Audio latency. It can make you mental. Nothing sucks more than connecting a $100+ set of headphones or earbuds to your Steam Deck only to be hit with 100ms of latency. Reddit is alive with people looking for a low-latency solution that won't break the bank.
Thanks to some of those audiophiles on Reddit, I was introduced to these Black Shark earbuds; promising 35ms latency - but are they the real deal? Can YOU tell the difference? Are they worth a buy? We'll do real audio/visual tests to see if they deliver as promised using Overwatch 2!
Note: This review has nothing to do with QUALITY of sound - it is focused on latency. I do not think anyone would be disappointed with the overall quality of these $40 earbuds - but we won't cover that here.

Man, I thought I'll go crazy due to head sets on my Steam Deck. IT IS SO DIFFICULT to find low latency headsets for Steam Deck! I'm already an expert regarding bluetooth versions and protocols and I was getting really frustrated because searching something that will work is SO SO DIFFICULT. And the biggest problem is, you feel it is possible to find them! But then you start to search and it's not! But this feeling that at least ONE producer will have working headsets push you further and further in to the frustration : P And it's not a problem of budget, I could easly spend like 200 euros (I'm from Poland) just to play Steam Deck on wireless headphones, I just need it. If this headset gonna work, I'll be so happy. Just bought it online, but to tell you it's pretty hard to get them in Poland, only one shop sells them. But I need only one working solution, sound doesn't need to be rich and crispy, fk it at this point xD So keep your fingers crossed. And thank you!!!!!

any idea if they beat the earbuds twice the price? for example VR P10 and JBL Quantum? or perhaps they all hover around 40ms? idk what chipsets they all have

Alas, I don't have the cash (this is a meager channel) to try them all. This has as a SPECIFIC low latency gaming mode (supposedly 30ms?) ... I know my Samsung Buds+ absolute suck.

@@Darkuni yeah, that low latency mode is bluetooth though right? and not 2.4GHZ which is faster

@@SharpElbows123 Correct. I haven't tried any "dongle" based headphones on the Deck. Honestly, I wouldn't use them anyway - since my use case is always handheld play and I want the USB port open for charging at any given time. Appreciate the clarification.

The only major weakness of the JBL Quantum is the battery. Otherwise they are pretty great. The VR P10 have no ANC and in my case have an annoying noise going on when using the dongle, but they fit my ears a little bit better than the JBL Quantum. If you are after low latency, dongles are the way to go I think, but I have not tried the once from this review.

@@HopemanGG I'd love low latency with something that doesn't have a goofy case and fit my ears better :) Hard to beat the price. The low latency mode gives up some fidelity (as I mentioned in the video) but I need to hear the Windowmaker fire the first time, on time, to avoid her headshot on the second firing :D

3:10 that's disgusting... "yeah, that's really the way it is" but sadly as a sound designer I also notice the difference in sound quality; less than 128kbps is just as disgusting

The capture makes the audio sound a lot worse than it is - but there is a DISTINCT drop in quality with gaming mode. I found another Gaming Mode compatible set of ear buds that doesn't take nearly the quality hit. I considered reviewing them - but people are fickle ... I might get slammed ... :)

Oh sure thing. But people ask several times a week for a wireless solution... I haven't found one up until now.
