Is there a method of doing this if I’m doing a straight line? It seems like this would only work on horizontals or diagonals

What if I’m doing a piece that’s going to go through the wash a lot? (Clothes, tablecloths...)

Put a couple of extra stitches in Sarit and it will hold well

How do you make sure the thread will stay secure, and not unravel? I'm worried if a thread gets caught just so, the whole thing could come undone. This looks lovely but is it as secure as knotting?

Make sure you stitch over enough of the thread on the back (note on the video where I put my knot and how much stitching covers the thread); it's a tried and tested method Alyson, I promise it won't come out! Knots are not any more secure, they too can come undone and on this type of work you would see them through the fabric...

Search FREE blackwork patterns on Google Ilse and you will find some (make sure you have permission to use them!). There are also some nice books on blackwork with lots of project designs in the back
