Warzone: The lifeblood of Call of Duty as of lately, whether we like that or not, has been the driving force behind brand and universal cohesion since March of 2020. Warzone’s mix of the battle royale genre with the Call of Duty IP propelled it to super stardom fast and early on, breaking records like most downloads in 24 hours for a BR experience, having crossed 100 million players in a single year and paved the way for the future of Call of Duty moving forward. But while we know Warzone, while we’ve seen the accomplishments and milestones that it’s hit in the last three years. It wasn’t the first and for many, not even the best Battle Royale offering in the Call of Duty franchise. Rewind all the way to nearly 2 years before the launch of Warzone to May 17th, 2018, the reveal of Black Ops 4’s Blackout, the introduction and start of something that would unknowingly change Call of Duty forever and the start of our conversation that Blackout deserved better… Drop your thoughts as we go along, did you enjoy Blackout in its prime? I was actually obsessed with Blackout in 2018-19. I was never very good and only got about 12 solo wins, but I never stopped having fun. It's the only BR I've ever cared about. I tried Warzone, but it just wasn't the same.

I personally thought BO4 looked too cartoony, I like MW art style better but a bit more colour wouldn’t hurt ( which seems mw2 is going for). In my opinion Vanguard actually strikes a great balance of looking vivid but not to the point it looks cartoony. I know this comment will get a shit load of hate but it’s my opinion

@@laurah200 the open spaces in Blackout map vs the camp heavy 50 story buildings everywhere....plus to your point on loadouts and “META" changes, the great thing about Blackout was you could take months off and come back and hop right back in bc the loot was random and the weapons stayed balanced. It's so frustrating to grind for a whole week to get a new seasons guns leveled up just to have them nerfed into the ground next big patch

i desperately hope that they will attempt to make blackout 2. hearing you talk about nuketown, buried, raid etc. being in the map reminded me how fucking fun it was. the way BO4 PC died so fast is extremely disappointing, but i'm hopeful for the future brings a slow motion tear to my eye thinking about landing firing range

Blackout was definitely my favorite between warzone and blackout. To this day I still think about the map and map changes and how we use to put mines across the bridge and laugh chaotically when people would blow up on them

I mean you could get the zombies wonder weapons and they were actually pretty well balanced but we’re still really good like a wonder weapon should be, characters were hard af to earn too. I spent hours to unlock woods and masyn. But it felt better than spending $20 for a skin and weapons skin.

Dude, i used to watch your channel everyday during the lifespan of BO4, and once u clicked on this video i heard your intro music for the first time in years. The music reminded me instantly of the rollercoaster that BO4 was with the whole reserve controversy and how you could still get duplicates when there was thousands of items in the reserves. Just glad to see you’re still makin videos man.

I had the best times with friends in blackout. I remember once we were in this little garage messing around and a team was outside one of them thru a cluster nade inside with us and we all panicked and rushed for the door but all got stuck on each other stopping us from getting out and we all died there. But we were all dying of laughter. Good times :/

my biggest issue with Warzone is having weapons across three different games. If you didn't buy the last three years of COD you were pretty much at a disadvantage in warzone as far as familiarity with the weapon goes

I personally hope that Warzone 2 launches with some blackout style features, I kinda hate the fact that we only see a few guns in the game at a time due forced metas. I really believe we should go back to having no loadouts, that way we would loot attachments and perks, this would mean engagements could be significantly varied and more fun overall. Cause right now, I get no joy out of getting kills, because I know I only get them because that player didn't put a Blixen or Armaguerra in their loadout.

Man, if Activision came out today and said you can have Warzone 2 or Blackout 2, I’m choosing Blackout any day without a doubt. I still remember when Blackout had a few free access weekend, the amount the player base rose when that happened was great to see and If it had even 20% the support Warzone got over its lifespan, even more people would be in love with it like most of us that played and remember. Warzone now in August 2022, you can see the Blackout influence all over. From ground loot perks (the way it should be) etc… if only it had grapples 😭, and I wish WZ had ammo types aswell, the way gameplay would change depending on what you had on your weapon, like if you were using a .45 cal smg over a 9mm or a 7.62 vs a 5.56 AR, I just loved that aspect. Let’s all hope Treyarch gives us Blackout 2 in 2024.

Blackout was great and I never enjoyed WZ. I think the main thing was not having classes. There were meta weapons, but you had to luck out and find them, find all of your attachments. WZ just feels like a grind to get your class, same thing every game.

Blackout was the best and is the best battle royal I have played, and I’ve played them all. Amazing loot system, great open map with great sentimental locations allowing for great gunfights. No meta, just loot and enjoy the fantastic pacing as you loot guns that have your favorite skin equipped… I miss it so much

You know the worst part is I still play black ops 4 to this day favorite game mode is heist. @@dankmemes7796 The maps were stuffed with DLC weapon safes, so I wouldn't go beyond 'somewhat common' tbh. Vendetta was definitely a tool to have in the final circle, it had excessively OP damage and you could switch a red dot on there for close-quarters.

Blackout was and still is the best BR. everything about the game was dope. the only thing that im everyone agrees was a big problem was not being able to buy teammates back. I don't think a gulag was necessary in Blackout but being able to get your teammates back would have made it truly shine. No loadouts everyone pretty much on an even playing field. No BS sniper reflection that takes away from the deadliness of using a sniper. I mean it was just a great game. had it been free to play like Fortnite it would have dominated IMO.

Blackout needs to be a standalone, just like Warzone. Now you need to buy the full BO4 game to play Blackout. The community is still very active despite it being a game that's 4 years old. There's still streamers grinding every day. The gunfights and time to kill makes this game so much more balanced than Warzone.

Personally I was hooked on BO4, preordered the collectors edition and like everyone else was super hyped. Multiplayer for me was pretty good and zombies was also good for the most part (chaos maps especially minus voyage) as for blackout I enjoyed it a little but my friends never played so I never got to get the full experience. I think it had a lot of diversity and cool ideas in everything they added from spots from maps both zombies and multiplayer, the equipment, and wonder weapons. The game modes were also a nice change of pace. Blackout feels more like a battle royal (especially with the healing) and less like a big multiplayer match with one life and everyone using meta weapons

You know what's cool if blackout 2.0 (Cold Wars Ural Mountains map) it would of Changed How Endzones would work allow me to explain when Fireteam: Elimination dropped In the end zone there would be an exfil chopper that comes with a rope meaning you could kill the last team or Exfil out if Ural mountains would of happened i would assume that in the end circle the exfil chopper comes around like the 7 or 8th zone to exfil out of there and the armor plating in Cold wars fireteam mode was more smooth than WZ cause you can Mantle into buildings or high ground without it canceling your plating Blackout had Alot of potential but it sadly got locked behind a pay wall I hope one day they'll make a dedicated blackout game

Blackout is GOATED! If only they had added a way to revive you team or not lock the best guns under certain modes I would still be playing it today. In fact whenever I want to take a break from loadouts and I jump into Blackout and get a game right away, the lobbies seem to be populated quick but they could be bots but oh well..

I so enjoyed blackout and it was actually the first BR that I ever played and was instantly sold! I think it deserved better also.

I absolutely loved blackout. If they brought back the blackout map on these new warzone mechanics it would be a huge hit!!!

All I’m going to say is finally winning a blackout match felt better than any other BR. Maybe just cause I loved cod’s feel growing up

I definitely think i prefer the gun building system of blackout more than the load out drop. Made things feel more even and fair to all. People shouldn’t be at an automatic disadvantage because they don’t have a certain weapon at max level.
