The woodlouse will absolutely body any spider of similar size. It's strong, aggressive, and has incredible reach. When it bites another spider, that spider will die in seconds. Absolute badass of an arachnid.
Michael O'Byrne yay I know I hate red blacks and black widows aka Same thing pretty much. I live in aus so it’s red backs for me but they are exact same just red in a diff spot I think
Leashed by the mouth. It strikes me how how not desperate woody was to break free. It knew it was more important to pay attention to his foe. Seems like individual lines were not a problem for woody, even a few. But a mouthful of too only irritated him. He never seemed panicked. How intelligent it was.
Honestly,The Black Widow Would’ve Won If It Was Female.Males Have Less Potent Venom. The Way I Knew It Was Male Is There Was No Red Markings. So Maybe A Tie?
@@blackwaterbelterish177 What the hell are you talking about.. Woodlouse spiders are extremely aggressive I used to put them together with wolf spiders when I was younger and they always kill the wolf spider.. Always.. They're probably the most aggressive spider in North America. Feel free to correct me on that but they're for sure not the type of spider to run away or just not really react if they're touched.
Justin K. My 15 pound chihuahua used to swat at them and eat them all the time. He never once got bit. One thing I will say though, they don’t dart away from you, so they are sort of fearless compared to other spiders. When you come up to them, they don’t ever run away. Stupid of course on their part, cause the shoe is the next thing coming for that ass, but I will give them that. They’re not scared. And like everyone else said. I have put woodlouse hunters in with Wolf, Recluse, Widows, and Grass spiders. They win every time. And always are the first to initiate a fight
The only reason why the Black widow lost is that it was crawling around looking for a WEB nest to crawl into. Had the Black widow already been in a web nest, it most likely would have won. The black widow can't capture prey or defend itself against enemies while it is crawling around on a flat surface. It has to be safely in a web nest in order to do that. But a TARANTULA can be on a flat surface to capture prey or defend itself because a tarantula lives on the GROUND, unlike a WEB NEST-living Black widow.
@@deshondbarnes8163 it looks like the Woodlouse spider is actually semi caught in the widows web. I think the real reason is the louse spiders huge fangs
We have a wood louse as a pet. Voracious eaters. She laid an egg sacred right after my daughter found her. The babies were so cute. We waited to long to separate them from her and she ate every single one of them in a days time😖. Awesome pet though.
Yay finally a spider that kicked the widows butt! I’m sick of them always winning, I hate red backs which are same thing as black widow pretty much but a tad different in colouring etc
I've watched a few of these fights over the last couple of days and this is the first time I've seen the black widow lose, every time I thought the black widow was going to lose it won so I had to give her the edge in this one despite that reddish spider with those huge pinching jaws looked mean an aggressive as hell lol
The only reason why the black widow lost is that the black widow was not in a WEB NEST. Black widows live in WEBS. They don't live on the GROUND. They aren't able to capture prey and defend themselves against enemies when they're crawling around on a flat surface such as the ground or the bottom of a jar.
Black Widow (VENOM): Round and round, here I go. Where I spin, nobody knows! Woodhouse Spider (CARNAGE): Keep at it Venom, I'm the one who will challenge Spiderman. Spiderman: Am I a joke to you both? You're both going down in the next movie!
Why do people think that Black Widows are so fierce just because they have toxic venom. They’re actually not fierce or aggressive. They spin webs and rely on webs to capture prey. They don’t dwell on the ground and wrestle with prey. They are actually kind of delicate like most web weavers are. The Woodlouse is a completely different family of spiders. This is no contest.
It wasnt no contest by any means. The woodlouse spider was in trouble for the majority of the video, but the widow didnt capitalise on the many opportunities it had to sufficiently ensnare the woodlouse spider, always webbing it slightly then wandering off, allowing the woodlouse spider to break free every time.
@@dawudjibreel6075 The Black Widow was not wandering off, it was in full panic mode and trying to escape which is why it keeps flying out of shot all the time at speed. When it realised it could not escape or pin the Woodlouse down enough it tried foolishly at the end to bite the Woodlouse which was just dooming itself at that point as it could never outreach it jaws. The Woodlouse spider is not like many other spiders that the Black Widow tends to wins against if not in a web. It will never takes it eyes off it's opponent and will always try to face them with it armored front and massive jaws spread out to literally out bite almost any other spider of it size range with ease. This is why it almost always watching The Black Widow and why the Black Widow made it's fatal mistake through fear when it realised the Woodlouse would not stop till it killed it. Most Black Widows either web down their opponent and bite a leg or try to come from behind as they are in fact quite cowardly and try to avoid direct contact, at least from the front even in their webs. The Woodlouse is always preventing anything from getting behind it and this behaviour got too much for the Black Widow basically as it's use to the other spider eventually panicking and showing it a flank or their rear for an easy bite. In the Black Widow web it in the ascendance but would still be at risk of being killed should it try and attack from the front if the jaws are still partly operable, outside of it it's just another thing to bite and kill to the Woodlouse as it far more ill tempered for sure when locked in tiny spaces with other invertebrates. It basically a serial killer and the Black Widow knows that even if you did not.
The Woodlouse has huge fangs, that might help her bite out of the range of the Black Widows bite. It looked like an absolutely crushing bite she got it. Game over.
Hi. I am no expert. I photograph spiders as a hobby. That said. I cannot tell if this is a black widow or a false widow without seeing under it. However it did all the classic widow moves. It acted like it was trying to escape all the while wrapping the Woodlouse spider At around 9:16 it moved in for a leg joint bite, (again classic widow. Black Widows will normally bite a leg joint). After the woodlouse spider's abdomen trembled. At 9:45 the woodlouse spider shook off the venom and grabbed the widow. t pulled her in for a bite. The widow was instantly immoblized . It would then come in fir a second bite. It seems that woodlice spiders have some immunity or tolerance to other spider venom.Maybe because they eat woodlice which taste horrible. In the end you can see the lingering effects of the widow's venom. The person who made failed because they did not tell us if the spider lived or ate the widow.
they get close at 9:16 when the widow falls off the wall of the jar, but not close enough for the widow to bite, slow it down to 0.25 speed, you'll see the widow doesnt get a bite in
I expected one of them to be eating the other, but the music was an excellent choice. I think these two blind queens will figure out how to cohabitate based on the information provided here.
I agree with the commenter who said that 9 times out of 10 the black widow is the one who comes out victorious. I began watching this video with that expectation. Seems like MOST spiders and scorpions would much rather not tangle with the black widow. I guess the black widow is considered a predator among most of them. And this one walked around the jar doing what black widows ALWAYS do....spinning her web in an attempt to tangle up its opponents' legs. The woodlouse laid back in the cut in a defensive posture like it was basically saying "Just leave me alone, I don't want to fight you but I will if I have to" and we all know the black widow isn't even listening to that logic.....it's that spider's nature to fight, win or lose. It went in for the kill and the woodlouse laid the deathgrip on her.....Seems like at the end the woodlouse was sitting back in disbelief like "I really killed her huh??".....Ha!! :-)
I would like to see woodlouse spider Vs jumping spider(especially from genus phiddipus or hyllus) One is an aggressive and big fanged tough spider while other is a soft bodied but a skilled and intelligent spider who is more dependent on physical strength than venom.
The Very obvious reason is she was busy trying to get out of that glass she was in ....it was a circumstantial encounter not really a good test here ....
the black wider has a job interview at a scary haunted house and is trying to get to the job interview or would have really killed the blonde head spiders immediately but didn't want to mess up its black hairdoo.
Man that was amazing, and really so close, Just one slip. From the black widow, If it had gone on any longer it would go the other way with the wood louse spider being tangled up and becoming lunch for the black widow.
It was pretty obvious to me that the black widow was trying to get away the whole time, it sensed a treat and wanted nothing to do with it. There was brief contact right after it was dropped in then spent the rest of the time trying to climb out.
"Top of the morning to ya, Mr. Triceratops! Take a look at what I've caught in my glass jar." "Why that's a fine looking Dysdera Crocata! Excellent find, Mr. Ankylosaurus!" "Why thank you. Say, you still have that black widow you caught last week? Care to make a little wager?"
We used to call Woodlouse Spiders Red Devils, and you say my 5th-9th grade school years of studying entomology on my own thanks to personal interest actually consisted of catching these bare handedly on a regular basis. I’ve actually been bitten on numerous occasions as well, with one actually hanging from my pinky while working an overkill of venom into it out of spite. Fun times man, fun times. No seriously, fun times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beethoven 's late string quartets may not be ideal bg music for footage of bugs killing each other, but to refer to any of the late quartets as “elevator music” is so retarded as to beggar belief. They are at the pinnacle of creative genius, decades ahead of their time. To make such an inane remark identifies the author (Dah Dah Beautiful) as a clod of ignorance and stupidity.
Once got bit by a dersiderer crocator two puncture wounds on the tip of finger made finger joints painful ithe pain and numbness move from middle finger to thumb very strange ?
It would seem like the black widow was actually trying to circle and entangle the woodlouse but the woodlouse spider was on to the black widows game and was trying to untangle itself. The woodlouse at times is heavily underestimated and it's jaws are like vice grips! Slashing and breaking shizz up! And it looks like it's got some potent venom as well?! It's jaws almost re mind me of the camel spider. Scissorzor wins!!!
No that black widow wasnt webbing the wood spider...it was scared and tryied to leave...but any other day that boack widow woulda easily webbed down that wood spider and won
@@IvanLopez-dn7vs, bullshit! It's quite obvious the Black Widow was trying to lay web to entangle the Woodlouse, but it didn't work. And the Woodlouse kicked that ass, quit making excuses!
Woodlouse is a brawler, black widow is a tactical fighter . Black widow had the right idea working its way around laying down webbing to trip up the woodlouse but went in for the kill too soon . Widow was simply overpowered .
The woodlouse spider isn't even venomous either, only a biter, which doesn't cause any issues here in the UK. Strange to see one of the deadliest get owned by one of less deadly spiders.
Why doesn't the widow use the web wrap like the Redback does. A Red back will run right in and start wrapping before an opponent can do anything. Goes to show why Aussie spiders are more deadly.
I have a crocada dysdera spider, I caught it,on a glue trap, back in 2006, in an old building I lived in,I don't remember if It was dead or alive, I just decided to check, the glue trap, and was shocked, because I never saw a spider, with large fang's,any way, It's called the Wood Louse spider, and I removed it from the glue trap, with baby oil,and I put it in a medicine bottle, and scare people with it,lol, Here we are in 2019,and I still have it.
This the 2nd vid I seen of them defeating the "poisonous black widow"..........what am I missing?? Found a dead woodlouse spider in my front room. I'm terrified of spiders, very. And to see that it kills a black deadly widow makes me even more frightened
Actually the black widow never intend to attack the red spider either it is afraid of it or it doesnt see it as an enemy. All it does in the whole 10 more minites is crawling to the wall of the jar and find a way to escape. If it wanna attack reddy it should do it when it is behind reddy. Mean while reddy looks suspiciously at the black widow and defend itself at any cost although the black widow never attack it. When blacky tumble and roll down reddy see it as attack and does "counter attack".
A black widow is very intelligent for a arachnid, it only attacks if it's hungry here the widow slept on the strength of the other spider and thought the web will be enough too hold him until he is hungry, that is why he left knowing he was going too be in trouble, the last resort was venom against brute strength and the widow failed
That wood louse spider reminds me of the funnel weaver spiders in Australia highly aggressive oversized fangs and no body hair this must be a small cousin kind of like the red backs and black widows are cousins.
Not quite. Red backs and Black widows are indeed cousins (same Genus), but Wood louse spider and Funnel weavers are different Genus, different Families, and different Sub-Orders. But they do resemble each other
