This is hands down the best amp demonstration I have ever seen ! The informative layout, graphics and mixing different options together to present all the possibilities of this amp are just amazing. No redundant solo showing off, but pure informative essence. Hats off and others should take a cue from you ! Thank you !
It is imperative to have both foot switches and the architect software for this amp to truly shine as it was meant to... I played through a V1 40 without the software and now having the 150 with the software and foot switches opens up a whole new world.. Saved pre-sets are the bomb. One two F you, if that's what you name it..
I just ordered one. I can't wait to run my 12 string semi hollow electric through it! Have you tried anything like that through it? I bet it's a wall of sound. 😀
I have the 20. Wonderful little amp and more than enough for me in my bedroom. I have to say though the addition of the looper and foot switch is making me think that maybe my next upgrade should be the 100.
just got mine, it sounds great. I run 2 amps and my vox ac15 was too noisy. I have this and a Katana 100 2x12 running at the same time. it feels great using solid state again. the clean sounds great, the distortion actually sounds great through my hollow body gretsch. it has more oomph than it did through the vox, never sounded convincing. now with effects and distortion it sounds great. I DO NOT MISS TUBE SOUND TUBE AMPS. they are finicky, the noise floor, the constant noise, is an issue, can sound different day to day. if you are a pro you could probably afford something better quality, though my gf and I saw andrew bird and one of their amps was SUPER NOISY, during quiet moments it was so loud everyone in the crowd was sighing and huffing, lol. i wouldn't get a vox again for tubes, but at this point I would try another solid state like a roland jazz chorus instead of another tube amp
JJ skyflyer hello sir, glad you've found your sound and tone. May I ask, if I have to get one, which would be best, for a live small-medium gig and recording, this or the katana? Cheers.
Great demo man. Top playing too. The emulated out vs stereo microphone comparison was enlightening. Big difference. Just goes to show how amazing this amp sounds in real life. I love my ID:Core 150. Thanks for posting.
I have bought this wonderful Blackstar amp for two years ago and I still discover new sounds. It'a very good one. Just a question: On the backside of the machine can I come by send way and put my favorite Vox compressor and all the effects into return way or I need a program and come into input amp? Thanks again I appreciate your help. Seconder, does it get a manual explaining the Jimi Hendrix sounds and the describe manual using? Thanks again for your help and I'm very satisfied with the product.
Great Demo! .... clear & simple AND you’ve shown EVERY effect in a top down view that is easy to follow ..... thanks for taking the time to make it .... bought an iD Core 100 last year & you’ve explained it better than the greedy money grabbing store salesman! ..... #TobyForPresident
I got this amplifier for almost $200 cheaper than the list price because it's a little bit older it just showed up to my house today and dude it is absolutely awesome! I don't understand how people can ever talk garbage on Blackstar amplifiers cuz this thing sounds great! It might be a couple years old but so was a fender black face super Reverb and they cost thousands of dollars now if you get a vintage one. There is nothing wrong with this amplifier anybody who talk crap on BlackStar is just some kind of stuck up snob
This is honestly one of my top 3 favourite amps. If I was gigging in a cover band I would buy this in a heartbeat or maybe the 150 model if I needed very loud clean volume 👍
While I don't consider these tone monsters by any means, they are great gigging amps for a cover band that needs a decent selection of tones that just need to sound "good" since you can get a lot of tones with no outboard gear and keep it simple.
Nice work. I just bought this today. I also have the foot switch that you can buy for switching between effects but I’m not looking forward to working out how THAT works yet... looks complicated 😄
This is the only review of this amp that got some nice gain tones (Mastodon FTW). Have you tried it with the headphones? Looking to buy something cheap-ish (second hand) so I could play with the effects and to serve as my bedroom practice amp, but also to sometimes A/B it with my Tiny Terror. Having an effects loop and looper is a big plus that Katana 50 (similar price range) doesn't have.
Cheers. I'm not a fan of headphone outs on amps, but having said that the Blackstar stuff has some of the best line outs I've used (minus two notes equipped outputs) 👍
Has anyone tried an acoustic electric through this on the warm clean? Results? That's the only reason I waver between this and the Boss Katana with its acoustic setting
i have it and i play in drop c and D standard and it is very nice however it could do with some more gain but there’s still a lot built in it just depends on what genre you’re playing, i find its a lot better for thrash and doom than it is for sludge or black metal anything like that, the built in reverb is amazing though and makes chugs sound more organic
@@willking9410 ahhh I see. Thank you for the reply man it definitely cleared up a lot of things. I’m thinking of just getting a pickup booster anyways so that’d definitely help with the gain. Another thing, how loud does it get?
I have the same amp but on this the super crunch sounds much better than on mine both the crunch channels on mine just are really weak and not good but the od2 is great
Sensational Man! Can these features replace the need for pedals as I can't afford both a costly amp and individual pedals? Can I control the effects thru a foot switch or something?!
Thanks mate. The FX sound great Yeh it comes with a 2 button foot switch which can be set to control the amp or act as a looper. You can buy a larger footswitch with more options separately 👍
Is this worth buying now in 2023 considering the product is almost 8 years since release date. I'm getting a deal on a used 100 for the same price as a new ID Core v3 20W and I'm wondering if I should pull the trigger on the 100.
Very good Videos thanks! Can you say something about the headphone quality of this AMP? I have a POS katana MK2 in the sound quality of the headphone is not so good!
I think Blackstar has the best Headphone outs on the market (not including the two notes integrated stuff). I think some of the issues with all headphone outs are that into a speaker they tend to sound ok. But with headphones they can sound a bit shrill. The Blackstar is one of the best but still not perfect 👍
I would 100% recommend the ID Cores for live. They come with a foot switch and you can buy an expanded foot-switch for more options. I’d go for the ID Core 150 If you have the extra money as it has even louder cleans (you will never be too quiet with that one). 👍
hi there, thx vm for the vid.. however, i cant seem to find any vids on this blackstar id core which demos the mp3 input and how it sounds just to listen to music.. can you pls respond and tell me what you think about that? does it sound like a true hifi system or does it sound like most guitar amps with an aux in (a bit muffled and a lot of low ends) ?? thx vm
You can use the amp itself as an interface by plugging it in with USB. Or you can take the headphone out and plug it into a mixer / separate interface connected to your computer 👍
chapman is a bozo. the other guy's cool. he just solos and shows you how good he is. that is not how to demo products. and soloing 100 percent of the time, worst way to demo something, you need to play chords, you know? chords. that guy doesn't seem to have any feeling, just look at me I'm better than you
@@hollowmenrule I wanna slap that chapman. Very irritating guy. And I hate that fucking British accent. He wears silly costumes and gives foolish suggestions.
The Super Crunch channel with the ISF set to the right is great for modern pop rock. Check out my ID150 video for more sounds (same amp just more power) 👍
Ok, thanks Toby. Is it because de id core has a bigger sound? Just bought the Silverline special, but not really impressed with the body/base sound of it, even when the resonance is at max level. May be sell it and buy the ID Core.
The Blackstar is a jack of all trades with FX built in. The Orange is more of a classic analog amp with the Orange sound. It doesn't sound a million miles away from the tube Rocker amp. Depends on what you need. If you need loads of options ands versatility go Blackstar. If you want that straight up Orange sound, go Crush 👍
@@TobysGuitarGearDemos thanks alot dude! Blakstar has its stereo sound But blackstar is a lil bit cheaper than the boss ktn100, does it really matches the level and tone of katana?
It was on loan for the demo so currently don't have it. It was absolutely brilliant though, the stereo cleans blew me away while I had it. I much prefer the ID Core to the newer Silverline. If you are gigging and want cleans get the 150 for the extra clean volume 👍
Unsure, could be the mic placement / guitar / pickups. It's not the master volume. Could also be that the mic is directly in-front of the speaker and I've set the EQ based on that. If the amp is on the floor with these settings it may sound muffled unless angled + pointed at your ears 👍
I have one and i have to say, it's a toy. Loud enough to gig with but almost everything is medicore on it (for a digital amplifier. nowhere near to a tube or a good solit state). Except the effects, those are pretty crap and unusable.
Man every damn demo on this amp doesn't show you shit. A little bit of distortion and basis clean crap is all they can show you. Amp must suck big time I have not heard any heavy crunching the Katana blows this piece of crap away.
