Blade And Soul is a highly anticipated MMORPG with a lot of hype currently set for a western release in 2016, I managed to get on the Russian servers to check it out, from what I've seen so far the game has some interesting features and an amazing combat system as well as a lot of things that need work, In this video I condense 7 hours of gameplay into 27 minutes and give you a mini review of my thoughts at the end, is Black And Soul (B&S) on PC worth playing? leave a comment below!

In this video I try out a free to play MMORPG set for release in the west in 2016 called Blade And Soul on PC which is based on a Japanese anime called Blade and soul, Blade And Soul is an MMO that has generated a lot of hype in the west due to It's very impressive action combat system, despite this being a great aspect of the game I found a lot of things that put me off playing the game further I played Blade And Soul on the Russian Servers for around 7 hours and condensed my thoughts and experiences into about 27 minutes, Could Blade And Soul be a good alternative to World of Warcraft or other MMORPGs? Playing in PlayBNS, Russian Server, isnt the Best for First Impressions since that Server is brutally outdated, like 2 years, so it would be smarter checking it either on a offical Server out or on the realease on the West. For saying short: PlayBNS is shit.

I think you should retry Blade and Soul on the official servers. NCSoft has fixed issues and added new classes, more content, and increased the level cap. I think if you give it a chance, you may enjoy it more.

Sophiya Khait please tell me why I should play I am in end with MMO I have try black desert and it is not rewarding after level 56 and I am not about to grind for 17 hrs and just do nothing but the same stuff. Guild wars 2 I am just fed up with the Optimization of the game and the way that it just freak out your computer and world of Warcraft that was 15 years of my life of playing

16:10 You were wearing your Bamboo Guard uniform. The other guy was wearing the Blackram uniform. They are enemies. The Bamboo Guards were the ones who saved you after you fell off Hongmoon. The Blackrams were the ones causing mischief with the beginner gunpowder quest. You also later joined the ranks of the Blackram at 16:33.

20:30 I understand that this video is outdated and it has been realized, but I'll just but it out there for anyone wondering. The server does have a holy trinity esc to it. There are healing classes and tanking. The thing is, everyone can fit every role but only one role. If I had to compare it to something it would be teras warrior. You dont literally switch from tank to attack stance, but instead you use abilities fitting your role more. For example, a blade master can go tank by speccing his abilities toward blocking. Or he can go damage by speccing damage stuff. It's tough to explain but roles ARE a necessity in any dungeon or pve group. If everyone just goes damage you'll fail.

Actually.. There is the concept of tanking. Tanks(KFMs/BMs) allow the DPS'ers to not worry too much about taking dmg while doing dmg. And Idk how you can call the party finding system bad. It's the most convenient out of any MMO and makes it easier for everyone to find groups.

Peon i think you already got the point based on the comments, but please, next time do some more research before uploading the video, i think you had the same problem with GW2 more or less. I like your videos, and i actually, contrary to most people, follow you because of this "First impression" videos, and pretty much trust you when deciding wether or not to give a game a shot as i think you are fairly honest and make some good points. Everything you said is true based in your experience, it's just that you played on a private server with a pretty much outdated build of the game sadly :(

although its an older video id like to add that they have added a new character and that with 'holy trinity'dynamic is a thing in Blade and soul. The destroyer is a Tank the Summoner is a healer the warlock is a high dps/support hybrid the sorcerer is a support damage mage, slowing healing etc depending on the path you choose similar to rift depending on what you choose will depend on how you interact in a team environment. The kung fu master is a tanky distraction that can hold and counter your opponent in fights and the new character the Soul fighter is a sorcerer combined with a kungfu master basically your all rounder the assassin is similar to league of legends their purpose is to isolate a high value target and take it out blade master is an all rounder good in damage and good in HP. I'm pretty sure i have not missed anything but id suggest considering you based your verdict on a beta to take another look at it and to clarify any misunderstanding i don't intend to sound like an ass I'm just adding some updated facts. PS: they fixed the unstable FPS Drops

Blade and Soul is not based on the Anime! It's based on the art of and created by a Korean artist named Hyung Tae Kim! His art is amazing and is the sole reason this game exists.

You should give Vindictus a try, its a pretty fun game, especially after the path (lvl 40) and isn't pay to win (or at least not until late I wouldn't know I'm only lvl 55 out of 90)

lacunarikain2 B&S is open world with instanced areas. you don't have to go somewhere, pick in which dungeon you want to go, and appear there. you can go in dungeon or an area just by walking there. it may not be open world like Black Desert, but it's way better than Vindictus or Skyforge that are pure instanced based

you know this is why I really enjoy this series/type of video. Your first impression videos started out as fun things to watch for me to watch. But this game was actually something that caught my eye a while ago and I was very interested in playing, to be honest I was really close to buying a founder pack for the closed beta at the end of the month. These videos have come a long way in a short time, I appreciate the fact you touch base/criticize everything from graphical quality to emotional attachment to a game. I've played GW2 since launch, so I'll probably stupidly biased when trying BnS (mostly because I have friends who plays it and the char-creation). I seriously hope it won't be one of those "wow this is so cool" games that gets boring even if you invest lots of time into it. Even though old, this review was great.

Great video as usual man but I have one thing to say because I've previously done research on the topic. The reason black desert seemed easy was because the Korean base all said how they wanted a more casual experience and when the west found out all types of forums and Redditers said they wanted more of a challenge like other MMOs. Well turns out they caught notice of some lead person on the team that is bringing it to the west and he said that it will be more challenging in the west. Even the main company that Develops it has said the same thing. If he west wants harder mobs then it will be more of a challenge. Hope this helps but as usual great video on BnS!

I enjoy the Kung Fu Master the most. It's the most difficult as far as combos, but once you get used to timing enemy attacks (depending upon what class you're up against), you block, counter, and then destroy them. It may not be the best PVP class, but I like playing PVE with it.

Well now i have an excuse to present to my friend about why i quit blade and soul after 2 hours. The fact that its like all dailies everyday seems no different from phone games like Kritika which u just fine tune gears and just do auto dailies. I am not into games like that, but the combat system was the only thing that felt fun

What is challanging in doing retarded quests, if they don't put any effort into them then why are u forced to level this way? Running to an area, killing some mobs, running to the next area, it is just like it was in wow, which was not fun either. I am quite impatient with mmos and I am not willing to spend weeks just to get to the level cap in a game where there is only content at the level cap.

it's not just the weapon. have a look at the Bo Pae next to the weapon. armor doesn't have stats(around 14:00), but Bo Pae pieces have(right from the weapon in inventory), and they also have set bonuses(3, 5 and 8 pieces) and can be upgraded separately by feeding them other Bo Pae pieces

It would be cool if you could do a first impressions video of Cabal 2, another new mmo which came out. I really enjoy how you go further into the game so we get a good impression of the game ourselves instead of like the first 20 min of the game where we only get to see the character level up to level 2 or 3. The game changed a LOT since 2015 october. I just started with a friend a few days ago, Textures are very good, nothing like in this video, completely lag free wherever I go, and except for the robe your wearing everything has stats can be upgraded, even has a transmog feature. Absolutely love this game! Has dungeons with random dungeon finder with 4-6-8 people.Gets me a party within 1 minute, unlike in this russian beta that not many played... So contentand story wise it eats Black Desert. And its free!

18:28 - I don't understand why people don't just learn to, I don't know, state that they're LFG in chat... it's how it used to be done before developers started to think, "How can we make it so that no one has to talk to another person in this multiplayer game when they want to group up?" The irony that this guy is talking about how MMOs are about the multiplayer aspect while complaining about a function that was put in games to make it unnecessary to have to talk to people was not lost on me.

You missed like 99% of the bad things. You shouldn't play a game unless its in English as your cast is normally English. Personally I would have bitched that your weapon gets stuck at level 5 due to shitty rng and if you do get it another character you can't use a mail box without paying 5 dollars. Lets also note that the crafting stuff is not explanatory at all, lack of open world, and the character designs for quests are crap. I could go on with this for days. Oh lets also not forget if you get to far in the story it pops up the press K to spend point at level 15 when your not 15 and it stays in your view until then... like you didn't play or test this game at all. You just ran through and gave an opinion. Actually test it BEFORE you review it.

You forgot one class, the Lyn have the Blade Dancer class. It looks similar to the Blade Master, but it's a completely different playstyle.

I have a level 28 Destroyer. That class is the only reason I gave this MMO a shot and fuck if it isn't getting boring fast! I literally do 2 things. Right Click/Stun and Grab. It's so boring! It's not as if I'm a tank class either. BM and KFM are tankier than a Destroyer which is crazy, but w/e. I think I've about had it with this game.

+Eman Gaming there's the problem right there I only got into BnS because of the Destroyer class. This was the only MMO where my character could wield a fucking battle axe

I just started playing this today, and I'm only level 8 still, but yeah so far, loving the combat system, the game seems to have been optimized a lot since this video, cuz I haven't experiecned any major framedrops, I think the lowest I've seen was 50, I'm generally in the 100+ range, obviously I can't talk about the dungeon finder yet since I'm not high enough level to have tried it out yet, but I'll deffo keep playing and see what happens :P oh and yeah, there's still a lot of bad textures, but it seems to be slightly better now than when you played it for this video

Same here. It doesn't just shove your in groups. It let's people send you applications. You then accept or decline them. I think the translations screwed up his enjoyment of the game.

Group finder is a joke because no one runs the lower level dungeons. Most of the players are doing dailies, which will get you a party in 30 seconds to a minute. There is an estimated wait time. I do agree with the rest of the cons ESPECIALLY the frame rates. It's so shit that my frames goes to 15 from 65 when all I do is be idle.

yes Russian is pretty much a pirated client.....play the Thailand version!! It's updated by NCsoft and has a REALLY nicely done english patch thats still being updated regularly PS: new discovery I just made tonight.....goto Settings--->Camera Controls--->Camera Interpolate---> slider to #2....makes it nauseating to look at but sure does give you more play w/ the view and your control and response is crazy better.

+killriot saxor this shit looks like it's something where u grind levels to cap and then the game is done, know what i am saying? like WoW, where u just hit cap and then it's raid once per week and pvp. I can't confirm on black desert since i only played like 2 hours on the japanese version

+Grymmjow Jaegerjaquez I would like to confirm this is true that here are ZERO raids in BDO? No bosses, either? I recall reading a similar experience from some other players of BDO that said that if you really want to enjoy the game then you have to innovate & make fun for yourself or engage in PvP. They also stated that the PvE in the game was just a grind to maxlvl/lack-luster. Can you confirm how much truth there is to any of this? Though, to be honest, I have been hearing much of the same thing from players that have been playing the Korean version of the game. Would be such a let down if this is true, as I am looking forward to both B&S and BDO.

+killriot saxor after i played both games, i choose B&S without 2nd thought. Black Desert goes very bad in Korea. it's ranked around 83rd in top 100 online games. on theother hand B&S does very good, and it's ranked stable at 5th place. also Black Desert is focused on pvp, and there's hardly any pve end game content. btw, pvp is broken by potion spam(5sec cd pots), zerg and pk festival, and too much gear+enchant dependent. lot of pve players will be disappointed. i bet how much money you want, that people that blindly overhype Black Desert will quit when they reach max lvl, and the only thing worth doing is pvp. in Russia beta, the pke'rs are destroying the gameplay experience of pve'rs, cause pvp is open world and not optional. Black Desert will fail if it continue like this, and be so much pvp focused. i bet lot of players will quit and come to B&S

+Made1nGreece B&S is just too instanced and not really immersive. Also the OWPvP in B&S is joke , equip outfit to PvP? Its over glorified duel system, thats what it is. PvE however is good - the instances were fun and were good challange (good gear breaks the challange tho) just that you need to farm them aaa lot because of the random drop system. On BDO -i play RU and never had my gameplay "broken" by PK . It is a real open world PvP game, no carebearing allowed. It has lots of sandbox elements, entertaining minigames, seamless world , realistic arstyle (very immersive) and a lot player freedom (everything you do - mine or fish give you exp). If it had dungeons and raids then B&S would have no space to exist. Well it might still get some as game is still being heavily developed. B&S is pretty much done, story is finished and i didn't hear about anything exciting coming to it. Popularity in Korea? Wouldnt Lineage and Aion be higher then B&S there? How does those do in west? So Yea... But to seal it, first teaser for B&S i saw was in 2009, west release in 2016 is just insulting, ( in 2016 i expect 2016 graphics not 2010).

I'd love it if you could redo this one with the current western one. a few things that annoyed me are that the dungeon you tried to enter are actually really low leveled and give no good drops. you should try to do pvp in a higer level because you need the abillity points and more abillitys, and the game is not based on an anime it was released way before the anime came out. also the game is not p2w at ALL, and all classes are doing different things (Summoner has a lot of healing and can revive people,Blademasters can maintain agro well and are great tanks with amazing damage) a few tips: Use the Hongmoon weapon you use at the begining- you keep upgrading it with weapons that you get from wheels (like the jinghansi one from the begining). Read the guides on the soul shields you should use.

Hey i been watching alot of your videos the last few days when i found you from mrllama watchin diablo 2 speed runs but I did have the chance to play blade and soul an hit level cap I will say anything to do with group finder until you reach max level is EXTREMELY SLOW but this game have the best pvp combat system out of any mmorpg that ive ever played I really enjoyed the 1v1 part of the pvp and i love the fluidness of the combat system the only downside WHICH really isnt a downside is if you have never pvped before prepare to be stun locked to death because if your opponent is a skilled pvper in mmorpgs especially in this game its going to be a challange definitly give this game a chance and hit level cap you wont be dissapointed once you get there

The Russian version you played is actually a private server, not an official server, which is the reason why it's so badly optimized. It's supposed to play much more smoothly on official servers.

hey Lazypeon have you even maxed your weapon through upgrading it with other weapons of any class, and also the idea of blade and soul is mostly to never take damage or avoid most of it using your combos and skills to defeat enemies without dieing, also selling anything you get to vendor is not worth it since vendors give you 1 copper for any stuff u sell to them.

Would honestly compare Black Desert / BnS / Dragon Nest. These all have combat similarities. I dont know why people dont use Dragons nest as a base of comparison. It is kind of old but I think it redefined how action games and PvP should be played. Idk. These games really hype me up for the PvP
