Don't be misled. While I'm a big Scott Gorham fan, you if you look at the liner notes of the BSR albmus,he is not much involved in the songwriting. A contribution here and there, but when Damon Johnson was still in the band, he was the one who mainly supported Ricky Warwick with writing the material. In their latest album, it is the new guitar player, Christian Martucci who is heavily credited with Ricky. However, the solo in this song is typical enjoyable Gorham-type.

@Bll Zok I think he's well off with Black Star Riders. I mean he's no longer a spring chicken now, and he has never been the type of guitar player to play 2 minute solos. Listen to his Thin Lizzy stuff, there were only a few long-time solos (i.e. Still in love with you, but this is not wild at all, the ending solo of Hey You and maybe his solo in Chinatown, but most of his lead guitar work has always been short and succint. He always left the "long and winding" solos to his guitar partners (Robbo, Moore, Snowy, Sykes).

this is just awesome. so much Lizzy spirit. I love this. This is just wonderful, makes my cry. Catching the Lizzy spirit with so much love and creating something new and unique. I am for 35 years in Rock and Metal but I find this a Masterpiece.

Maybe the very worst of Thin Lizzy. This is a very mediocre, boring song. I hope their other stuff isn't this lame. Will be seeing them open for Priest.

The song is a bit more commercial than most Lizzy tunes were, but I can remember much worse Lizzy tunes on some albums, i.e. The Boogie-Woogie dance on Johnny the Fox. Even the great, late Phil Lynott was not an all-time genius when writing songs (while he was great most of the time).

I love how Ricky Warwick channels Phil Lynott's rapid-fire style of phrasing. This is like a great Thin Lizzy song that Phil never got around to writing. That works for me. Great rock and roll.

You do realize that "not hard enough" is one of the most subjective complaints you can have about a song right? I'm not saying I disagree, it does lack a bit of punch for my taste too, just saying that "objectivity" has nothing to do with our problem with this song. Comparing it to their other albums or other genre groups might be considered objective but not your post.
