I found this video really helpful as I bought a used 230s for a very good price off a well known auction site and have really struggled to put together a good working program on myTX16S. My only minor niggle is the poor focus gave my failing eyesight a bit of a work out! Test flight tomorrow weather permitting.
Thanks a lot - great video! Have you tried setting up 330s? I assume the set up will be almost identical, but don’t know how to set up the rescue. Your advice will help very much. PB
No I have not tried a 330 S but it should all be the same. I would go ahead and copy the settings if you would like send me an email I can send you the file take blades off and try it.
Hi, Thanks for vid. Set up my blade as here in video. But when I bind my TX16s with Your SF6 and 7 enabled the Heli starts up with the tail motor going flat out. Even with Thr Hold on. When I disable SF6 and 7 it doesn't do it. Any ideas what I have done wrong? Gone over and over settings. Thanks
Thanks for posting this. It was a huge help. One note: the 230S panic switch is on channel 7. I'm not sure what the difference is (or if there is one?) between using the panic channel and just overriding channel 5 back to normal mode, but that's what the manual advises.
You’re welcome! There is no real difference, it’s just the way I have mine setup. I have one model file I use for all my helis and just charge things here and there as needed.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 One difference I can see is that you need the panic switch to get into the servo calibration mode. Also, for anyone trying this, panic mode is channel 7 at -100 not positive 100. The first time I did this, the heli was stuck in permanent panic. :)
@@JohnDoe50047i tried setting up channel 7 on the tx16s and it does nothing on mine. I tried setting it up -100 100. Any tips ??? I have the rtf smart version with the ar6250mhx
I put these exact settings on my tx16s and attempted to connect it to realflight simulator. the throttle will not spin. can you or anyone test this out for me and see if it works. I've never actually used these setting on a real helicopter. thus my test on a flight sim. I think the program is coppied right, the sim isnt accepting the mix of throttle. please lmk what you findout
Hey i just got into this hobby. Bought a blades 330s and a blade 230s with the tx16s back in January. Unfortunately I haven't been able to set them up. As my local hobby isn't too knowledgeable with radio. I dont have that wizard loader so I can't choose the one or two ailerons with y option. Any other way of doing this. Would you be able to send me your setup? I'd be happy to support you thru patreon or w.e you have available thanks!!
FANTASTIC. I have set my tx16s exactly the same as you, and all looks good on the monitor. my panic switch works but I have no positive pitch, I just get the same as the stick. My panic on my old spectrum would give me a small amount of positive but not like you get. Is this positive pitch adjustable? Great post thanks for the effort, you have helped me so much. Just got to go and fly it now. 😁😁
Thank you for watching and I’m glad it helped you! Let me go look through the setup again as there is definitely a way as mine had positive pitch when I flip the rescue, unfortunately I can’t test it right now as I, doing a full MicroHeli build on my 230 ( videos are up now)
The panic switch should actually override channel 7 to 100% rather than channel 5. Setting 5 to 100 puts the heli in auto level mode. I'm not sure what the difference is between panic mode and auto level, but the manual definitely says to put the panic switch on 7.
I have a radiomaster zorro and a 230s , when I bind it I can't get the collective pitch to work. Full throttle and it goes nowhere. Any idea ? Everything works but pitch stays neutral
Hi! Could pls explain on the 2 different menus: Special Functions & Logical Switches? How do they differ? Theae menus are not very user friendly☹️☹️. Thanx
Hi I have watched your videos and have enjoyed the setups. However, I would love to know how you have set up a Blade Fusion 180 to the TX 16 S. It would be great to get some help with this as I’m not even sure if I have set it up with safe or not. I am on Edge TX as well. Thanks
Hello, thank you! I appreciate you watching the videos! So I have not set a Fusion 180 up on the TX16S as I don’t fly with that radio anymore but I’m sure it would be the same file/setup as a 230. I made one template for all my helicopters on the TX16S.
I enjoy watching your videos. Just purchased a M2 V2 and Tx16s, I flew planes and 2 nitro helicopters almost 40 years ago. Would like to see how you have setup the tx16s. I'll send an email for the request.
Thank you for watching! You got a great helicopter set up there. You will be very happy with the radio and the M2. If I did not get your files sent to you I will check right now. Thanks again for watching
I have a blade 230 s and a broken dx6e. Your video is heaven sent. I sent you an email are you still emailing out model files? I've never used one before, am I assuming correctly I could copy a otx file to the desktop and use companion to pick it up and copy it into the transmitter? Nick
@@arnoldgines3381 so no, rescue is done inside the FBL unit so you would have to have a FBL with rescue option. Like the Brain/Ikon or the Spektrum 6250. My personal choice is Brain/Ikon. Then you could assign the switch to rescue. If you go on the channel I have a few different videos on how to set up Brain/Ikon FBLs and a video with setup on Radiomaster.
I really like the simplicity of your settings for OpenTx.. How can I get your .OTX file so that I can make sure everything is a good match..? I also have thre 230S V2 and several other micro heli's and this is a good baseline starting point.. advise.. Thx...
hi did you hav to change the gains for the bigger motor . cheers also saw your comparison vid with the m2 stil waiting for mine to turn up lol, as for the 230 was goin to try the engine upgrade mine is the original 230 s will that work ok i see you hav the v2 one .
Hello! No gains needed to be changed, just simple bolted in and run the wires to the outside and you’re good to go. Yes it will work with the V one as the only difference between V1 enV2 is a bigger main gear thickness wise and a spacer plate in the frame to help it from breaking.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 thanks for reply ,to get a faster roll rate or quicker swash do u adjust 3 cyclic d gain or 4 cyclic responce or both i hav my dual rates on full but heli is quiet slow , or is there anything else to adjust . thanks also i see u had a 10 tooth pin on one vid and maybe a 12 on another was one better . thanks
@@arcturus8218 you’re gonna want to adjust cyclic response to make your swashplate move faster you can only go up to 200 it does make it feel a lot quicker but in my opinion it is still too slow for my liking but that’s all you’re going to get out of that 636. I was just playing around with different pinons I found a 10 tooth to be the best because I wasn’t going after Morehead speed I was going after more power.
WestHobbiesRC, I just did some maintenance on my 230s V2 and I had to disconnect all the wires from the receiver. Everything is ready to go now. Please confirm that as pitch increases the swashplate goes down, as pitch decreases (stick goes down) the swashplate moves up.
Yes, so positive pitch should be swashplate going down and negative pitch should be swashplate going up. You can double check by the blades. Positive pitch will be the leading edge of the blade going up and trailing edge going down. And negative pitch will be the trailing edge of the blade going up in leading edge going down.
The easiest way to do forward programming is downloading the spektrum forward programming Lua script. But if you want to do it with the sticks it needs to be done with the bind/panic button, meaning mapping something to channel 7. Activate it while holding the sticks in certain positions making sure dual rates are all the way up to enter gain and servo adjustment modes.
You should have done it by yourself before you comment! Spectrum forward programming is not recognizing the Blade 230S V2 Rx. Mapping "something" to Ch7 will have no effect on the Blade 230S V2. (I tested this before writing this comment).
I personally like the micro beast on my 470. Yes it’s outdated but still works great. I have 4 other helis on the micro beast and they all are fantastic. I prefer Ikon FBL and if I have to buy a FBL I go with Ikon.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Is it possible for you to make a video about setting up a heli with iKON. Or at least all the transmitter things you have to do before doing the actual setup on iKON. I simply can't figure out to set up a heli on my TX16S .. and i have 5 of them. My planes are setup but i still fly my helis on DX9. Thanks.
@@HeliZero I’m working on a video now about setting up the TX16S with Ikon. I’m still working out a few things but as soon I figure it out I will post a video and can email you a copy of the file. As you using a DSMX satellite with the Ikon or Sbus or what kind of RX are you using with the Ikon?
@@westhobbiesrc8051 That is just perfect - I look forward to see your video and just take the time You need. My email is: wingnutz72@gmail.com if You want to send the file also. I got 2 iKONS and 2 Bavarian Demons. Thank you very much. ;o)
Further to my recent comment on here. I have copied your setup and everything seems to work correctly. However I have noticed whilst bench testing (minus blades!) the cyclic servos move in the correct direction but the swash plate doesn't re-centre when the stick returns to it's midpoint! and gyro seems to be working whatever switch position is selected. Have I missed something?
@@westhobbiesrc8051 It didn't matter which mode I was in.I since found I had cocked up the source settings for the Ch5 switch but I haven't had a chance to test it yet. Weather has been pretty dire!
There is a video out recently (last month)of a guy that wrote a script to get into forward programing. I am trying to set up an old Blade 180 CFX trio. I'm having he!! With gyro setup.
on your forward programming you say you use your dx9 to program and make ajustments. then bind back to tx16s. the only difference i can see and wonder about is your channel mapping. the dx 9 is TAER and your tx16s is AETR. Could it be possible that the receiver looking for the channel 1,Thr and 4, rudder left bottom and the channel 2 ,AiL and 3, ELe right bottom on your dx9. the tx16s your channels 1and 4 are ail and rudder and channel’s 2and 3 are Ele and THR. do not know if that makes a difference or not but it could. just a difference i see in the two radio. let me now your thoughts
No it does not make a difference on channel mapping, I’ve tried it multiple different ways. I do go back to the DX nine make any adjustments needed and then bind back to the TX 16 S. I have tried so many different ways and ideas of getting forward programming to work because if I do I would like to share it with everyone but unfortunately I’ve been very unsuccessful.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Hello, I came across this video about how to get into programming mode on the RX (the video is for airplane, but should work for Helicopters also). The video is a bit too complicated for me, but thought you might be familiar with the content: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IAZnCnZXBMU.html
Hi ,i have the blade 270 Cpx i try Your setting ,but the throttle is on the 270 cpx at Chanel 1,i dong know how to fix this, need to change channel orde
I’m thinking about getting a TX16S for the same reason you said you liked it. The ability to bind with multiple brands of receivers. Before I pull the trigger I want to make sure that I’ve been hearing that correctly and that it will indeed work that way. Anything special I should know? Thanks bro!!
Yes it binds to multiple brands all different ones the list is pretty incredible what you can find it to. Honestly it is a great radio especially for the price you can’t beat it! It is a little different to get used to a lot more to program than spektrum but I really like that for example you set up one airplane or one helicopter you can just copy that file over and over again change the name tweak a few things and you won’t have to go through the whole set up process again.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 I am curious about the reason you don't use the TX16S anymore. I just bought one for my Helis (including a Blade 230S V1) and you also got me thinking about the limitation of the calibration of the servos with the TX16S vs Spektrum radios.
@@NaturebyGus the reason I do not use the TX16S any more is because if issues I’ve had with it. So I’ve broken two gimbal springs within 50 flights total. Then I had some signal issues and crashed two helis because of radio loss and I just can’t trust it. I don’t want to promote or show something I personally can not trust. A lot of guys love them and that’s great! But for me if I don’t trust a radio with. $200 heli I’m sure not trusting it with a $3,000 plus heli. I’ve been flying spektrum radios since they came out and never had a issue on anything from a little heli to a 300mph plus plane and can trust it won’t crash or even worst hurt someone because I lost radio.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Good points. Did you have the TX16S MK2 or the original version with EdgeTX? Looks like they did some nice improvements with the MK2.
Hi guy. forgive if this is a copy, tried once but don't see it. Anyway, I sent you an email and hope you are still sending out the 230 file. I have a 230 and a broken dx6e. This is a great help to a lot of us. NIck
Programming mid-position of servos with Stick Input - how to enter it: UNPLUG both MOTORS! Important: Spectrum uses for 0% to 100% the range of 1100 to 1900 microseconds!!! (not 1000 to 2000). (Set in the TX16S model-config in the output: range -78.1% to 78.1%). To enter the programming mode with stick-input I use the following (values in microseconds): Ch1: 1100 (cyclic right) Ch2: 1100 (cyclic up) Ch3: 1100 (thr low) Ch4: 1900 (turn left) Ch5: 1500 (mode, override by panic later) Ch6: 1100 (collective pitch) Ch7: 1500 (Aux 1) (may be unnecessary) then panic for app. 3 sec: override Ch5 with 2140 (and my TX16s overrides also Ch7 with 1100, should be unnecessary) Very important: the TX16S transmitter should be set to extended output-range! The programming of the servo midposition as described in the manual (the manuals have bad translations: use the english one, not the german - and use the right version: V1 and V2 differs). After changing the midpos of the servos a new trimflight is necessary. Greetings, Hannes PS: mode switches in my one between 1280 - 1500 - 1710 microseconds (stabilized - intermediate - acro) ... cyclic roll right
Can you make a video describing this ? I have the V3 version and I can’t seem to get the flight modes working or panic and when trying to forward program with the TX16s I turn on stability and then the swashplate goes immediately to the right. I can’t get it to calibrate
