Thanks! That really helps. I haven't done collars yet because I wasn't sure how to go about it. The length explanation is a big help as well.

Thanks for another great video. You explain things so clearly and logically - it makes an otherwise challenging task that much more accessible to those keen to learn! My craft is improved thanks to you.

Great explanation, Mr. Dennis! I blacksmith as a hobby, and I was struggling to make one single collar yesterday! Your video, and the time you spent making it, will be very helpful! Thanks a lot! Greetings from Brazil!

is it a good idea to leave your bick in the hardy hole wouldnt you take it out just incase you hit it with your hand or hammer by accident

Thanks for the section on stock length estimation! I'm making a door bolt and estimating the length of the bolt guides was making me scratch my head.

as a rule of thumb i always add the "inside" dimensions of de bended piece, you could also add the "outside" dimensions and subtract 2x the thickness, the total of this gives you about the good lenght to cut the piece, but indeed if you need a lot of them, first make some prototypes. Nice video, thank you

Have you ever forged a collar to connect three round bars together? A sort of triangular shaped collar? Thanks!
@df-intheshop330

I never have but the process would be very similar. Make up a sample to use as the mandrel to forge the collar around, estimate the length of the centreline and then forge out a few samples until you get it just right.
