincidentally, yesterday I watched a video presentation of a similarly sized Airstream, which is supposedly high end quality. Though I didn’t research the price - not included in the video - IMHO, this trailer blew it away! The Airstream appeared pretty cheesy in comparison, and the guy doing the video, who was very honest, kept warning of things not to do or you’d break the trailer! Now, out of curiosity, I’m gonna have to find a price for that one for comparison. As a female, though, who would more than likely be traveling alone, this one seems so much more secure all around. I love getting two full-size spares! Downside is at least one Australian in your comments being critical of it compared to other Aussie trailers - though they’re probably not available in the US. Though the price is quite high, this unit seems worthy of a lot of comparison shopping.
All the airstreams I've seen are way over priced in my opinion. Seems to me like you can easily get comparable trailers of the same quality for half the price
Beautiful camper, I dig the overbuilt chassis and suspension which is absolutely necessary for off roading. The rigging at the hitch and dampening feature are nice. Along with everything else I think it's worth what your going to pay at the dealer.
@@lifeisshort4737 Australia is mostly empty and an island, so beaches everywhere. Desert if you prefer or maybe rainforest. Rugged and perfect. Pity the government Gestapo have us locked down to 20km from home. FREEDOM.
Almost a dream RV! However, 90K plus a rig that'll cost 75K or more is pretty pricey. I could sip many many many cocktails from the bar looking over that same beach for that.
