I've found an amazing trick to drastically reduce heating while gaming on my phone, and I've never heard anyone talk about it. Basically, plug your phone in and charge it to 100%, and then game with your phone plugged in, it'll draw power from the power supply and won't heat your battery up at all, drastically reducing heating.
or, you can switch to bypass mode to prevent the battery from charging while you're plugged in and gaming. trust me, it prevents the battery from heating up.
@@chini2W0 The limit is the thermal dissipation from the outside of the phone to the environment causing it to heat to the point of discomfort, every source of heat from inside the phone will add to that. So the added heat of a charging battery is still going to add to the problem.
that is so crazy, 50°c and yet no throttling at all??? performance wise this is the beast i guess if youre really a hardcore mobile gamer. tho the battery life and 3.5 jack can be a deal breaker for some people.
A very good review... not sure why so little views compering to other black shark 5 pro review.. seems genuine and very professional. made me think twice. thanks a lot.
I remember being thrilled by my first 18w charger, just 3 years ago. It wasn’t even bundled with my phone and was bought separately. Things have moved very fast on charging tech.
Superb busy with soo many releases Chris! 👏👏🙂. Keep up the good work. Although the performance looks to be really good. But Personally I would have the Red magic 7 pro over this one any day. That mag Attachable back fan is super inconvenient in my opinion.
can some one help i think this phone is good because i don't play video games for that long I'm more of movie guy who likes to watch and download a lotof movies and shows and this phone is probably is the cheapest phone with 512 GB do i buy it or buy another regular phone
2:24 I really disagree with you there, internal fans take up too much space and bring the additional risk of the motors failing. If an external fan fails it can much more easily be repaired or replaced. I just wish that phones offering proprietary Peltier coolers like this would finally go back to using unibody aluminium housings instead of glass for better heat dissipation (or maybe a cutout in the glass right over the processor made from aluminium).
Having used the internal fans in the Redmagic phones now for years they do actually work. The Redmagic 7 for example doesn't throttle at all and doesn't reach 55 degrees + like this phone does. The hot SD8Gen1 and last gen 888's either have to be throttled, fan-cooled or they will cook themselves. Peltier coolers are good but they have to be external, internal ones wouldn't work as moisture forms on them so bad for the internal electrics.
I had the red magic 7 but ended up returning it because of the fan. I liked how stable it made the templates, but one day when it was raining (I have a mile walk from where I work to my car) I was a little afraid of getting water in the phone because of the 3 separate vents. I feel like it's a tradeoff that does the job, but I too was worried about part failure, due to time or the elements.
@@Techtablets it does produces heat but I like having more peace of mind cause there's not alot of holes the water/ other elements to get in the phone and ruin it. Plus the black shark 4 pro with the last gen 888 it had more stable performance between the ROG 5 and red magic
Really sad to see no more headphone jack on this gaming phone but it's pretty understandable since Black Shark (BS) also releases new gaming wireless earbuds. Also I'm really curious to see the phone's inside since they are using UFS 3.1 / NVMe SSD internal storage. A 13 MP ultrawide camera is definitely a plus for a gaming phone and with the power of GCam, it can take decent shots just like any other 8 MP ultrawide camera but with a nice bump in resolution. Definitely a better release from Xiaomi rather than the upcoming Poco F5, a rebranded Redmi K40S. Personally, I would rather wait for a better version of BS 5 Pro with SD 8 Plus Gen 1 or MTK Dimensity 9000. But then again, since there is a middle tier BS 5 RS, which has the same design as BS 4 Pro with SD888+ for higher 12GB RAM variant, I won't be surprised that there will be a global version of BS 5 RS in case the sales for China version is very low.
Overheating is no small issue. I have seen many ROG phones, my friend Poco X3 Pro, Poco F3 and many more phones that heats up alot got hard bricked, it glitches the screen first, then just shut off completely, unable to turn on again. The heat basically fries the mainboard. Heat also does no good for the battery. I really don't get why people want their phone pushing that hard, yes the graphics is good, but if it heats alot it would get uncomfy to held and makes you don't wanna play anymore.
That’s what just happened to my Rog phone 2… it lasted me 4 years then just died on me… I’m not getting a Rog 5 phone that’s for sure, so that leaves red magic or black shark.
brother. just to inform you that ROG phone 2 came out last 2019 of July. i have one but its tencent edition flashed to global rom.still work but the battery degraded since its been 3 years. just sayin. hehe 😁
Hey I was wondering if the neo3 12 gb is actually 12 gb of ram or it's 8gb the rest is something else.Last thing is the neo3 will it work with USA carriers?
Only serious question i have is will it work with Android Auto without the audio going flat? I've already had the Red Magic 6 and currently have the Red Magic 7 pro and both make the audio go flat through Android Auto.
I'm after this model because of how great its speakers are. But overall I really am a fan of BS3. I've had one before and it's okay as a gaming phone. Design-wise it's also more close to "gaming", futuristic indeed. AND most importantly, I can play CODM with the Left gaming accessory without being included in the players with gaming pads. HAHAHA 😎🙈
What are the temperatures like? Over 50 wow, Gen 1 chips can get other phones up to almost 60 degrees, like poco f4 gt… I’m thinking of getting the 4 pro instead, or red magic 6s pro… after ten minutes of gaming the heat throttles the performance anyway, that’s why so many people prefer SD870 over 888, 888+ and gen 1.
given sd 8 plus gen 1 is just around the corner, i wouldn't even think about spending money on the super super hot sd 8 gen 1. you have to be crazy to buy an expensive phone that runs to 50 degrees.
Yeah I think I'll wait for the next model. The turn off is the heat and I don't wanna carry around that fan. I'm trying to replace my Moto Z4 since it's pretty much extinct.
Sigh.. holepunchdisplays on a gaming oriented device. I mean it's cool to have choices I guess but it just makes BlackShark so hard to recommend for me.
Can't call it a gaming phone without headphone jack like for real, no one wants Bluetooth because of latency and no one really uses speakers either when gaming truly a shame
It feels really quite uncomfortable when it hits 50 degrees c+ Such a hot chip that SD8Gen1 but in this phone they set that thermal throttling limit to the max so you can push it crazy hard btu the trade off is it's way too hot!
Hot, hot again... Every generation almost every company promise that she make a perfect newest hyper quadro mega cryonic alien technology cooling system, and every year they lie to us. 55° is crazy.
Glass is not a good conductor of heat, having a fan on there won't do anything to the CPU temperature, it's a shame that they can't use an internal fan instead of external. Also they should have a touchpad on the back which we can configure as triggers so that we can have 4 shoulder buttons instead of 2. That would make it a better gaming phone.
Black Shark's coolers aren't just fans, they are thermoelectric. They get so cold that they frost up. So it does cool the phone while gaming, I monitor the temp during gaming and it does down by up to 10 degrees Celsius.
Shame there's a punchole. And no headphone jack. Welp, looks like the red magic 7 pro is really the best flagship to get. Either that or that recent zte which looks like a galaxy s21 ultra but has no cutouts.
Faster everywhere?? Which everywhere you talking about? Charging speed? Heat? Sustainabilty in long term gaming? Apple is not 100% surefire win in every aspect. Also, better buy 12 series if what u want cheaper iphone with 5g. And with 14 soon releasing, both 12 and 13 price will drop bit by bit
