Thanks for the good little video. I have a 2014 that is in the process of getting an Akrapovic 4 into 2 header, and K & N air filter installed, along with a valve adjustment, new plugs, and a PC Fuel Controller installed. Keeping my carbon Yoshimura mufflers on it, which will take a little bit of tweaking to fit up with the Akrapovic header, but can be done reasonably easy. Then getting it dynoed and remapped next week to get it set up right. I'm expecting some gains in the HP and torque departments, along with some weight savings. But mostly I want that growl that grows into a roar when I'm traveling the twisty roads all over the Pacific NW, while still being perfectly tuned.
Thats awesome Luther! I'd really love to hear that when you have it done! I sent my ECU off to 2WheelDynoworks for an ECU flash and so far I really like it. I've had to make some adjustments that will be in the next video but then I'm taking mine back to the dyno to see if there is a difference. Please check back in when you have your work done I'd be interested to hear your experience! Thanks for the comment!
Thank you William! I'm having a lot of conversations with the performance shop and it looks like it may run into next week but you bet I'm chasing those numbers now I'm all inspired!
Great team work on the video. I have a 2019 Ninja 1000 (live in Japan) and with the help from your channel I'am able to develop some thoughts for the changes I'll be making. Thanks for the the other links you have mentioned, as I am reviewing them as well.. I really like how you put your video's together, supper clean and professional. Looking forward to all of your next videos
Excellent video. I ride the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja 400 (with ABS). I still have stock exhaust but after watching this I may consider the Black Widow. Thanks for all your hard work and effort. Subscribed!
Edward thanks, I really love the ninja 400 it’s hot! I can’t say enough about Black Widow so far I am enjoying the sound and they look great! Make sure you stop back and let me know what you end up with as well as your opinion on whatever you decide to go with. Take care and thanks for the comment!
Thanks Rob appreciate it. I'm super happy with the sound, I went for a ride today and I could not be happier with the way it turned out. Thanks for the comment and for stopping by!
Looks and sounds good. Better with the baffle fitted IMO and you'll get less popping on decel. I tried mine with the baffles out and was glad to put them back before headache set in. That's WITH the cat, yours must be ear splitting loud without. Can't wait for the dyno run.
You got that right. I know the video does not really convey just how loud that was but it was ear piercing when I popped the throttle and is why I only did two pulls. It might be fun for a day out or something but there is no way I could ride around like that all the time! I'm also looking forward to the dyno and getting my hopes up a little...dreaming of a 10+ HP gain...probably will be disappointed but you never know! Thanks for the comment and for stopping by, appreciate it!!
I wasn't either but one of my subs suggested it and I have to say I am just blown away by how good an experience its been so far! Good stuff and sounds phenomenal! Thanks for the comment and for stopping by!!
I sent my ECU in for flashing, I also plugged the pair system to stop all the popping that resulted from the full system and ECU flash which disabled all my emissions and O2 sensors. That said, just putting on the exhaust itself didn't seem to impact the bike much in terms of fueling...probably if anything it was running slightly lean. I'd definitely suggest doing an ECU flash if you put on a full system on this bike. It may run a bit hot otherwise. Hope that helps and thank you for stopping by!
I'd have no reservations at this point recommending them, much more affordable than most and good quality product. Let us know what you decide! I'd be interested to know. Thank you for stopping by and for the comment!
So i have a question i see you bought. Mid grade slip on and headers? I seen your dyno run and u should be around 140whp. Curious why you dont? I have the same bike same k and n filter same 2 wheel dyno ecu flash but i have akrapovic megaphone slip ons and my akra headers are on the way. So i guess im asking do u think it's your headers that caused the lower hp?
Hello, did the black widow exhaust come with 4 header gaskets ? Did you have to install them while installing the headers ? I took my headers off but I do not see any OEM gaskets to replace it with.
Great vid's brother! what's the length of the silencer can? Also, will this 4-2-1 fit with OEM panniers? BW sent me a link to all full systems compat. w the OEM panniers and there were no 4-2-1 options so maybe that set up won't work with them. Looks like you don't have the bike any longer but did the system hold up well for ya while you had the bike? TIA!
It was a relatively short can, sorry i dont have the measurement but its the shortest can they have. I never had the panniers and I do not think this set of pipes would work with them mounted due to the angle the pipe sits at. The pipes were very well constructed and I had zero problems with them. When I traded the bike off for my ZX10 they sounded as good and were just as pretty as they were the day I installed them...though the pipes were getting a bit golden in the heat zones. I would not hesitate to buy BW again if they made a pipe for whatever bike I was looking for. Hope that helps! and thank you for the question/comment.
Hello and thanks for the video, did you do any electronic mapping or electronic fuel adjustment? I have a Kawasaki Versys LT 1000 2015 with 3000 miles and i want to change the exhaust system.
I did a little looking on their site, looks like about $350-400 for the 650. About half the cost of the Yoshimura Alpha (which is awesome btw) for the same silencer I chose but give or take another $100 for some of the carbon fiber or larger can options. I have a link to their site in the description, just change the "Pounds/Sterling" to US dollars and then make sure to put it in a cart because the price is always less than their advertised cost once you put it in the cart. PRO TIP :) Not saying you have to buy it of course just that you can see what you'd actually pay if you did decide to buy. Thanks for the question and for stopping by!
sounds awsome, looks awsome...too bad i cant buy this shit in germany....really like the look in combination with your bike colour! cant wait for your next v-logs ,)
Thanks BangBang!! I had a lot of fun making this one and it really came together this time. Sorry you cannot get these in Germany...wondering why you cannot?? Do they block the delivery from the UK or something? Just curious. Thank you for the comment and I appreciate you stopping by to watch!
Hi mate ,I have only just found out about Black Widow exhausts ,I bought the 2019 CB500X and was looking at getting rid of the cat but rallyraid the go to guys for the CB500X only sell the tail pipe so looked on google for best exhaust for my bike and low and behold Black Widow was number1 so i gave them a call and super nice people [BRITISH] to deal with and will be getting my FULL de-cat soon, i just want to give a shout out to another British company HOOD JEANS in my opinion anyone wishing to get some casual but safe Jeans look up their K7 range full kevlar/aramid not just in the knees and backside but fully lined and if they don;t fit they will fix for NO CHARGE. Anyway nice bike very nice exhaust and thanks for showing PS KEEP IT BRITISH IF WE CAN SCOOBS UK.
NYTom you may have saved me a BUNDLE Tom! That whole thing forced me to do some research and I’m going to detail it all in an upcoming video! Thank you!!
I too have ninja 1000 , I have purchased last couple of months, I also stock exhaust sound I too want to change the exhaust but not full exhaust ,I will change only cans .But it should not be too loud, still now I have not finalize which one I have to install, if you have any idea please suggest me ,ooh ya I am from india ,I watch's your video regularly, I also like you thanks wife , buy thanks have a nice day . Yours Biker lover.
haha I see what you did there! thank you though I really like how this one turned out and am looking forward to getting the tune and dyno done. Thank you for stopping by Sam!
Yes Kurohyou69 on the Black Widow site they list only the Z1000 but when you drill into the site a little they list those as compatible with both the z1000 and z1000sx (or ninja 1000) up through 2018. They have both 4-1 and 4-2 setups! Thanks for the question and for stopping by!
really good Vid crystal clear viewing!....that black widow Exhaust sounds Awesome! ps Stuff your neighbours!......have a few beers then go out and rev the shit out of it at 4am,,
haha D4MCM thank you for the compliment and I'm kind of with you on the neighbors thing...but you know they already kind of dont like me for cranking my bike in the garage which makes it kind of a megaphone! One of these days though I'm going to pull the baffle out for a day or two just to run around town with it and see how I like it. Thank you for stopping by and for the comment! Take care!
Colonel its still smooth to me! My only comment is that there is a lot of popping on decel especially when warm. On a cool morning like today when the bike is cool not so much. The bike actually runs a little cooler than it did before. As for throttle response, i'm not feeling much difference. I'm guessing after the tune a little of the popping will be reduced but its nothing you cannot live with. I have a video that I will release today/tomorrow that you'll be able to see how it rides.
Sounds great - but - do I want to hear this for hours on a weekend tour? Don't know? Would have like to see how left side of bike looks without that giant Kawa stock can.
Hi... Lovely video and I would like to say thanks to you. I have been looking for 4:2:1 header combo but could not find any other than the akra(add two end cans to the expense). I stay in India and getting them from the USA would cost a bomb. Black Widow just suits my budget and i am considering them big time. Its been two months of you owing them and I require your help here to finalize my decision. Can you let me know if its worth it and if it fits the bike properly? I love the sound and the inline 4 bass is what I have yearned since childhood. BTW i own a Ninja 1000 2018! I did some ground work on Black Widow and found some not so favorable reviews and hence my question. Love the Video ... Thumbs up !!
Thanks Rishi! Yes, I'm very happy with my Black Widow Exhaust and I highly recommend them at this point. I've had no issues whatsoever. With that said I would recommend NOT using the provided assembly paste that Black Widow provides. It dries like concrete and if you ever want to take the system apart you will need a torch...dont ask me how I know that! I would recommend getting a high temp silicone sealant when fitting the pipes but other than that, the pipes fit my bike very well and I had no issues at all. Additionally, they've been through several heat cycles now and they are performing very well. No weird colorations in the pipes they have gotten a really subtle golden color and haven't changed at all. AND they sound amazing! Such a great value I couldn't recommend them more.
Thanks so much for your help Sir!! Really looking forward to get them for my machine.. last question.. can i fit a saddle bag with this exhaust and whats the model code for your exhaust?
No unfortunately I did not...though now that you say that I should have!! lol. Oh well maybe next time. Thank you for the comment and question and especially for stopping by and watching!
yes I certainly will, I'm such a dope not to have included that in the first place but I'll get it into an upcoming video. I did so much complaining about it I should have made sure I showed it. Sorry for that!
Wow sound like your bike give you more like for your channel 😂🏍😍❤️Amazing sound without the baffle please make more riding videos without the baffle thank you sir 😂😍❤️🏍oh and dont throw that stock exhaust in the trash okay in ThaiLand and VietNam they make the stock exhaust sound very awesome ❤️
Well I think it depends on where you are at. Where I live Harley's are quite common and dominate the landscape here. They(many) run very loud pipes and its almost part of the culture around these parts. There is also a lot of stock car racing on weekends and so its "normal" to hear loud exhausts on a daily basis and the police here do not enforce any noise ordinances that I've ever seen in the 40+ years I've lived here. All that being said, your milage may vary depending on your local police. I'm pretty sure I could get away with running around town without the baffle in as long as I wasn't doing it at 3 in the morning or waking up my neighbors. For me that is too loud and running with the baffle in produces a smoother and sufficiently loud sound. Trust me its still loud. In my town I dont worry about it, but whether or not its "street legal" or not may vary among different localities. I'm pretty sure as soon as I removed the catalytic converter I was probably breaking some law but nobody enforces it anywhere and I'm not sure how they would honestly. Hopefully that helps but if I'm missing your point just ask. Thanks for the question and take care!
I bought the 200mm Stainless can mostly because it was the cheapest but also because it was going to be the loudest. I have since bought a 300mm carbon fiber which I'll be doing a review of very soon! Stay tuned! I think the smaller cans are going to be louder (which could be a pro or a con depending on perspective) they take up less room and have a nice sound to them. The larger cans are going to be noticeably quieter, take up more room and have a deeper sound most likely. Once I get the 300 carbon on you'll be able to hear for yourself. Thank you for the question and stopping by.
