BLACK WOMEN SHOULD BE NORMALIZING LUXURY, but HOW? | Chit Chat | Black Feminine

Hey Loves ! Welcome Back !
Today I wanted to chit chat about the importance of setting the right mind frame and actions around the current conversations pushing for the normalization of luxury for black women. Queens, we deserve lives of ease and grandeur on all levels including but much more than bags, shoes, and cars, but we can not look only to "influencers" to define what that reality is. We must define it for ourselves in our present and plan through financial literacy for its defining in our future . This video is about the importance pieces of normalizing that I see to be left out the conversations. Luxury is in the free time that we have, the food we eat, the self care + beauty regimens, and services we can afford to consistently partake in to bring ease to our lives.
#chitchat #girltalk #normalizeluxury #blackwomeninluxury
I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Until Next time .

Self care is so important... facials, manicures, pedicures... all luxuries that should be monthly expenses!

This is a great video. My grandmother was born in 1921. When she died she left her 4 children millions in paid property in 2 states. Money and insurance plans. I grew up upper middle class but she didn’t wear the big brands like everyone is doing now. I do purchase some lux items because I would rather have a few quality pieces over a lot of fast fashion pieces. I’m currently working on starting my own company so I can leave more for my son. I want him to be CEO of his on industry after I’m gone. I want generational wealth.

I love what you said about luxury being subjective. For me, luxury is being a digital nomad, meeting people of different cultures, eating freshly grown food, creating art, and having fun! Love this video 🤗

To me luxury is not 300 dollar shoes it’s being able to pass down property and businesses down to your children. ❤️ But I do enjoy seeing black people looking sharp.

Its still okay to embrace luxury. Believe, leaving insurance and money builds generational wealth too!

That’s the ultimate goal but bumming it is not living. My main goal is generational wealth and I cut out luxury just to realize that I deserve it all as well. I’m childless and I’m already on track and doing well. I get one life. My children will be fine.

I know you didn’t writing anything about “bumming” but I just chose that word figuratively.

I know what a Birkin was way before the city girls and jayda. Dating from sex and the city. I love your point. I believe black women need to normalize luxury but at a certain extent. I feel like this generation allows material items to define them. Normalize getting degrees. Normalize cash flow and normalize good credit. My overall goal is to be in a million dollar property with good credit. I could choose to drive my 2019 Corolla or a Mercedes but it’s not that serious to me.

Preach it sister! It’s okay to have what you want but people are taking it to new levels. I also hate that we value so many material things and quickly shell out money on this such as bags and cars but aren’t invested in long term financial and personal growth. Bags can’t be taken to your grave and at the end of the day, the Birkin and [insert random material] here won’t produce generational wealth or feed your family once you’re dead. I’m all for living life, enjoying life and buying things that you value (different for everyone) but priorities are pardon my French (fucked) and many are funding material versus goals and things that will actually help them elevate. Thanks for the video. You are amazing! Hugs ❤️

You are so right, I just read how LV had human petting zoos, and you already know who was on display. Made me think about how we have spending power, but don’t realize what we are really supporting.

I grew up middle class, I always had designer items, I lived with my grandma who's motto was if you can afford it get it. My mom used to make fun of me and called me bougie, etc. I always felt ashamed of living this way, I'm starting to grow out of that mindset now that I'm a mom.

So tired of the attitudes and sly remarks when I want "better", not even really "luxury".. Its stifling.. I dont want super expensive items. I want quality opportunities and sources for inspiration that money can help me into, for myself, future, and future generations.

Black women have been normalizing luxury. We consume more than we save and invest. Everyone knows this, which is why everyone markets their wares to us.

Amen to you touching on the levels of luxury. I appreciate that you explained that luxury is relative to each individual, that individuals should do things according to what they can afford, and not splurging beyond one's means for appearances sake. In my opinion, some of those material things become irrelevant once you've achieved a certain level of consciousness anyway. Most of all I appreciate you mentioning PUTTING IN THE WORK while making sensible choices . I also believe that we CAN have things/see the world/enjoy fine dining by educating ourselves, working smarter not harder, and making investments, etc. All of which can be obtained without suffering or self sacrifice. OMG! This needs way more views! This is my first time seeing you and I've also subscribed.

I love that this was said I am not really materialistic when it comes to tangible luxury. I only have 2 designer bags. I grew up in a pretty well-off family like upper middle class and to me luxury was traveling and eating well. I love concerts, traveling, and eating good food. A lot of people will be like where’s your Birkin bag or where’s your xyz instert tangible item here. However my money is spent on my travel.

Personally I don't like this whole thing about depriving yourself from minor luxuries just to save money. If it's not to invest in another activity which will generate more money, what are you saving for?? Like u said, life is short and you could literally die tomorrow while saving money for no reason. If you need to spend more become familiar with your finance s and find ways to make more. Don't limit yourself forever to your situation. I understand what you're saying about affordability, but I think we need to encourage people to generate more money so they can afford their luxuries instead of telling them that they should remain in that

A year later and this video is still hitting facts. I didn’t realize that each year I clean my feed of the bs that does not serve me. I now use the mint app to track spending. Whew $700 eating out each month. Girl my savings thank me now.

Each individual level of standards will have a huge impact on what is luxury to them. Self care services nails, hair, facials, massages should be regular services because it improves your overall well-being the benefits are so much more than the outward appearance. Can self care services be on the level of luxury? Absolutely but can it be apart of your regular expenses absolutely! Black women should be able to responsibly enjoy luxury without having to explain anything to anybody or feeling bad.

Luxury is not items tho in our society though many jones associate it. Luxury is an ease of comfort convenience and security or given those who live on credit to appear living a luxurious lifestyle imo the appearance of to others.
@monie3558
@monie3558 3 года назад
Maybe you should just Google the definition because that’s actually not what it means
@dhl1288
@dhl1288 3 года назад
@@monie3558 wow lol you are aware that imo is in my opinion right? That the definition is and I quote...'the state of great comfort and extravagant living'... So what exactly about what I considered it hard to grasp humm that was so different from the definition? Was it the ease of COMFORT convenience and security or the implication that most people exist on credit to give the appearance of luxury to others? That debt from attempting to live a luxurious lifestyle on credit so many gloss over nonwithstanding.
