Black Swan brought out the best of her acting ability. She needs to do more of that level, instead of performing in these cheesy romcoms and mediocre fantasy films.
She played this part so well. She really deserves 5 million oscars. Everything she had to do physically and mentally must have been draining but she really acted her heart out and she played the character so well
She is beautiful, but more importantly, she's selective with how she uses her beauty and which roles she plays. She values substance above all else, which is why she's so awesome.
Just watched the movie again. Going thru these interviews she looks absolutely exhausted. Had to be an extremely difficult role to play. What an actress
I always feel like I'm at a seance when I watch these things - never mind where my red coat's gone, what's the afterlife like?? Never mind how hard it is to act while you're pirouetting, what's going on in Nina's head??
NO. SHE DIDN'T. She is not dancing in this film, her face is superimposed over American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Sarah Lane. You can't learn to dance in one year. Sarah Lane began dancing when she was four, and has danced for 20 years.
SARAH LANE, the American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, DID THE DANCING, with NP's face superimposed over dancer Sarah Lane's body. And Natalie Portman doesn't even acknowledge it. She WANTS you to think she's doing the dancing. "When you're dancing, and your'e focusing on what your'e doing" but, dear, that's not you dancing! Your face, through a process called facial enhancement, is superimposed over the real dancer's body. So don't talk about "nailing a turn" when you aren't doing it.
You are wrong.its been stated over and over that Natalie did most of the scenes, specially the close-ups.Quoting the other doube,Kimberly Prosa: "Natalie studied for several months from the waste up.Sarah Lane did the heavy tricks, the fouettés,but didn't stay for long, only 2 weeks, and then I did some of the scenes they needed."Obviously, there were some scenes Natalie couldn't do,but to say she didn't do the dancing is ridiculous.
Darren Aronofsky has denied these claims - Natalie did MOST of the dancing you see in the movie. The only shots Sarah Lane did were the far away shots that featured moves that only an experienced ballerina could have possibly done. Everything else was Natalie. This smear campaign that Sarah has tried to do against Natalie is pathetic.
actually she did dance. only in some wide shots did they use a double. the director said that of the 138 dancing shots of the character 111 of them were really Natalie. the final shot of her on pointe for 85 seconds was really Natalie on pointe for 85 seconds. so yes she did dance. on pointe. trained for a year. give credit where its due.
