Blackland Blackbird Lite 

Brilliant point you made about only having to "paint on" lather for the 2nd and 3rd passes. That's because the vast majority of the whiskers are removed after the 1st pass. This will save new shavers a lot of time and effort. They can focus on a good scrub for the 1st pass only and then relax a bit more after that. You should be a tenured Professor at the "Dundee School of Shaving".

Received my blackland lite last week and must say it shaves beautifully. A lot less blade feel to the original but still shaves very close. Nice shave Kevy 👌

My wife and I have a friend, Liz Gillespie, who lives in Dundee. She is a principal in the McLean Scotland Travel company. We were able to visit her there in 2013. Maybe we will get back there sometime soon and possibly meet you as well. Great shave as always!

Very nice shave. Your very fortunate to have a shave store in your city. Where im at i have to drive several hours to see one. Myself i did order and try some new things. My sotd was my new Pearl K2 razor with the Gentleman blade. I ordered and used Chiseled Face Summer Storm. Nice shave. The soap smelled like cut grass mixed with morning rain. Nice out door like scent. I havent seen chiseled face used in a long time. Shave as its a good soap company. If you get the chance, get some. Have a great weekend

Got the Blackland Blackbird (normal version) for Christmas, and I've been extremely impressed with it. The best blade I've found for me, was the blade you used in your shave Kevy, it was a outstanding shave with the Silver Blue. I got the Blackbird with both base plates (safety bar and open comb) but as yet I haven't tried the open comb yet. I'll probably have another five or six shaves and then try the open comb. When I purchased it I couldn't decide on either the standard handle or the long handle, so I ordered the long handle as a separate item on the order. I used the long handle for the first time on my last shave and found it more manoeuvrable than the standard handle length, and I would class myself has having small hands. It's great Blackland have come out with a lite version, as it will allow more people to enjoy the Blackbird, as a lot of people find it a bit blade forward in it's feel and a bit aggressive due to this. Personally I find it on the efficient side, but at the same time smooth with it

I am yet to try any of the Blackland line of razors. My plan was to get a Blackbird, then the Vector. Now that the Lite has proven itself a solid performer, with another platform of geometry. It has now complicated my choice from this point. You are so fortunate to have Ian Thomson's knowledge, and a well appointed shoppe in Dundee. There is no such retailer here in San Antonio, other than Art of Shaving (most locations closed). Darron has mastered his formulations since his inception of the Super Smooth, to the 1912 line of soap bases. He now is a full line artisan which is momentous to see. This evening's session was outstanding! I had forgotten about that Wolf Whiskers brush. It performs as gorgeously as it looks. Lather was immense; using skill, Dundee water, and a quality soap, and brush. The blade pairing was well chosen. Great end result, with nigh a weeper anywhere. I was curios at the post-shave. Since May Chang has a prominent citrus note, I presumed you would have utilized L'occitane's CADE. Nevertheless, a flawless episode from start to finish. Well done. Cheers!

Great shave Kevy. Not tried the Lite but LOVE my Titanium Blackbird just the way it is. Didn't care for the SS but the Titanium changes it believe it or not. I read others say it and thought, that's crazy. Tried one and was shocked the softer metal feel would change it that much. Never tried that soap, must be nice to go into a Bricks & Mortar shave store !

Not sure I’ll ever try the lite as the original is my favorite razor. I’m not even a fan of aggressive razors but it just hits the spot.

I have the Blackbird Ti and find it less aggressive than the SS model already so I don't think I will be interested in the Lite plate since the Ti version suits me well already. Have a great weekend! 👍

18th of December, 2020. I was looking at the photo of us outside the shop. I have the Blackland brush which is a cracker for sure. The razors are beautiful, but were just a little expensive. You know me? I'd be more likely to head for the fragrance counter instead 😁

Hey Kevy great shave! I received my BB Ti Lite a couple of days ago was really curious to see how much smoother it would be compared to my the regular Ti. I have to say maybe because both are so lightweight and you can control the blade on the original with good pressure awareness I didn't find the Lite to be a gamechanger on blade feel and glide.

On my list those gentleman groom room soaps, lite looks good but think I'll stick with my original blackbird. Don't mind the blade feel. Recommend trying those bespoke London aftershaves SuperDrug do, really cheap but some cracking scents. 👌👌

Great shave. For me, I don’t mind the blade feel. I’m just used to feeling the blade from whatever razor I use. The Blackland razor would be something I would save up for when I get paid an insane amount of money. How come you don’t like blade feel from a razor? Have a good one!

I wonder if someone with a cloth buffing wheel could take those sharp corners down for you. Like a local metal shop or car auto body shop. I bet some of the craftsman you know that make brush handles could do it.

Great shave Kevy - where would you put this razor as compared to the razors I prefer such as the 6S 2 or 3 plate, Karve A or B plate, PAA Meta-4, Aylsworth Drakkant/Kopparkant, thinking of getting one but am concerned it won’t feel comfortable for me. I am a very experienced shaver yet I hate blade feel and always get BBS zero irritation shaves with my mild razors - I’m afraid this will feel like the Executive Shaving Outlaw Mild which I want to love but it just has too much blade feel. Is this above these in blade feel l? I am guessing yes..

Hey Kevy, in a recent live video you done I asked you for a razor recommendation and you suggested the Tatara Nodachi. I purchased the razor and I think it’s fantastic but I did get the open comb version which I find just a tad to aggressive or harsh so not a daily driver for me. If I purchase the closed come top cap and baseplate does it make much difference
