Thanks for the overview. I'm incredibly tempted by an army built mainly around pride is our armour and led by Haar, melee vets scouting up the board sounds fun.
Asia the black shields pale a bit in their comparison or appeal next to the shattered legions? Theyve always been a very niche army along with militia and solar used to be: tighter ruleset though really
@@BearfootMiniatures Yeah that's what I mean - the Blackshields rules seem more usable than the Shattered Legions. I picked up the book expecting to be excited to play Shattered Legions but instead the Blackshields have unexpectedly drawn me in :)
That first page of the rules has a slightly interesting bit in it about what points games to have blackshields in and higher point games you might struggle due to the lack of units available in the list which was a 1st edition thing but now there's no limits to what units blackshields can take
Ye prob the primachs and legion units which tend to be steals compared, legion warmer is a big miss aswell with it taking up the place of a trait to get access to any, good job there are some great generic units, but wouldn't like to see them spammed to make up for any black shield downsides
The Flesh is Weak has a few other effects on the unit because they become Automata. They become fearless, can no longer take reactions, and are susceptible to krak grenades, melta bombs, and grav weapons. Fearless Javelins with a 5+ fnp sounds quite strong, though you will need balance it out with other units that can make reactions.
+1 permanent strength for broken helix is still a modifier even if permanent. Word bearers have a similar rule where they gain permanent characteristic increases for their rite of war but have never played it as them running around with str 14 thunder hammers.
Hermes Veletaris sqd can replace one Veletaris unit in a Tercio. Solar pattern doctrine allows Veletaris to be taken as troops and line. But also take Arvus as dedicated transport. Mechanised Rule for sentinels doesn't state they can't be put in transports nor do they have bulky rule etc so could 6 Veletaris sentinels be put in a Arvus ? Lmao
The best ones!? the one denying VPs to your opponent for killing units and the one you gain VPs instead of sweeping imo and just play that game and not have to worry about the mission as much as your opponent IMO
haha ill get a video in mid shave (im growing hair/beard until just before I get married in a couple of months to provide a range of options, miyagi is in strong contention, that or Paul Tuttol Sr)
Shattered Legions might be too strong with them. Many of the legion unique units are already over tuned for their costs, letting a single army use many of them without the limitation of allied detachments would lead to many people just playing the army for power reasons.
Its an odd choice but I agree with both sides of it really, caution along the lines of the reasons marbles says, it opens up potential abuse and potentially expand into allowing special units or even units of their own later may be a good way to go
