Tutorial on how to fix your blackberry keyboard problems for free. Do not reinstall the OS for nothing. Clean that trackball, the click under and the whole navigation module, Your keys will be fine afterwards.
open up the phone and take the white sticker out, under each key that is not working use a pencil and with graphite to clean or alcohool will also wotk. Hope this helps
Thank you this helped quite a bit. Even though my trackball housing was clean, I gave it an extra rub with alcohol and replaced the parts, which solved the JK, OU, MN problem. However, sometimes I still get inconsistent response from the keyboard, such as the "S" button spitting out three or four S's at a time, or the "R" button requiring an extra click to get one R. I will be trying to replace the PCB pad for that.
@Zetrox2k Yap, take that oyster out and clean please, it's not the trackball module alone it's the click too like in the video, so take the yellow sticker out and the oyster, clean and put it back, please use some scotch tape to put the oyster back as the yellow sticker might not stick back (forgot that part in the video) let me know your results...great to hear from you
Well I used: - Rubbing Alcohol, - Cotton Cue tip, - The yellow tape is thermal resistant but you can use scotch tape to hold in place the oyster (click) - a pointy thing I used a half nail scissors but anything that will give you precision will do. Basically everything you need should be around any household. Really hope this helps :)
there are 4 clips near the corners on the longer sides, you should use a small scissors pointy blade to open. pull twards the outside...it should open, Be very carefull not to break the plastic clips, it's better they remain in place :)
haha thank you soo much! ^_^ after droping my phone in the toilet and drying it out with a hairdryer, the keyboard started doing this :) liked and subbed =]
what if your keyboard just is not working at all because of water damage? Do i still open it up and clean it up? The parts have been separated for two days to dry.
not working for me mate. pulled trackball out, it was already VERY clean, used alcohol, tried replacing trackball, nothing works. basically sam problem that ur blackberry produces except clicking the track ball does nothing either. it actually clicks however so i didnt need to fix the oyster. even tried replacing the trackball... any other ideas?
hi i have a blackberry 9800. the physical keyboard will not work after droping it .. all of the letters dont work and it doesn't light up when i slide it up. what could i do ?
Help. my blackberry bold 9000 is blocking the keypad, and i can never exit out of anything, and it randomly starlts typing "nmnmnmnmnmnmnmnm", and i erase/scroll/exit, because EVERYTHING except the lock button, and screen arent working... PLEASE help !
hi alex, my blackberry bold 9900 lock button on top is quite flushed making it difficult for me to unlock the phone in ease .. do you know anyway we could fix it?
It sounds like a software problem rather than a hardware one...in principle there is a process that gets stuck and your phone freezes as you said. Solution is to back the phone up. 2download the firmware. 3install firmware and navigate to c/progr files/ common files/ research in motion/apploader and delete vendor.xml. 4connect blackberry to computer without the battery inside !!! 5 launch the "Loader" from same location as nr "3".6 go through the wizard "waiting for the device" put battery IN
hello alexbimos, i am having a similar problem to this, my trackball works fine but my keyboard sometimes works, and then my phone freezes, and then i scrape keyboard i press every button and then phone works again, and then freezes, i have cleaned this area but still there is no fix? thanks
It is the not the trackball in this case, you need to open the phone and clean each key that is malfunctioning, if you prefer to send it to me I will e-mail you the full address, regards, Alex
Yap, you have to open the phone "see videos on youtube - - many" and open up the sticker that holds the keys...You will see oxidation under the keys that are making "doubles" :) Clean with Isopropil Alcohol aka rubbing alcohol, or simply scretch with a pointy thing the oxidation off, from both phone and click-able key. Do not scretch too much the phone to damage contacts. Do not damp the sticker as you will need to stick it back. You should be fine...Let me know if you encounter issues ...Regs
@heemskerk10 simple, management of the keypad passes the trackball board, you have to see the big picture here...no only the key it's self is the problem but along the link to the motherboard there can be issues and mostly these issues are dead ends for your average repair guy :) (not me:) )
if it's just "a" open the phone and look under the sticker of the letter "A" you should see oxidation, have a look at my other videos and see how to clean a keyboard with graphite it's best. Thanks for watching
