I cannot stop watching this series. Wonderful combo...Morrissey and Tennant. And the other players are great, too. The acting, the costumes, the locations, and it is just pure fun!
It's 2 am and I was looking up David Morrisssey cause I love the Governor and now I am literally crying and trying my best to not burst out laughing..! This is gold
Brilliant writing. ✍️ 📝 Great one liners. Wonderful singing and dancing. 💃 🎤exceptional actors and acting. 🎬 this is a series I will not want to end. Thank you for sharing this gem. 👍🙏❤️🇨🇦
You really can hear/see the change in his approach to her once his affections become genuine. He’s very aggressive at the start, almost predatory towards her. But then, his face softens, his eyes go all puppy-like, and he’s scared of losing her.
I love the music, but a lot of the times later in the series the music just comes out of nowhere. I end up surprised because I’m just watching a normal scene, and then WHAM...song time
Haven't watched this yet, just starting it, but at 1:59 there is a flash of a man's face holding a sign. That actor was locked in a life/death struggle with a character portrayed by David Morissey in a BBC Charles Dickens piece... Our Mutual Friend. Nice to see the 2 actors together again.
Peggy Jurkanis actually Brads constant eating in the movie was due to the filming being so busy and hectic, they would often not be able to break for lunch.
flyingsnow00 Midlands accents? Most (but not all) of the actors are from the North of England, and are not speaking in what I recognise as a 'Midlands accent', being from the Midlands myself. Besides, the Midlands covers a large area that encompasses several different accents, so there isn't just one accent.
Joe Black Morrissey was born and reared in Liverpool , Tennant is from Scotland - the cop he plays is also Scotish ... as you said , Midlands is quite big, but none of them sounded like someone from Newcastle or Sunderland, where I lived for a few years ... I mean, I could still understand them
Blackpool (TV Mini Series 2004) - IMDb Soon after local entrepreneur Ripley Holden (Morrissey) opens his arcade in his beloved home town of Blackpool, a murder investigation makes tears at the fabric of his personal and professional lives.
Anyone knows the name of the song starting at 56:30? It's the credit song... I can't find it anywhere, it's very confusing. Maybe it was made just for the series.
I just noticed something when I'm watching watched Broadchurch I know it's the same casino that was in Blackwell was also in Broadchurch the same guy protesting what's the same guy that was also in what are church is it a coincidence no way
In season 3 of Broadchurch the lady that played the wife of the casino owner and the wine that was Peter Carlisle's what girlfriend who is also married to the casino owner is the same girl that was also and Recovery with David Tennant who else name was Allen who also worked with David Tennant and Broadchurch season 3 so all three different actors and one actress was in this movie now I also know that Olivia Colman also played on Doctor Who and season 11 the midnight I or should I say midnight as in eyeball that was kind of weird and a tad bit creepy so all three different people were in this one particular film plus the guy who was also in Broadchurch season 1 who was the man who was also in Broadchurch season 3 we're a woman was I believe her name is Trish or Trish he was raped the Hampton house which was the place for the party took place I still can't believe it was a teenage boy justice this is just weird wasn't right whether it's a teenage boy or a grown man but it still rape and it's still wrong weather for it to be 18 year old man enticing a teenage boy to do this is just Flatout creepy and wrong every way
OK, this is so NOT a good way to begin a TV show, all the nonsense singing to some bleeding old song. Just get on with the show, it's supposed to be a serious drama. SO embarrassing! What's with the constant need to break into song flaming 'Moulin Rouge' style every 10 minutes or so. Musical's are flaming extinct, thank God, stop trying to bring em back! And keep karaoke attempts for a pub I never have to experience!
it is meant to be a throwback to the famous UK tv writer Dennis Potter who would have his characters lip sing to popular songs. it is meant to bring levity and showcase the thoughts of the characters.
id recommend watching Dennis Potter but view the musical stuff last because although there considered his best there the most impenetrable. both pennies from heaven and the singing detective were remade as movies in America but find his TV movies instead. I agree with you though the singing although giving the show an interesting and unique identity they are the least enjoyable parts
