There’s only ever going to be one blade……. *queue the Reynolds stare into the camera* Yeah that wasn’t a “he doesn’t know look”, that was a “That’s right Marvel, there can only be one blade” look 🤣
Yep. Expected this. They just took too long developing the movie and now after Snipes being in Deadpool and Wolverine, people only want Wesley Snipes as Blade.
"There is only one Blade. There is only ever gonna be one Blade." Just bring back Wesley Snipes Blade to Secret Wars. He does survive towards the end of Deadpool & Wolverine film and Ryan Reynolds has been wanting a solo Blade film for Wesley Snipes and Secret Wars would be a perfect way to bring him back. Yes he is 62 years old and he can't do all the stunts but can do most of it with the help of his stunt doubles, but at 62 he is in great shape.
i took the joke in Deadpool as confirmation that blade was cancelled. no other reason to do so and then Ryan pushing for a snipes blade movie, just adds to it
It's funny that Deadpool's look to the camera perhaps meant to mean "Somebody wanna tell him?" only for it to change to "Is he wrong?" in just a matter of months.
At the time when the D&W was written/filmed it was most likely a meta joke about how they are going to reboot Blade but now a year later that joke aged into there genuinely is only going to be one Blade
If i was Mahershala Ali I would quit this movie at this point. This is incredibly disappointing because Blade as a character has so much potential hopefully he will make some appearance in a film and then they can finally figure out how to make the movie
Mahershala is 50 years old now. I felt like he was already too old to be cast as the vampire 5 years ago. I feel bad for the actor but he is better moving on from this.
What I cannot understand, for the life of me... they have YEARS of stories in already print, and only a fraction of the public has ever read them. All they have to do is adapt ONE. Update it to include proper current MCU story canon, and FILM THE F-IN THING.
This is an indictment on Marvel over a major black character and the one that saved their company as well, but they are starting to have a dodgy track record when it comes to certain characters/actors.
Looking back at that 2019 Marvel SDCC presentation, just look at all the bad luck that happened. I highly doubt that when Kevin Feige was on that stage, he was thinking "Well, over the course of the next five years, we will have to deal with a devastating worldwide pandemic that will shut things down for the better part of a year, the studio system taking advantage of that to shorten theatrical windows to prop up the streaming services they are launching, Chadwick Boseman dying from colon cancer, Bob Chapek making me increase the quantity output of the MCU which would outpace any quality I could bring to our projects, and then the WGA and SAG-AFTRA talent union labor strikes which will further hamper our production schedules." It's not like anyone saw that perfect storm of events that would rock and sock the film industry back when Marvel did that presentation.
3:38 I work in a movie theater. When I was an usher watching people leaving Eternals about 10% of comments were about something other than the post credit scene, 15% were along the lines of “Who was that voice at the end?”, and the other 75% was “Yo, they got Nick Fury in this movie”.
They want Blade to fit into the MCU. And he can't. I'm sorry but a vampire that hunts other vampires just ain't going to fly in an Avengers' movie which is what they want to do. Just give him his own thing like Deadpool.
When i heard the story was about Blade's daughter, i knew it wasn't going to happen. Who thought that was a good idea? You sign on to a Blade movie to create a story about his daughter??
@@wkadalie boom! No one would have any issues with that script! Instead I remember reading something about Blades daughters blood being the key to Dracula's daughter's plan and I'm thinking "wtf". What hack pitched this and who thought they should move forward with it?
@ahmorgan I mean... In my honest opinion maybe blade might work best in his own pocket setting within the mcu. As far as I know, blades only focus is vampires, I don't know if he ever takes down henchmen/gang hideouts or ever hangouts with the avengers. I know he features in midnight sun with supernatural setting, but maybe he should start off in his own pocket setting like werewolf by night, until the mcu initializes a supernatural universe
@@diddy2612pretty sure it’s because Disney/ marvel want to push their agenda onto a franchise that doesn’t need it and the writer(s) and director(s) don’t want it that way and that’s why they keep leaving the project . Of course they aren’t going to say that and just say “ creative differences”
I think what's gonna happen with blade is the same thing that happened to shang-chi, marvel's plan was to do the shang-chi movie before the first Avengers movie and then it got pushed back, so I do think there will be a blade movie but not with Mahershala Ali.
With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars coming, I think Marvel’s priority right now is wrapping up this whole Multiverse Saga because of how messy it was. As a result, they’re focusing only on projects that are either essential to those Avengers films or projects starring important characters. Any project that doesn’t fulfill either of those criteria will either be cancelled or shelved until the Multiverse Saga ends. And that’s where I think something like Blade or Armor Wars both fit. As a fan, I rather have Marvel put aside non-produced projects for now and focus on what they already have decided to do. Once that’s done, then you can refocus on Blade. As Kris says, it’s better to not have a Blade film than having one which could disappoint.
I think the biggest and most obvious problem Marvel had with Blade was fitting it in the MCU. But even worse issue that they just wouldn’t make it an elseworld movie in this so called ‘Multiverse saga’! Even Ali said the voice over in Eternals was premature cause they didn’t know what the character was gonna be. Just embarrassing
Is it too late to dust off the The Raid-esque story pitch and/or script that Beau DeMayo did for a potential Blade movie and rework it into a non-MCU, Logan-esque send-off movie for Wesley Snipes? That way, Marvel can both cash in on the love Snipes’ role in Deadpool and Wolverine received from fans and have a stopgap in the marketplace while they figure out just what the hell they want to do with the Blade IP. I know Marvel probably doesn’t want to go anywhere near DeMayo at the moment, but a significant enough reworking of the story idea and/or script he presented *could* be enough to get past WGA regulations of having to acknowledge him with either a story by or screenplay credit. On a separate note, does Marvel try and find a new role for Mahershala Ali? He’s a great name and talent to have on the books, and it would be a shame to see them have to let him go (though I wouldn’t blame Ali if he no longer wants to work with them after this headache-inducing experience).
What I would give for a Snipes lead Blade TV show with a cameo from Ghost Rider or any of the Defenders characters. Instead, I could look forward to Ironheart or something else nobody asked for.
Make a new Blade movie with Snipes but cross it over with Ghost Rider with Nick Cage one more time for some insane fun so their characters can respectfully retire and inspire the next. Let Morbius cameo 🤷🏿♂️
MCU Blade project reminds me of the Inhumans film they announced way back in Phase 3. It seems Feige was forced to announce this project when he doesn't even have plans for it originally.
I’m starting to enjoy watching this become an embarrassment and struggle for marvel. Coz remember Chad Stahelski ( the John wick franchise ) to this day continues to sayin interviews and podcast etc that he want to make a ‘Blade’ movie for them. After the release of John wick 3 he approached feign to see if he can make something for them mainly being ‘Blade’ and they said no… marvel need to stop hiring inexperienced directors and writers to handle things like this coz the franchise is too big now for this silly shit
I don't think it's happening, but more importantly, I don't think it should. One, Ali needs to walk away. This has been an insult to him and his talent, for one, and two, he is too old. Blade is immortal, or at the least ages very, very slowly. They should be casting a younger man for the role. The second is like y'all said in the video: we want a good Blade film, not a shit one. They're shuffling through directors, writers, producers...too many fingers in the pie. They don't have a clear vision, they don't know what they want from the story, and that tells me they also don't know what fans want from the story.
One problem is I think they just have way too much on their plate. Forget about launching another new character, when is the next time we’re going to get a follow up with the Eternals or Moonknight or Werewolf by Night or Shang-Chi or She-Hulk or Vision or Kate Bishop or Echo or the Black Knight? They have so many characters on so many different paths at the moment, a lot of which end on cliff hangers, that I’m not even sure if Marvel knows what they’re doing with them right now.
Just do a wesley snipes blade sequel in style of logan . Or do a new blade with John David Washington in the style of raid or better yet do both . At this point marahalsa ali will be 80 before he's done . And marvel needs someone to be blade for 15 yrs so my comment would fix everything. Now Disney just has to do it but we all know there to stupid to do so
I don’t know if some of the early rumors about the script were true, but this one sliding so far makes me wonder. Also, Mahershala Ali is 50. Not saying he couldn’t still be the guy, but I think there’s something to be said about going a little younger at this point if they’re hoping to have the character around for multiple films, over 8-12 years or so.
I honestly think it has to do with how to implement vampires into the MCU. They still haven’t cracked how to include him and the vampire world too which he’s always fighting. This is just my opinion, maybe I’m wrong but I just hope we get a blade movie in the near future
If that's the case, they're overthinking it. Nobody thinks about the MCU all that deeply. Just think about all the types of heroes that have been blended together already. Like the first movie, just include a line about how hard they've worked to stay secret within society. Everyone will ignore the idea of MCU compatibility with vampires in order to get Blade interacting with the other heroes.
I'm guessing they were probably planning to introduce Blade and the concept of vampires through some Kang/Multiverse shenanigans as well, and now that they're pivoting away from that, they've basically had to go back to square one.
Guarantee Fantastic Four is taking its November release date since Blade is taken off the schedule completely. I still don’t think FF will make that July date. They’ll push it back and market it as a family film for the holidays.
At this point, Blade had more scripts than all of Phase 1 and 2 combined. I mean they passed so many scripts that if they release all of them we get a fully-fledged multiverse story only of Blade by itself
@@johansvensson833 no it was because of Blade . But I still think you’ll play an MCU character it just might not be this character or maybe as John said he’ll be in the MCU movie and then he’ll get his movie.
I would just make Blade a Brit like in the comics and get John Boyega at this point! The real problem is they had a perfect opportunity to introduce vampires into the MCU, with without them where does Blade even fit? Do a Tomb of Dracula series and fully introduce vampire lore, THEN bring in Blade!!!
Think they will announce your one you're only blade Out walks Wesley snipes Some time in the future Can't see anything else happening after deadpool cameo
Who will recast Mahershala Ali as Blade with someone else? The two Johns are considered playing Blade before Ali won the role, John Boyega and John David Washington.
I wonder what’s going on behind the scenes of this movie because this is like the only mcu projects that has this much production trouble. The only other one that comes close was the Daredevil Disney plus show. That being said I rather have them say indefinitely instead setting a date they know damn well they can’t make.
His age was already an issue for men when they FIRST announced it. Now we are FIVE YEARS ON and the movie hasn't even been made yet. I'm sorry but he will never be Blade in his own franchise. That time is gone.
They might cancel the movie. But i have faith in Kevin Feige that we will still see Ali as Blade in the MCU. Especially now with the russo brothers back.
I was really looking forward to seeing what Ali would do with this character. Why didn't they just let Wesley Snipes & his production company help bring this world to life? That would've been great!! Complete FAIL on Marvel's end.
Just for a little context, Weasley Snipes waa 36 for the first Blade film. This means he probably was 34/35 when production started. People need to understand that mahershala, while talented, wasn't the correct choice given he was already older. Production issues can happen, actors' schedules can fill up, and the fact that Marvel is at least going to want 3 solo films plus cross overs out of you means equaates to about 10 yearw without issues. But spending 5 years on the first movie and it isn't even out yet shows the writing on the wall. What if the same production issues occur for Blade 2? We essentially have Mahershala pushing 60 before he can even complete his trilogy.
For clarification the upcoming Blade game is not connected to the old Blade movies. It's own separate thing. Also it likely isn't Xbox only as Microsoft has shifted it's release strategy so it will likely release on PlayStation a few months later similar to what is happening with another Disney licensed game in Indiana Jones.
