This is an AWESOME little heli. I am a novice heli pilot and had tried to hover a blade cp a few times which was really tough to keep steady. The MSR on the other hand was really easy to get a handle on. I have had it maybe 3 weeks and I am already doing forward flight and figure 8's with little trouble. Great for beginners!!
Nightflyyer, can I just say that if youtube were ever to run a competition to find the most helpful, friendly and genuinely courteous person on their site, you would get my vote.
Great machine. Beginner with no RC Experience, but I am a licensed Helicopter pilot and instructor (Not Current for over 25 years) this is way tooooo cooool.
This is an AWESOME little heli. I am a novice heli pilot and had flown (or atleast tried to hover) a blade cp which was a real handful. The MSR on the other hand was really easy to get a handle on. I've had it maybe 3 weeks and im already doing forward flight figure 8's. Well worth the $160 i paid for it!!
Lol. Great video Dave ! .. I love my little MSR ! its great for flying in the house . And u can get a little crazzy with this heli I'm shocked how nice it flys .. My Mcpx is just a little to fast to fly and do hurricanes in the house .. so the MSR IS AWESOME FOR THAT AND SUPER FUN ! ..
I got my MSR 4 weeks ago. I have been cooking around the house with no problems. Outside is a different story. I hit the pavement so hard today that my canopy nose cracked like an egg. I had to use storage tape to get it back together. Amazingly, with 30+ crashes my chopper still hovers without any TBE. This is one tough little bird. She does look a bit beat down though.
Hi Dave, i'm English but I live in Germany and i'm a regular visitor to your site. We are still waiting for our MSR's in Germany and the wait is killing us. So any vids about the MSR get me all stoked up!! I realy appreciate you taking the time with these vids - I love your mix of Reviews, Teaching, Technical advice, Antics and Know how!! Keep it up. I'd love to see a video of you testing the Msr's capabilities flying under, through different obstacles etc... we'll see. Take care Dave!!
I bought a porche (Blade 400) first and then saw the video about getting a Volkswagon. So I bought the Bind N Fly MSR. LOVE IT!!!! It's winter so it's way funner to fly indoors right now. That little heli is TOUGH and it's FUN.
Hi Dave! I'm happy for you! I also own an mSR. You may want to neutralize the mixes programmed in the 5-in-1 using your DX6i mixing options. The elevator and/or the aileron servos move with rudder controls by default . This is currently my most flown heli since I got it last month. I fly it every night after getting home from work and right before getting to bed. That's something you cannot do with a nitro heli. LOL
YES, I was trying to make the same decision a few weeks ago. I just decided to go for it an spend the extra money because I was worried about getting bored with the mCX. I could not be happier!! It is SO stable. Also, I have yet to break any parts, and have had numerous 'light' crashes. I say go for it, and good luck!
I had Honey Bee King 2. I could not fly it for my life. I bought the E Flight Blade mSR today and I was able to fly it right out of the box. Its a great little helicopter and is tons if fun.
I went to Hobby Town (Tampa, FL) and they matched manufacturer's website price and I bought a pack of 2 extra batteries (Poweredge 160 mAh) and came out to $160. VERY pleased with the product. It takes damage like no other and flies very precisely.
Dave, I dont know why but I just love seeing you flying helis, and even better if its a heli I have. And I have to agree the MSR is the best little heli ! Keep cool !
if anyone is thinking about getting one of these I HIGHLY recommend it. I'm new to heli's and this thing has been a blast to learn how to fly. The best part is I have literally crashed it into solid objects over 100 times so far (mostly walls, guitars, tv's, full beer cans, etc) and every time I do it I think "I must have broke something" but it keeps flying like a champ time after time. Plus parts are cheap and full aluminum upgrades are available.
My brother has one. Amazing little helis. Not for the novice though. I start to get a jittery when he lets me have a go :) Great vid Dave, and a great gift from Bob :)
Brother, I'm subscribed, I've watched about all of your vids, I think you love flight as much as I do. People think I'm nuts! Like a new heli every couple weeks, I work so I can fly, I'm so addicted. I wish I could hang with you guys. Great people, awesome helis, guaranteed incredible conversation, just good clean fun. Keep the vids coming, bro. Thank you for your armed services. God bless.
great vid dave (and you too jeff!) seems to be a great little bird may have to add it to the hanger i just love my cb100 witch has a similer style head (45deg.) and its also super stable and a lot of fun but quite a bit heavier at 66.2g with 500mah batt. Thanks again, Eric
I got to fly a friend's, and I must say WOW !!! This would be a great single rotor indoor heli for the beginner. It hovers more stable than my Walkera 4#3b !! I might just have to talk to the wife around Christmas time !! :-)
This is one sweet heli. Dave, you should get it outside and give it a good run. It takes a hell of a beating too lol... I have slammed mine into the walls a few times and the side of my car as well and it just keeps going. Great video. 5/5
Dave always makes things look easy! Honestly, the price of this bird, and what you get with it, is an EXTREMELY good deal! I think I'll end up getting one for Christmas or my birthday. ;)
Dave, great video to show the true performance out of these little beauties. Big fan of all the vids! Any chance you can roller skate and fly at the same time....LOL Clear Skies and happy flying.
Great video Dave, use channel 5 on the DX7 to access the dual rates for awash plate movement. Select the longer horns on the swash and select the higher rates with CH5 and it moves!
I've had my msr for a few weeks, I should slow down a bit, but I gotta say its so durable, I have hit the wall (erm x4), the light (2x), several bushes (lost count) and a landrover (oh and the ground a few times, hehehe). Damage? a slight mark on one blade. Still flying like new, I'm obiously no KnightFlyer but this heli is in my humble opinion an almost perfect move up from a MCX, CX2/3 or any decent 4ch contra rotator. Its just great.
I wish my nano would take off like this I haven’t been able to even fly out cause of how unstable it is trying to take off it’s so bad that I can’t even get out to take off and hover long enough to calibrate it it’s frustrating to say the least
This was 14 years ago and I no longer have this one. Check to see if the canopy is blocking servo movement. That has been a problem in the past. Good luck.
Yeah, i'll agree with that at @ 3:08. Mine was completely submerged in water (long story) and i grabbed it, dabbed it with a towel, and took a blowdryer to it for about 3-4 minutes. It lit back up and flew!! I was totally amazed. Although I would not suggest to submerge your heli. It was not purposely done.... trust me lol.
I have it a week now almost and this thing is tons of fun and really strong. I crashed it many many time and the main shaft and tail are holding well in many crashes.
@Wiiviewsowner, I'd recommend a mCX for a beginner over the mSR. The mSR is much much much more responsive than the mCX due to the single rotor and the lack of counter-rotating blades acting as a gyroscopic stabilizer, and will make it harder for a beginner to learn on. But this is just my two cents.
just got the robbe nano arrow ,,is exactly the same heli and comes with a alu case and a radio mode 2 but can be altered to mode one flipping the antenna over ,,not such a nice loader as msr ,but i like the transport case ,,costs a little bit less as msr as well,,really fun indoor flyers the msr or nano arrow
I love it when people talk in all caps. It's like they're overcompensating for something they are lacking. Kind of like the guy driving the pickup truck with a 14" lift and 4" wide vertical exhaust coming out of the bed. Do you happen to own one of these?
i don't have the msr yet but i did get that celectra charger and have had it for like a month and i am still on my first set of batts! so much better than the single lipo chargers where you would have to replace the AA's every ten charges
The weakest part on the mSR is the blade grip where the silver screw holds it in place. The second weakest part is the tail motor cap. It can come off if it hits something hard in a crash. I got mine protected with electrical tape. Others use heat shrink. I tried it first but didn't like the look, so I went with electrical tape. :)
Hey Love your video's music and all!! So I was reading that this heli was discontinued and well I really like the way this one looks in the air on your video so I was wondering if you might be able to suggest something that is it's equal possible or even a little better in your opinion. Thanks for your time and Video's! keep'em coming!
thats pretty kewl! Also if you can, try the Walkera 4G6 micro 6 channel 3D helicopter with a shaft drive tail rotor! ive ordered from helipal once and recieved my package in 4 days including weekends :)
This heli is about as easy to fly as the Blade MCX. Difference being this one can get away from you quick, fast, and in a hurry if you don't know what you're doing. The MCX just kinda creeps around in forward flight and won't get away from you near as fast. Both are a heck of a lot of fun to fly.
That looks like an awesome bird. I will have to pick one up when my budget allows me to. LOL. I'm doing pretty good flying my plane. I took off, flew, and landed on my second flight. Knock on wood.
Very nice flying and good heli fun! I fly a hirobo quark, walkera 4-3q and most recently Cb 180q all in this class heli. Brushed motor in the cb180q has got me worried. How does the bird preform? Looks like a hotrod compared to the small fleet I mess around with.
@rcdrivers1 I think that they are showing the swash plate "mod". Its not really a mod as it is included with the chopper. The swashplate has 2 different sets of ball links. 2 that are short for slower flight, and 2 that are long for faster flight. All you have to do is diconnect the connecting arms and move them to the longer balls to have a faster chopper. The other mod they show is the Red body and tail, which are sold seperately.
@robbie2737 I apreciate the quick response. Wow, I didn't know it was discontinued. I saw a few places online that stock them. Will look into the mSR X.
Wow , very very nice helicopter. Looks extremly agile, nice video, thats pretty cool how it is really tough. Nice team flying. how fast will that this go if you don' t let it autorotate? Anyway nice video, good job.
wow! excellent FFF. I saw this yesterday at a local hobby store and have heard the buzz. Nice video demonstration. I may have to pick one up. Does it come with a TX?
Something is wrong if your flybar doesn't track, brotha! Inspect and wiggle everything with close attention....are you sure that the swashplate isn't separating? They are a blast!!!
To onion209: I just started and got the Blade MCX2... AWESOME coaxial copter... I will be moving up to the MSR as you can use the same radio that comes with the MCX2 and can buy just the MSR (BNF) which means bind and fly which means without the radio.. Get the MCX2:) worth every penny fir learning and flying around the house:)
Yes... the RTF or ready-to-fly version comes with it's own radio, but I think it is better (though more $) to get a Spektrum DX6i like I have and get the BNF or bind-n-fly version for about $30 less than the RTF version.
Got the SR a week ago. Tail kept surging to the right every few seconds right out of the box. Tail motor failed completely after 4 days. Probably the weak link in Blade helis. Other than that a pretty good helicopter.
I wonder why they discontinued the MSR and MSRX when they don't offer a replacement FP heli the same size for living room use. I guess Eflite don't want that market anymore.
Re- "@ernestryles" comment. If you're new to heli's then a coaxial is a great starter, it gets you used to flying nose in with out worrying too much about stability. If you get the direction you want to go in wrong; a coaxial will stop going that way nearly as soon as you let go of the sticks where as a single blade heli will keep going 'till it smacks in to your bedroom wall. I think a coaxial is a good starter for a newbie.
Thats what my friend and i would do about 3 years back. im into hobby rc now, but at first we would try to smack each other into the ground with PiccoZ's lol
hi Dave....Im still learning with my cx3...but Im crashing all the times....inside my house is quite small...and outside i cant fly because the wind...what do you thing if I get a mcx to improve my skills? I can get the bind and fly because I already have the radio....thanks for the great video
dayum those are AWESOME!!! i dont have a dxi6 radio though i have my blueray radio i wonder if they would bind to that radio oh i have another question is do the blueray 450s use digital servos or analog servos and are the pcm or ppm i know its programable useing the cable it came with and the T6 config prgrams any thoughts would be nice cause the tail servo is doing crazy things on me so im useing a hitech hb65 servo
