In this video I am sharing the process of hand forging of heavy duty beer bottle openers with a "Cube Twist", using side draft forge and stone coal.
A piece of metal I used is a square steel bar 16x16mm, 20cm long. Blacksmithing techniques: upsetting, drawing, bending and twisting.
The tools are: anvil, rounding hammer, a heavier hammer, blacksmith vise, bending fork, blacksmith tongs, file / rasp, wire brush, a bucket of water and a good bottle of beer =)
No need of a power hammer, although you can use one in some stages of forging.
Forging a Cube Twist requires some accurate cutting with an angle grinder. Be sure to use all the protection needed!
The best part of forging a bottle opener is to have a nice bottle of beer to try its functionality in the end! I can guarantee that any beer will taste much better when it is opened with your own freshly forged bottle opener! =)
Hope you will find out something new about blacksmithing and enjoy your visit to our small countryside workshop!
It is great to hear that our videos seem to have calming and relaxing effect! =) We really like the original sounds of our smithy, so we use a microphone RØDE for sound recording. All the sounds in our videos are recorded in our workshop and around it. Relaxing sounds and calming yet organized atmosphere are inevitable parts of what we hope our videos should feel like.
