Haven't seen the movie yet, but if it all looks like the shots we've seen so far - yes, it looks amazing. But the original looked more amazing. And that shit is old as hell (relatively) which makes it even more impressive. Definitely agree that a more gritty/grainy/hazy/textured look to the film would've made it look and feel much better. I don't know that Denis' type of minimalism will stand up over time. Blade Runner (the original), we like it for nostalgia reasons, of course. And we group that type of look (and sound) into that time period. But at the same time, I think it's possible we like that look+sound more for reasons that have nothing to do with nostalgia...and obviously, not so many filmmakers are going to attempt something like that today. They should.
I loved the movie, only the soundtrack wasn't on the level of the original, vangelis is just the best, Hans could've never topped him. Everything else was awesome
OK so a) where did film club go for the past few months, b) why is it still so poorly lit and c) why are they sitting crotch-to-crotch now? Will someone please bring some sanity to the production of this show? It could be so good...
