Thanks for showing us that it can actually be done.

Ah shoot. You didn't need to mention me in this, Denis. I didn't even come up with that idea on my own. I just saw a guy on the Townsends channel use one that he'd made and I said "What a brilliant low cost idea"

That's cool to see how it can be made by hand.

Question I don't see a recommended steel. I'm going with 01 unless you sujuest different. Because I built several before getting it good enough to function only fairly well BIG THANKS so glad you are back.

Used a spade bit. Aka paddle bit. And annealed it prior. He made chisel from coil spring.

its always the measuring for small stuff that I have trouble with..I can make the thing if I can measure and mark it accurately...the combination of brain fog and wobbly fingers does not do good things for measuring lol

0.0625" x 25.4mm = 1.59mm

Pricking irons are usually in the range of about 3mm between points to about 4.5mm at the largest. While slightly larger or smaller may be available 1.59mm would be very unlikely.

@@andrewgray9663 Its DF specifying the 0.0625" (=1.59mm) not me.

@singlended Fair enough and I appreciate you taking the trouble to supply the metric information. Nonetheless I don't think the pricking irons in the video looked as small as one and a half mm to me. The spacing is also too ragged for this to be useful and the points as shown at the end are nowhere near sharp enough to be used.

.0625 in. = 1.58mm. How do you get your socks on in the morning?

Does it make you feel like a big man to make fun of an older man online?
