Absolutely awesome !!! I remember the days When we were teenagers growing up what a time got so much respect for them and their music absolutely a lifelong dream come true for them I am so happy for them all .one of the great bands ever. Brother Richard and everyone love you guys keep it up don’t stop !!! RIP Brother Britt 🥁 DP 2024
Blind Ivan - thanks for this video. Can't get enough of Blackberry Smoke. Charlie was on fire at the Firewater Festival. AWESOME! Thanks again for this video, and so many more 🎉 🍻
Thank you Blind Ivan for making my day. Beautifully filmed concert. So good to see Brit back behind the drums. Got my tickets for 24 March 2023 in Paris! 4th concert. Can't ever get enough of Blackberry Smoke. Merci, merci from the bottom of my heart for this full set live in Kansas. Linda in France.
Linda, I’ve had the good fortune of seeing them about 6 times in my area in the last year and a half and travelled to the homecoming show in Atlanta this past November. They’re on fire right now. Their sound is as tight as it’s ever been. You’ll love the show in March. Enjoy it
One of the best bands out there with one of the best front men in the business! Charlie Starr does it all. Great songwriter, phenomenal guitar playing and a killer lead singer!!!
Blind Ivan: Re-watching with such joy and then the sadness with Brit Turner's passing 3 March 2024. Re prices: Europe seems pretty good. Brussels: 35 euros; 45 Euros for Paris and because I decided to do the VIP 258 Euros (30 euros without the VIP) in Milan, Italy for the 3 BBS concerts in September/Oct 2024. 70 euros for the Black Crowes in Paris ; 122 euros for Rod Stewart in Paris. 125 euros for Bonamassa in Paris. Looks like it's a good idea to be in Europe for concerts!!! Cheers to all and a million thanks for this show Blind Ivan. Merci!!!
@@Blind-Ivan Thanks for your personal reply. Are you at The Shed this year? Come on over to Europe for great concerts at reasonable prices and great fans of rock 'n roll!!! Cheers. Linda
@@Blind-Ivan Cool! I was born in Eugene and grew up there! Never been to Nashville. I'm jealous! Rock on! Yikes: Pendleton, Or! My grandparents lived there and in Pilot Rock nearby. Ages ago I visited now and then (like from 1958 -1966). Eons ago. It was rodeos then, not cool music festivals! Rock rock rock on!
The best show I've ever attended. I live 5 min from here and just happened to go check it out and ended up staying until the end and downloading all of their music to my phone and listening to them on repeat haha
Have you seen the prices of concert tickets lately ?? Outrageous !!! $350 for nosebleed seats .. bullshit !!! This awesome show occurred less than 6 months ago and here it is on You Tube. Thank you YT ..
Thank you for doing a great job of recording and sharing this! It is great to see Britt back drumming again! 🙏 Charlie is great and getting better all the time along with rest of band ! Glad Benji is a permanent now ! Have seen them alot 1st time 5/13 at the Tophat ! Thank you !!
Thanks for uploading this! I’m absolutely loving this and I love the Whiskey Myers concert you uploaded. My friend went and saw Whiskey Myers back in February and said how great they were! I look forward to seeing what other concerts you attend in the future!
Re-watching: always brilliant. Question: Blackberry Smoke concerts in Europe 2023: Any fans in Europe interested in Meet and Greet? I've looked at the tour page and it seems the price is 250 euros for the tour... hmmm. I'm only able to go to one show (Paris) and don't understand why the price would not be just for that show. Am I missing something? No answer via email to the powers that be. Ideas? Best, Linda in France. And one more time thank you so much Blind Ivan for a super show!
Blind Ivan, hey there. I'm on a "Re-watching tour" of Blackberry Smoke. This concert just knocks my socks off. Like good wine, this just gets better and better. Come on over to France in March 2023 and film BBS in Paris! Got my ticket for 24 March 2023. Been waiting since 2018 to see them in France again. (Did see them in Oregon and Antwerp in the meantime!) Lordy me, I love Charlie and the Smoke. It just doesn't get any better. Merci one more time for this super full set from Kansas!
Saw them play during the 'Holding all the Roses' tour in Glasgow & on the 'Find a Light' tour in Belfast, superb band with a great bandleader in Charlie, the band may get larger but they lose none of that BBS swagger, that tight but loose feeling you get from a seasoned band.
Hey Joe. I keep going back and forth; looking at clips/concerts of BBS with just Richard, Brit, Brandon, Paul and Charlie... they really rock my boat. I'm just not sure why they have added to the band. Have been appreciating Benji... he does have talent, no kidding. For the big shows I do like to see ALL the folks (Black Betties, especially)... but... are you conflicted with the "getting bigger" BBS? Fans out there... your thoughts? I'm still 50-50. Hmmm. But we're rocking on. Linda
@Linda Thalman I suppose it comes down to the sound. They have brought in Benji, a childhood friend of Charlie, i believe, who is an accomplished player on slide, acoustic & the odd solo. I feel that perhaps with Charlie & Benji being friends & playing shows as a duo at times, it became a more organic addition & i wager it lightens the load for Charlie but i do feel like Paul is being sidelined a little. I am not sure what purpose the additional percussionist is.I think he plays horns occasionally. I am not sure if the black bettys were brought in before or after the Capricorn sessions with Jimmy Hall, but i feel it gives them more a Black Crowes vibe, the band from which they got their moniker. I love the TTB, but i don't ever need to see BBS go anywhere near that big as i have always found their sound full & robust but with poor Brit going through his health issues we will see further changes on occasion but i don't think the additional musicians detract from the band but possibly a tighter unit would give the band the harder edge they had say on Whippoorwill but i digress, their music is still great, just wish it came on a more frequent basis.
@@joet6434 What a lovely, well put reply. Learned through watching acoustic shows that Charlie and Benji have played together for over a decade. Wow. Agree totally that Paul is being sidelined... not given his due. I'm a BIG Paul fan and keep writing on RU-vid clips he needs to be miked better and, in fact, I'd like to see each band member given a song or a bit of a song in a spotlight. The Stones do it. Why not BBS. I've been "shot down" for sarcastically complaining about the percussionist waving a "fan". Read that Brit said he needed a rest from doing it all: drums, marimbas, "wavy things (my words), tambourine, etc. and he was glad there was a guy at his side. We are contradictory Joe: additional musicians don't detract... BUT less might be better? In one way I don't see how having MORE musicians is an advantage "money wise"; but I sincerely can't judge the musicality advantages. More is better? Not sure. I do know I LOVE the SMOKE with just the 4 and then 5 when Brandon joined. Yikes they started in2001 (I've not seen clips from then); then clips I've seen from 2006/7/8/9/10 up to when then went to the newest BBS. I've watched everything there is and LOVE it all. BBS gotta decide their destiny. I'm along for the ride. Cheers, Linda in France
@Linda Thalman i too am along for whatever they have in store no matter the line-up, well aslong as Charlie is there to steer the ship. I suppose what i was trying to say as to the band size but doing so poorly was that as a smaller unit, they were leaner, meaner, more attacking, but that was also because the band was still figuring themselves out, having issues with getting records out because of the label they were on hence why we never saw the inital record & it's sophmore release in my part of the world, i am not sure if it applied across the rest of Europe but my first exposure was hearing Shakin Hands on Planet Rock, thus my love of the band began & continues to grow. Whipporwill was more of a rock record & the first of theirs i could purchase & it remains my favourite to this day. Now they are more well established & have had time to hone their craft, release records more steadily & gain more exposure & recognition as all good artists & music should. Their music has evolved & grown as has their line-up whether you see it as a good or bad thing is up to all fans. They appeal to a wider audience now because they incorporate more influences like country & funk but retain the dna that forged them. The fact they are one of the tightest live outfits with the ability to improvise without missing a beat & engaging the audience makes them a force to be reckoned with. I hope their music & fandom continue to grow as a band of their calibre deserve it. Apologies for waffling. I probably didn't make any sense this time or answer the question any better.
@@joet6434 Wow are we on the same page... I'm in France; where are you? Watching the early clips...2010 and the South Carolina concert; yep they were just getting started... after 10 years on the road. Mean and clean and aggressive. Agree. From what I've read/heard in interviews the boys have gone through some shitty record companies but have gotten things straightened out for now. Agree: Whippoorwill perhaps the BEST. I only saw BBS on Colbert 2017 for the first time. I fell hook, line and sinker in 30 seconds. Agree: listen to all their albums over time and watching the clips/concerts it is quite a good evolution; not a revolution. Super fans out there/here. You sure seem to be one of them! Rock on Joe T. You've got one heck of a good insight into my most favorite band: Blackberry Smoke. Are you a "professional" music "critic" (in the good sense of the word!). You hit the nail on the head with your comments. Merci/Thanks. Linda near Paris, France.
Utrecht? Sold out so says the web site. Have a super concert. 22 March. I'm counting the days until 24 March in Paris! Rock on Wilco. BBS are brilliant. Linda
The last young rebels of Southern Rock...? God I hope not...we need the South to do it again, and this time, come with guns blazing and take no prisoners!! this world is in chaos and in such horrible confusion it is unrecognizable!!
Just a thought guys: how about Paul, Richard or Brit doing an "intro" and appreciation and a little "roast" of Charlie? He never gets introduced. How about for Charlie's 50th birthday? Charlie (Gray) Starr deserves an intro at every show!
I've got tickets for the Smoke 2 oct. 2024 at the Alcatraz. Driving from Paris to Milano! VIP tics to finish their tour after Brussels and Paris! See you there???? Linda
@@lindathalman3506 Yeh, of course I'm coming. It's a bummer The Steel Woods have cancelled and disbanded, their last album is absolute gold, they would have made a great opening act. But I never miss The Smoke when I get the chance.
Greatness. How much$ for a live in the backyard weekend concert??? As the heat warms the Shenandoah valley of Virginia. I can't find the song about a woman an crystal meth.
