Zephyr is a captive-born gray wolf at the Wolf Conservation Center (WCC), a 501c3 non-profit organization, in South Salem, NY. He is one of the four 'ambassador wolves' at the WCC that help teach the public about wolves and their vital role in the environment.

I LOVE to hear wolves howling... And was blessed enough to hear them a few times. Heard red wolves in smoky mtns once years ago....they are very musical howls... One of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard... Nature's music. Unfortunately the red wolf population park service introduced to the smokies died out in a couple of years. I think they have introduced them in North Carolina and they are doing well last I heard which is AWESOME 👍😊🐕

Imagine what pre-historic humans thought about thunders and all, they thought they were voices of supernatural beings like gods. To a wolf, maybe it sounds like a great animal or a huge wolf. I know you shouldn't make eye contact with a wolf (they take it as a challenge to attack), but I looked directly into a wolf's eyes in the wild once. Fortunately I was safely in a truck, but boy was it incredible.
