Moved over from Ireland three years ago as a teen, was very surprised to see what it was like in Scotland. Youth rugby is in a dire state here no offence. Scotland are way too reliant on the Edinburgh and Glasgow schools particularly watsons, stew Mel and merchi. While Ireland has like 40-50 schools in its 4 provinces plus even more clubs that produce talent. We have several rugby hotbeds in places such as Dublin, Cork, limerick, Belfast, Wicklow and Kildare. Tho we still rely on the top public and private schools we have numerous clubs that are almost as strong. Don’t think it’s helping that more and more schools can’t put out teams in Scotland while in Ireland the numbers are only growing.

@@rory4016 I know I live here, having experienced both at school level. But you have to realise that rugby is really Ireland’s 4th most popular sport behind hurling, Gaelic football and football. Also that doesn’t rule out the fact that rugby is way better run in Ireland than in Scotland. Take the super six for example, how could they have three teams in Edinburgh yet Edinburgh already have a pro team, yet none in Glasgow, dundee or Aberdeen. It’s just plain stupid.
