I'm envious of whomever the brilliant bloke is who has repackaged & slapped a label onto a cup of Lucas ' Red-N-Tacky' lube to ,in-turn , flip-around & sell it to us RC nerds as 'Udder Butter' for a 300%-500% mark-up; that's the interesting story from this video ,lol ... Also , if OP or any of you desire watertite diffs, you don't really need to locktite diff covers ; just like we do our full-scale 4x4s , you simply lay small bead of permatex right-stuff differential ,5min gasket material around mounting edge of diff cover . Then screw on normally to proper spec torque. They will be h2o tite until you crack 'em open to service, having to scrape the small gasket away & clean w/ isopropyl before resealing after service. I find RC guys really like to go overboard w/ the locktite when you needn't do so, fwiw. My interest in this is due to my researching potential housing options for a Vaterra Ascender which is my 1st RC crawler I've gotten into & after years of full-scale ,Jeep rock crawling experience.
Yuppers. Just like in the video, mine needed new grease and some locktight for loose screws. They look great on my chassis. All I got going so far is the axles, links, chassis and shocks.
that grease looks like lucas red n tacky grease .i use that but am moving to 5 percent moly grease most likely i order a jar of moly and add in to my horde of grease i have all ready ..nice axles they seem anyhow
I got 4 of these, solid as fuck, but you'll need to replace the screws to black carbon (piss them SS off) and lock tight. I got a 4250kv BL hooked up to a set, (made a testing chassis) and they been abused for a year. heaps of play in the steering axle but no missing teeth, no bent shafts and no cracks in case. just used look to them.
I have already ordered the second one. because I was very happy with the first one. I think that is a matter of luck because the quality of each piece will be different from the work accuracy. Many rant China Noname products and many love the same China Noname products. I think good is that the gears are large and the power is better distributed.
yeah I did the same. bought a set. loved them, bought another sat and they look different but the same. color is off, some of the CNC machining marks are different and the steering link is different. but I do recommend the Xtra speed portal axles. that step better. you know the trx4 lockable diffs fit the scx10 with no mods and 4 linked all round.
@@rvinrcin836 - put a little mark on your input shaft, and start turning it, then count how many revolutions it takes (by seeing how many times your little mark comes around) to turn your wheels a full revolution. You'll probably have to guesstimate the fractional final input turn to get to a full turn of the wheel.
Thanks for that update. I ordered these yesterday then saw some people broke axle shafts . Did yours come with CV type or u-joint? Video looked like CV.
Ik the back is locked but is the front the same? I mean lock diff. This would be a great updrage for my redcat ground pounder but I need slip diffs for sure with rear steer
These are the exact same pair I'm looking to buy to add to my RGT Rock Hammer. What's Udder Butter? For gear cogs, nothing beats cheap old heavy duty lithium grease IMHO.
Does anyone know what ring gear it is? For over drive and underdrive. Alot of people open them but don't figure out what parts you can use from axial or other companies
