Amazing, the video showed in a very simple way that how BSF can help to manage organic waste, highly recommended video in both academic and public sector to learn the basic techniques. ❤

Interesting topic!! Definitely will be useful if we manage to do this on larger-scale; hence less landfills utilisation.

This video provides a comprehensive yet simple overview of how food waste can be managed by using BSF. The explanation and the information delivered is easily understood with simple terms and direct visuals which could greatly help small scale farmers to get an idea for their food waste issues. Especially in Malaysia, i think this bioconversion method could be helpful in tackling the ongoing food waste issue. In my view, this is a recommended way of dealing with food waste from educational institutions as one of the main contributors to the concerning food waste issue.

the clip is useful for small scale farmers to get the idea on how bsf is utilized in converting the food waste into something useful & how it benefits us. I do believe it has the potential in Malaysia but it requires long term commitment from each parties, proper facilities and maybe a capital to start & maintain the whole process

interesting video, great way to recycle organic waste, I like the way food waste was prepared, by grinding the food waste, it provide uniform substrate size for the larvae

The video is informative and well made, could you provide details on how do you manage the unpleasant odours during the composting process?

@@shuganeswarithanasakran9040 hi there, thanks for the support! During the composting process, it is important to ensure good air circulation in the area (if it is enclosed, especially when we are prepping the food waste for the larva) . Open and airy area is always preferable, remember the larva thrive in relatively warm temperatures outdoors. From our experience, odour is not a major problem during the whole process.

Hi thanks for your kind comment! We are glad you find the video helpful. As for your question, at our pilot facility, the ratio that we use is approximately 1 kg of food waste may produce 0.15 - 0.2 kg of live larva (consider the moisture content in the food waste). So if you plan to produce 10 kg of live larva, we suggest around 50 kg of food waste to be given in batches (recommended every 2 days until the 8th day). Hope this helps!
