Thanks, VERY helpful. What I was curious about was if having a combo muzzle break with blast shield would have less recoil for fast follow-up shots vs just going with a flash can. But you kind of answered that at the end there.
My range buddies sure appreciate my BFD. I tried it out and let one of my friends operate one of my rifles with and without a BFD on while I stood next to him and the difference is huge as far as how bad it hurts your ears, with it on it’s a lot easier on the ears. These devices work great for the range.
So now everyone needs a blast deflector to negate the effects of the brake that we all need to have. Need more toys to go with the toys that go with the toys. The influencers have done a smashing job at marketing. All this is why I keep my rifle as simple as possible (16" M4 furniture) I put my $ into ammo and range time and improving my individual skills instead of chasing add ons.
Some cans run best/last longest with a break vs a flash hider because of how the gasses are channeled. So you will see a lot of breaks on guns with cans. However the breaks have drawbacks when shooting them without the can. Sometimes that’s OK but sometimes it’s not. So the blast deflector. We aren’t talking cool boy trends, it more about optimizing your gear for your situation. Yes it’s easiest to just run an A2 muzzle device for $7 with no can and then you don’t need any fancy hardware.
Bottom line is that suppressors are the best way to reduce db but unfortunately, for many of us they’re cost prohibitive. Then there’s the ridiculous tax and wait times. Diverters are a compromise, sort of 😝
Yup! 💯% The wait time is coming down (Prices too depending on which one you want)...But its still way too long. Silencer shop occasionally has deals where they pay the tax stamp.
While they do reduce the effectiveness of the muzzle device, there are definitely use cases where they make sense. Like if using a short barreled rifle for home protection. It may be nice to leave one on it in case you need to use it indoors. It will help send the concussive force away from you. Or if shooting next to others, they will really appreciate it as well verses having their faces rocked with the blast from your muzzle comp. If you are outdoors shooting with no one right beside you, take it off and enjoy the benefits of your bare muzzle device.
Yeah I'm going to say if you go to arrange often where there's other people around you shooting you need one, anything just a common courtesy. It also deflect a lot of the noise away from you.
@@Odinforever2000 Doesn't have to be hearing safe, neither is a proper can with supersonic ammo, the point is that it helps a bit particularly when shooting with others.
@@PineyJustice There are suppressors that are hearing safe with supersonic ammo..There are no Blast forwarding devices that are.. Your ears are yours to do with as you please. I will jealously protect mine. Bottom line, If you really want something that makes the gun significantly quieter, go with a suppressor and not a blast can. Especially if you like to use brakes like me.. Your line/range neighbor will appreciate it.
We just put a break on my sons 10.5 AR and…wow…not something you want to be in the same zip code when the trigger is pulled. The blast forwarding device he got for it at least eliminates the concussion but doesn’t do much to the sound. FYI, we put the break on because the flash hider was wearing away the first baffle of his suppressor in a particular pattern. It’s hoped that the break will spread that pattern out a bit. Bottom line is keep the suppressor on the gun.
@@Odinforever2000I use mine on my 556 And it works ridiculously well. You can shoot it with no ears in, yes it will still be Loud, but it doesn't HURT like one without it for sure
Break Arms, has flash hiders, comps, and a blast shield that interchangeable with their muzzle devices and their very affordable, $22- 30 if you find a sale, I ordered it,haven't got it yet but hopefully it will work good on my 10.5 because it's so dang loud and annoying 🤷 well see
I ordered one off EBay for 45$ that comes with the muzzle brake and blast forwarding cap! Screw on over the brake. Looks solid. Will let you know how it feels
@@abesview5855 please do, had a shipping problem my Breeks will be in today, I ordered a strike industries comp for my AK too , my buddy got the SI venmon and blast shield , really wanna see how that rig works
I used one of their "flash hiders" on my first AR build and was getting fireballs in broad daylight from a 16 inch barrel. Switched to the venom flash hider/oppressor. Far more effective
Ended up here while doing research as I only just heard about BFDs. I have a 14.5" AR with a pin-weld SiCo ASR three-prong, so I was sad to find the Indian Creek one still required removal of the muzzle device despite its adapters. I could find only two BFDs that claimed to fit over mine: one is by SiCo themselves (of course!) and the other is from Kaw Valley and claims to fit "ASR-style" devices. I found the latter online for *a third* of the cost of the former, so I ponied up. Maybe it would fit on your flared-base thing at the end of this video? In hindsight I wish I'd gotten a 16" barrel to avoid all this pin-weld nonsense. Maybe I'll swap it out eventually. 🙃 I'll edit this comment once the thing's come in, I've checked its fitment, and then shot the thing. When I took an AR class and had a guy next to me in the lanes, he asked if my ears were ringing afterward. Mine weren't but I guess my stupid muzzle device was sending concussive waves his way. Sorry, guy.
If you're AK has problems cycling any kind of ammo there's something wrong with it typically AKs will feed just about anything I know my VZ58s which I prefer over AKs will feed anything I feed them.
I called one company and they said I had to already have a muzzle device of some kind mounted on my weapon. If I didnt, I should be easily able to find one for around $10. WTF??? I have looked for days and I have not found that $10 device anywhere. So, here is a suggestion. Why dont you ....any company that makes the blast forward device....offer a $10 device thus providing customer service and increasing your sales???? Just saying.
Most folks have a muzzle device they prefer to use (suppressor muzzle device or muzzle brake for me). Just like in the video, some use a proprietary muzzle device..some use whatever muzzle device you already have. If you are wanting someing that already is it'd own muzzle device..check out Midwest industries blast can. What caliber are you using?
@theoldshooter9011 if you don't need quick detach capabilities..This is its own muzzle device and is a blast can midwestindustriesinc.com/blast-can-1-2-28-thread-5-56-caliber-9mm/
I love going to an indoor range and using 2013-2014 lot Independence m193 from my 10.5 with a fortis muzzle brake without the blast shield in place LMFAO talk about teeth rattling
Griffin armorment A2 Qd blast shield. Should work on mil spec A2 birdcage. 185 u.s.$ though. Pick one up and let me know if it works lol I want one but haven't bought it yet✌️
The ones I have in my vid need a muzzle device to keep them in place.. There are blast cans that thread on without the need of a muzzle device.I just dont have them
That depends on why you have the muzzle brake on the gun. If you have it on there only to reduce wear and tear on the first baffle of your $1200 can then it doesn’t really defeat the purpose. If you run the gun without the can then the blast device makes a shorty AR a bit more palatable to shoot vs. just having a break. I only have breaks (to use as breaks) on my 18” guns, and even then when I’m around other people I put the can or use a blast device. The rest of my guns I use some type of flash hider. I would never use a break on a shorty unless it was for the purpose of running a suppressor, it’s just not the most practical setup.
