I also suggested that Microsoft should have bought Blackberry instead of Nokia, rim technology at the time would have turned Microsoft Mobile into a corporate phone brand
I partly agree, and I also think if they were to go toe to toe with Samsung Galaxy Note or any of their top tier phones instead of going after everybody and telling people in that stupid commercial they were beta testers. If they just did as Samsung did with Apple they could have got more people behind them.
@@Shaxzara excuse me sir. The keyboard is BB verification in this world. The problem is they are trying to be like everyone else and we are tired of everyone else 😴
@@mydjmode not having a strategy to support the platform is apples and oranges. They do have a community that 'till this day, supports them. The PROBLEM is they didn't activate them/us or make it worth it, same as windows. This BI Degree came in handy 😎
My blackberry bold survived a 6 meter drop (16,4 feet) and still lasted for a full other year. It was fantastic! I remember playing "Copter" for hours in the bus xD. Sadly, I replaced it with a Blackberry Curve that did not turn to be as good or durable. Finally, after only a year of the Curve, I went iPhone with a 4S.
But they are using Android. Isn’t it rather ironic? Android is not known for software stabilization and privacy. Google is the biggest violator of privacy. I would believe the privacy aspect if they still use their own software and BBM.
The Z10 should have been the phone to rival the iPhone from the beginning. They took to long to react to Apple. They lacked innovation because they have the majority stake at the time. When they failed to innovate and stick to their same formula which included very glitchy devices it signed its demise. Too bad too cause I loved BlackBerry back then.
The Z10 failed, just like every all-touch BlackBerry failed. You don't buy a Berry to type on glass. There are better options from other manufacturers for that.
Here's the thing about Blackberry phones. Tech reviewer love them. Very few really hate them. You ask any big tech reviewer if they've used one in the past and all will say it's unmatched at email. But for the public it's just not like that. They just want ease of use, big screen to watch stuff, full interactive screen for social media and gaming. Blackberry just isn't that kind of phone. I think the next gen will be very expensive and aimed solely at the corporate world. Hopefully the big companies will buy them in mass again.
The problem is big companies can't make your brand stay afloat. It's the ordinary consumers that make your product profitable. It's the phone that's in the hands of people you see in malls, buses, trains, offices and other establishments--everywhere.
@@tomons8059 And the reason we see mostly them phone is because they offer the features the masses want. Blackberry is only for a very small percentage that is declining as far as physical keyboards go. I love using Blackberry....... But....... Since 2015 it's always been my 2nd device. Always used for work only. Coz let's face it, Netflix on the key2 is not like it is on iPhone xs max is it. But work flow on the iPhone isn't like it is on the key2 with the precision of the keyboard with all its instant functions.
@Jessica Jessica I'm still using mine, works very well. But since no more security updates, I'll probably go another year or so before I switch. Unless something really catches my eye to change my mind.
@@The-Heart-Will-Testify I don't need a phone that would last forever. I don't need an antique. Technology changes so fast that sporting last year's model would make you look cheap.
Blackberry is the zombie of the corporate world. It will keep rising up no matter how many times you kill it. Rasputin is the unofficial God of blackberry who everyone in the company worships but never reveal in public.
The people that didn't buy a blackberry because they couldn't use instagram wouldn't really have gotten a use out of blackberry on the first place. It was a company catering to professionals
I'm pretty sure there'll be a sliding keyboard. Like, if you want to type you just scroll the keyboard down! Edit: I wrote this comment on the first minute of the video and did not see his take on the new blackberry phone.
BlackBerry Passport is most powerful BB10 phone per specs. However it is too late to buy a BB10 phone unless it's going to be used as a secondary phone.
I've been using Blackberry Passport for almost 6 years...THE best business communication device! I also got Passport Silver Edition when it came out. However, Blackberry sucks on apps, so I have both Passports for work an Android for play.
I am currently using the BlackBerry KeyOne. It's a really nice looking phone (professional/buisness looking), the battery lasts all day long with one charge. It's run on Android and includes a digital touchscreen keyboard as well as the real keyboard that BlackBerry offers. I've had it for almost 2 years and love it.
I'm currently using the Blackberry Key1, I was planning to get the Key3 until TCL announced that they won't be doing BlackBerry phones anymore. I'm looking forward the 2021 BlackBerry new phones
I remember my first ever BlackBerry. It was a Bold 9000 which I got for work. I was (I think) 19 years old. I spent a good chunk of the morning setting up email and all that fun stuff. I absolutely loved this thing. I went to a local Rogers store and brought one as a personal device. Haven't looked back since. Right now, I'm using the Unihertz Titan. Only because it has a physical keyboard. Cannot wait for the new BlackBerry device to come out!
@@KBoon The Unihertz Titan out of the box, is enough to send someone to Shutter Island. Once you put in a few tweaks and another launcher, this thing becomes an absolute beast. The only thing that I love about it, is the battery. I listen to music while I work (on a farm these days) and if at lunch I watch RU-vid videos with paired Bluetooth headsets. I get to 17% at 6 p.m. eastern standard time
@@Deezy07 How's typing on the keyboard though? I had one earlier this year but sold it and went back to my KEY2 because I found the keys too stiff to type comfortably.
I used blackberry Z10 in 2013 and it was most beautiful phone I have used , the camera quality, typing experience , blackberry HUB and messenger these were the best
People were either too ignorant or didn't notice how great BBOS 10 was. It was far ahead of its time. Android & IOS are still newly introducing features Blackberry introduced in 2013.... It's really sad that the new phones are coming with android. BBOS 10 was and still is great. Still rocking a 2013 Blackerry Q10!
Blackberry users loved them. They were nicknamed : "Crackberry's" because they were so addicting. It was a functional tool that helped manage the day. It was the first phone that allowed me to ditch my old Franklin planner. It was solid and durable, unlike modern phones covered in glass that need a cover or OtterBox. It was the last phone that I had that I didn't put in an Otterbox. Blackberry was my favorite phone of all time.
It's old news now but it's noteworthy that we Canadians didn't think the iPhone wasn't a threat, it's that we couldn't get it. For a long time, only one service provider (Rogers) could carry the iPhone because it was GSM. In the few years it took the iPhone to add HSPA, those of us who wanted an iPhone but didn't/couldn't/wouldn't go with Rogers fell in love with our BlackBerry devices.
@@chilly556 nah it’s just annoying because he’s not great with tech and only buys it because of the keyboard I think an iPhone would be much easier for him to use.
@@twoah927 I think you should just give him cheap Android, lol. Old people can learn you know.... If everything is easy people's brain won't work, and I think it would be easier to be fooled if the brain is never challenged by problem solving.
I want a Priv with a flat screen, biometrics, a stylus, a modern SoC, USB C, a crazy big battery, and a Pixel-like camera... I know... Never gonna happen... Sigh... The Priv was 1 or 2 iterations away, and was just super unlucky with its timing around the crappy 808 chipset and no native biometrics...
Give Me A BlackBerry Priv 2 • Dual Front Facing Stereo Speakers (Dolby Atmos?) • Headphone Jack (You Never Know Bcz Of The Trend) • Quad DAC • IR Blaster • Keyboard Like The Q10 😍 • 6-8GB Of Ram • 256GB Of Storage • USB Type C • Micro SD Card Slot • FM Radio • Temperature/Humidity Sensor (The Galaxy Note 3) • Heart Rate Monitor • iris Scanner • Physical Fingerprint Scanner • All The Usual Camera Hardware Trend! • Skip Qualcomm For Samsung's Exynos + AMD!!! (Cut The Cost)
When I used to work at a very large telco company back in 2005 to 2009, I handled the BlackBerry quality control division. I played around with so much BlackBerry devices and models which was so much fun. BlackBerry dominated the business Smart Phones before now its so sad to see they are no longer RIM's baby and seeing them struggling. Well.... NOKIA also went down the drain. I guess it's true on what they say ---- "When you're on top, there's no where else to go but down"
I'm watching this on a silver Key2 right now. All the keys still intact and clear (never got blurry). I love the keys! Everyone who sees it asks to see it because everyone else's phone looks similar, all black screen. Mine has a classy touch keyboard on it.
I completely agree with your idea, just like the PRIV. I don't really understand that TCL brought back the keyboard in such a way (KeyOne and KeyTwo). Sliding keyboard is the best implementation of physical keyboard.
I would love to see a modern jab at full qwerty phones. Two things I’ve missed most in phones; the flip and the physical keyboard. Granted I was surprised at how well I adjusted to touch screens even back in the day, I still never enjoyed texting the same to this day. My old Keybo 2 phone was the perfect blend of a flip with a big screen, and a full keyboard. It would be cool if they could do something like that with a playful hinge or something. (Also surprised tech reviewers seldom look back at the keybo?? I loved that thing)
Even in 2011, having a Blackberry Bold was a bigger flex than having an iPhone.. but the iPhone 5 and 5s just immediately destroyed BB when they launched...
@@dylanpower1438 yeah so? Read it again. Even in 2011, when the 4 and 4s were around the bb bold was huge.. when the 5 and 5s came out in ‘12 and ‘13.. it destroyed bb
I only ever wanted a phone with a physical keyboard. I waited until it simply was no longer a viable option for me. I grew up with my BlackBerry, and my next phone was pretty much the last Android with a keyboard. I’d love to have that option again.
What's so sad here is that the BlackBerry Key2 is SUCH an awesome device. I can out-edit so many electronic-keyboard users with this full-Android (or just-about full-Android) masterpiece. Unfortunately, it's an admittedly invisible device, and Verizon won't even support it. Too bad - I hope someone cracks the code here and gets a physical-keyboard device out into the market that people realize have the kind of incredible utility that my Key2 has.
Some people have gotten their KEY2 to work on Verizon by calling Verizon and telling the rep that its a KEY2 LE and that they provision it as CDMA-less. Others have also an LE and moved the sim card to their KEY2 and said it worked.
The Torch was really nice and it last forever. The BlackBerry OS (10) was buttery smooth, but they take too long, the market already left them. The Priv is really nice too, one of the biggest screen they had in the market. Yep, those were the days of our lives.
Blackberry was the celebrity phone, an iconic brand, it was what the “The hills” girls and all the IT kids in hollywood used back in 2008-09 If Blackberry would’ve just made a great first touchscreen phone we would probably have blackberry as the second mobileOS instead of Android.
I miss my Blackberry Q10 soooo much. The only reason I had to bail on it was that eventually all the apps dried up as there was no support, otherwise I would have kept using it for sure
I think it will be a fun if BlackBerry started creating BlackBerry OS again but as a competitor to KaiOS or its analogues, because that is simply the place in the market where keyboard is not considered as something weird, plus, system would be much faster and secure than KaiOS.
I sometimes miss having a physical keyboard, especially when using my phone in landscape mode since the touch keyboard takes up so much of the available screen space. I miss the original motorola droid phones with the sliding landscape keyboards. If my OP8 had one it would be worth it being a little thicker.
Why they are so over obsessed with the qwerty keyboard? I mean why? An additional physical keyboard, which we don't need that much, instead of that, they can give a larger oled screen. I mean who they are targeting these phones?
BB10 based phones were solid. I owned a z30 and a passport before switching to iPhone and then to Samsung. To this date, I would choose BB10 based phones at a heartbeat compared to Android/iPhones. The OS on itself is very fluid with it's gesture based operations. At the least, I hope Android/iOS rips off the Blackberry hub feature.
I am using a Blackberry Motion and Key2. Blackberry is essential for having the most secure possible mobile phone. Blackberry is mainly used by people in high levels of government and corporations where true and strong security is required. The construction quality and durability of Blackberry phones are of high quality. The Blackberry phones of today are using the Android OS, specially developed for Blackberry.
I think Blackberry should follow Nokia right now because both of them have a similar history. Nokia used to make windows phones and failed to compete against android and ios. But they are still famous for their old keypad phones. So they are making keypad phones with Kai OS, the phones come at a very cheap price of less than 50$. Nokia might not be doing very well with their smart phones but their keypad phones are selling very well, and also Kai OS is already having a huge user base to support its growth. Blackberry should make simple keypad phones with Kai OS or Puffin OS, also the price should be as low as possible (10 $ to 50 $) If they try to compete directly with other smartphones they will fail again. Once they have a strong user base they can start making high end premium phones just like apple and samsung.
I'm guessing that Indonesia's phone market singlehandedly saved Blackberry from completely tanking. When everyone else in the world were already using slab smartphones, Blackberry was still all the rage in Indonesia. I guess they really like that tactile mini keyboard.
I miss my BlackBerry Z30. BB10.3 was a great OS. It was really unfortunate that they couldn't get any major apps. If they had worked on that while android was in it's early stages things might be very different. But alas, here we are today. Looking forward to hearing what Onward Mobility has to offer.
Even now, my phone personalization is still based on my old Blackberry... --Blackberry should've focused on Business, CUG & Maximum Device security on Android ...
The problem with BlackBerry is that they sell their phones at a premium price for mid-tier hardware. That may have worked when they were number 1 but not realistic nowadays. Would love to see them rise again.
Give me the Blackberry passport full screen with a slide out keyboard from the side or bottom. Give me a wonderful front and rear camera system that can be just as good as the top Samsung, Iphone, or Pixel. Slap a good battery size to it. I'll buy it so long as it's not over $1,200.
There’s just something with BB that makes it unique that when you see someone using a BB you can feel some intimidation or thrills. Unlike when you see someone using Samsung or iPhone, it’s just like “k.” and that’s it.
Apple has invaded the Mobile Industry since the beginning of the 1st Iphone..Steve Job is genius..I hope BlackBerry will come back strong in this game..
