This guy probably makes more money on RU-vid than a lot of guys who have similar channels. Andrew isn’t flashy, doesn’t buy brand new shiny things to entice his viewers. He’s not a commercial trying to sell anything. No click bait title to get you to watch. Not a whole lot of talking. He’s a real guy truly bringing you on a journey. I think this is why his channel is so attractive to viewers. His cinematography is something to appreciated as well. I love this channel, please never change.
Well said. I believe it’s because many of us dream to live this lifestyle, be mechanically inclined and just love life. Instead we are trapped in mundane jobs so we live through his eyes, much like chicks and the Kardashians! 😆 Andrew, you’re our Kim!
Brings me back to my blasting days! When a shot goes off it appears it's all at once but everything is timed and the holes go off individually. The timing of the shot determines which direction the shot will move (here it was designed to pull away from the hillside) What happens is the first hole goes off and about 42 milii seconds later the one behind it goes off and pushes towards the first one. Thats how you direct the shot. The caps they used are non electric (Non el) Plastic tube lined on the inside with a very small amount of powder in it. When detonated it flashes through the tubing at about 7,000 feet per second. The cap on the surface has a 17ms or 25ms delay and the one down the hole probably 350ms delay. This allows the shot to be charged before the holes start detonating therefore preventing a misfire buy pulling the tubing on the surface. Down the hole you have a primer that the downhole cap goes into, the blasting cap sets the primer off, the primer sets the main charge off. Looks like they were using a blasting agent as their bulk explosive. In this shot the biggest rock after the shot was on top, this is because that was in the stemming area. Stemming is whats shoveled on top of the blasting agent, usually you just use the drill cuttings but sometimes crushed stone for stemming. I don't know how much stemming was used here maybe 6 or 7'. A way to prevent the big stuff on top is to leave some cover on it and drill through it which then keeps explosives in the hardest rock. You can't bring the explosives all the way to the top of the hole cause you would throw rock all over the county lol.
@Fish Bowl oh I don’t know, I think my comment provided some interesting information. I mean obviously not as much as your well thought out response but still.
@@OutdoorsWithTheMorgans It did provide interesting information, ignore the idiots and thanks for the explanation. I know nothing about the subject so interesting to get your perspective on it.
That blast was incredible. The amount of gravel that blew out the side, and almost flowed like water, was amazing and super cool to see. Thank for recording this process and sharing it with us, Andrew! So awesome.
62 years ago I had plenty of heavy equipment on my lot. I moved rock and sand mostly. Spend good money and buy good machinery. Tonka. Always got the job done.
i freaking love this guy, have been watching now for almost 2 years. No click bait, never a too short video, always gets his point across perfectly, always in a great mood and never angry, Great with animals and best of all, You can trust in him. He will prove himself, each and every time. My faverite one, was when he picked his truck up, by 2 welded plates, to show just how strong welding was. I am thankfull to be able to watch your show, Andrew. Thank you.
@@Doorknobz Diesel Creek is about the nearest, and Andrew's friend, Jesse Muller. WranglerStar is entertaining. Maybe Dirt Perfect and letsdig18 too. Depends which aspects you like.
So many people will not work a job where they get dirty & requires a lot of manual labor today. My hands have been dirty, cut & bruised for most of my 74 yrs in the construction industry. Watching the projects you take on with all the unseen challenges & intense labor is so refreshing. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Best wishes & stay safe. RR, NY
Andrew never amazes me at how he can just do everything, the yard looks so much more spacious now, I can’t wait to see the building being extended and closed in
Andrew, if you extend your building I recommend a second floor with a large roll up door on the front. Your can't keep a lot of stuff out of the weather- snowmobiles, boats, older ATVs, extra tires, you name it. Never enough I door storage.
One of your best videos yet Andrew. All kinds of equipment, a lot of coordination. A lot of material moved. Tons of slate saved for future endeavors, couple repairs, this one has it all. And some blasting! Doesn't get much better.
I've always wanted to see this being done. Driving around places like St Louis or Nashville. Plenty of other areas too. The interstate highways were dug out if solid rock. You can see the drill holes in the sides of the rock cliffs. Always amazed me the time and effort that must have went into that.
We used to drag race in St.Louis on the newly opened 270 and Lingberg. Nobody used it in the beginning. I knew a truck driver who used to ride his bike on dirt 55 in Festus .
The shots of the blast going off and rock flying all over the place was just about one of the most epic things I think I’ve watched on RU-vid to date. What a project!
When Andrew uploads, everything else has to wait, I’m watching this. Gotta love these videos over an hour long. The smile on your face when seeing after the blast just shows how happy you are for this
Andrew, for a guy with depression and anxiety issues, your videos are a relief for the soul. You have lowered my stress in moments where I feel lost and lonely. Thank you so much, please, keep it up!!
I've been there, man. Easy to give advice, but difficult to follow it. But if I gave you one piece of advice, it would be to not think of it as a mountain of problems. It's just a pile of rocks. Move one rock at a time. Do something every day, even if it's sending one email, paying one bill or cooking some rice.
Watching John Macarthur videos has helped me alot. And going to a church where the pastor is from his seminary. Great to be around faith based members.
Well done Andrew. You now not only have a lot more space, but a huge amount of stock rocks to supply landscapers, etc. as well. A nice side line there. I look forward to you building the grotto too.👍😁🚜
For what amounts to a one man army with many tools, you have grown and done so much fantastic work. You have brought us on a journey through the years, and watching the growth brings a smile to my face. Thank you, and look forward to many more years of growth.
the videos in this series , there is all most always 2 machines moving. more like army of one plus friends , seems to me he had help when he needed it most.
I knew it was gonna be good but holy hell, i wasnt ready for that!! There was so much more lateral movement then i was expecting...It looked like the big hill puked out tons and tons of gravel, WOW!!
Did you see how heavy some of those rocks were? That enormous machine couldn't even pick some of them up off the ground. Yet we all got to see those same rocks jump into the air like there were weightless. Insane.
@@Joseph-C Makes me want to look up blasting videos. There looked like three times more material than it looked as a hill! Mind-blowing! And how the gravel came out in perfect little peices lol
@@dethmaul dont do it!! Do NOT start watching blasting videos!! I got hung up in youtubes blast video world and was stuck in there about 6 hours straight!! It was awesome and fun, something we cant have these days...LOL
The final drone shot is an amazing perspective. All that work and when you pull back it’s barely a scratch on the mountainside. Natures majesty is amazing! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
I remember when he overhauled his favorite plastic vacuum cleaner motor. It fought back and didnt seem to want to live but Andrew never gave up an was victorious!!!
Blasting brought back lots of memories with my brother who passed on a few days to his 100th birthday. He taught me to man up and handle an air drill. We drilled as a team for Uranium underground. I was barely 18. ❤ I never gave him any lip. I respected him as my brother. Never cussed. Never yelled. Always the up most respect for him. I loved him very much❤❤
You don't even have a hillside like him, Hahaha. But everyone does what he knows best, and you are surely doing a great job too. I watch you quite a while now, buddy.
What I like best is the fact that none of his equipment is "pretty!" He buys equipment that he knows he will beat to he//. HE gets the job done. If something breaks, HE fixes it. He doesn't dig in topsoil, clay or sand and if he hits a stone or bedrock, he doesn't whine about it. He takes care of it! This kid has a work ethic that is second to none!
@@louroberts5567 Lou, he treats Brand new gear just the same, snow mobiles, side by sides, jet skis all the same…………well maybe not using chain saw for mods on these but you get my drift.
Gargantuan amount of rock and earth you moved!! Truly amazing project and done so well!! I know you will put your new space to great use!! That new 988 loader is just amazing and really helped you make progress faster! The 977 was impressive at it's ability to break rock off the wall and move large rocks! The blasting was done to perfection, it appeared that they exactly hit their target and moved the rock where it was supposed to go - along with breaking it up into pieces you move much more easily!
Some of the big slabs still had the blast holes in them, mostly in the center. _Picnic Table with umbrella hole set to go!_ You could make a nice size rock pond/pool, sort like the concrete pond in Beverly Hills! (Flintstone style though) Was about to go to bed when this popped up, great show & some great slabs! (Many uses!) Have a Merry Christmas Andrew & Cody Cheers, *James*
BTW Cody could use some ear-plugs to prevent the blasting sound.. He He, at 1.05.10 i almost thought Andrew will go search for Cody frisbee with that Hitachi excavator.. he he.. ! Anyway, Happy Christmas - Be safe out-there people, much love from Europe ! ;0)
Andrew… your “get this project done” (big or small or maintenance or creative) inspires me often. This was a BIG job, you put the time and energy in… and moved the world. Well done and thank you!
Andrew, my 19 month old son is addicted to your shows. He watches them as much as he can, if he is grumpy and we put your Chanel on he’s completely happy. Thank you!
Unbelievable. „He watches as much as he can.“ And for you it would have been better not getting a child. If possible make a license for being a mam, and giving a child what it need in a physically and psychologically way. To set him in front of a RU-vid Video is the worse case for any brain of a 19 months old child. If you have two legs, go out for a walk. If you can read, take a book and read something for your child. But never never get a 19 months old child parked for a RU-vid video.
This guy is prob the best youtuber on here. The only one I have seen that hasn't changed at all. Normally people who have a channel that takes off its just a matter of time before their not the same anymore but not this guy.
Yes. Its his down to earth attitude we can all relate to, and his great camera and editing work that has made him grow to 1 million subscribers. Other youtubers, when the money start pouring in, they start smashing stuff that the average viewer cant even afford, a wastefulness that makes me cringe.
Agreed. I've seen a few channels switch from quality to quantity as the subscriber and view count grows. Can't blame them; it would seem youtube rewards it.
It’s hypnotic watching Andrew move earth with the many toys at his disposal Pick one, anyone machine to get the job done!! So many Choices - Awesome Good on you Andrew 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Regards from Sydney Australia
I really think Mr. Camarata should hire a full-time marketing Rep. this video alone could be licensed to every construction machine training school in the U.S. to show what "real life" and "practical" construction and earth moving looks like. The most fascinating thing I found about this video was the use of so many different machines. This is the kind of video that shows how small and large machines can work together to get a large project completed. I never tire of watching Andrew's videos and remain continually amazed at the extreme amount of resourcefulness, skill, and motivation he just THROWS at a given project. Andrew Camarata is a role model for his age group showing just what ONE PERSON can accomplish if they are motivated and willing to work hard.
Wow, what a huge area you've gained by taking away from the mountain side and filling out the valley side. I am impressed with how much work you put in to this property, and the nice result it gained. I am looking forward to seeing the storage building getting enlarged and closed in, so you can protect some of the smaller units from the worse of the elements. It will help preserve them and it will give you an opportunity to install power lines and lights to the far end of the building, which will help if you need to start machines that are out of power. Great job you and your friend did.
"Alright, the project at hand is turning my property into a rock quarry" I couldn't believe the amount of rock that came out of that blast. For a minute there, the area looked like it did when this project first started!
Andrew those fine stones after the explosion would they have worked on your drive to fill those pot holes? Hey man I am eighty four years old and I really enjoy you.staying safe and healthy.
Well, here’s the proof. Andrew can literally move mountains. So enjoyable. And another big project video where you don’t reveal the final plan until the end. I think that’s great as it kept me guessing the entire time. Just fascinating how they can consider the geology and types of rock, what the desired result is, and figure out the hole pattern, locations, and depth, put in the correct strength charge, and kablooie… maybe months of work, done. Very skilled job of attacking the pile. Had to take some thought, as you could get in a jam and easily end up moving material several times. Was wondering how you’d deal with larger rocks that hadn’t pulverized. Great job. And so glad you saved some of the stone. That bluestone is pretty remarkable stuff. Was concerned from the start about the stability of the rock face afterwards and whether the blast had undercut the bottom of the face. Was interested in how you’d clear the very base and what you’d find. Most of that was done after sundown it appears but the end result looks pretty stable. What a relief. Also threw me when you dug out the ramp. Thought maybe you were going to dead end the upper level, but then, bang, there was the ramp again. I simply can’t imagine the great feeling of doing a huge job like this at your place and utilizing all the units you’ve acquired from the skid steers and small excavators to the monster loader and even the roller. I was skeptical of how it would do on that big gravel, but with many passes it really turned out nice. Did you plan for drainage? I imagine it all slopes downhill and you can patch and adjust as needed. The amount of fill to build out on a steep slope like that had to be enormous. Probably lucky as you had so much to move. And with thousands of loads every foot you have to move it adds to the time and cost. So being able to run it a relatively short distance was also great. Wondering what the slope of the fill looks like now. Do you have a long gravel slope on the downhill side? Maybe we’ll get a peek. Curious what the total hours on equipment was for this job. Had to be impressive. And the dozer turning into a mosquito fogger was the only obvious breakdown. Blew a hose? Or just boiled over? Loved the shots of all the equipment involved lined up. The most gratifying part of any job is admiring your work. Very well done and extremely interesting and entertaining. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very nice observations and appreciation 👌 agree and good questions about drainage issues. I came here looking for help with blown hydraulics on an excavator, and 2 hours later I'm on my third video of AC's watching him move dirt, cut trees, weld like a mofo, and plow thru stuff like no other! Still, the dog 🐕 and his frisbee steals the show.
Well, we can all see where this going. As Andrew expands the parking area he will need to keep finding more and more equipment to park there. And as he buys more and more equipment he will use it to clear more and more land. It’s a vicious cycle but someone has to do it. His little slice of the Catskills is about to get a lot flatter :)
I wish I had Andrew with me everytime I go to the ranch cause something is always breaking when I get ready to do something. He's like freaking McGuyver
I'm curious...How many acres of the mountain/hillside is yours? My impression is that your land is from the lower pond(s) area, up the hillside, to above the upper entrance to your castle. How long did it take to clear the rubble & rocks after the blasting? Great job, looks good!
considering there were green leaves on the trees when the blasting occurred and the leaves were gone at the end, I'd say a good 3 months of clearing easy.
Very cool. I used to work for that equipment rental company back in the 80s and 90s, they were across the river in Albany. In fact I used to work on the predecessors, the Ingersol-Rand ECM350 air tracks and the big air compressors. All Detroit Diesels in the compressors, fully air powered air tracks. Lots of drilling in the cement quarries down your way in the Catskills. Those new machines are all hydraulic, on-board air. Turned wrenches in those quarries, know that rock well!
IT'S CHRISTMAS FOLKS!! To thank Andrew for all he has done for this, get him 100,000 likes for this video!! Fans can do it!! Barely 10% ever bother to click they like his content yet claim they are fans. Make this 100,000 likes as our thanks to him for Christmas!!
Agreed, people are in general lazy hitting the like button, at Andrews channel and many others that got many subs. I guess most viewers don't understand that their 'like click' will make a difference and help the creator expanding and keep on making more videos. I try hit the like button whenever I can
AC I've watched almost all of your videos for years now, but I must say these 2 (loader and blasting) have just been the greatest. I ran this one at 1/4 speed and saw all the fuse blast detail; so neat. Those guys sure knew what they were doing. I noticed the rock ledge you were concerned about in loader did not move at all. Kudos on the video work and aerial shots. This is the best contractor website by far. Glad you started this channel. This scene at the end with most of your equipment lined up is impressive. You've come a long way by your hard work and ethic.
I tried that after you mentioned it and it made it look much more dramatic! The fuse blasts looked like lightening running across the ground right before the actual blast. The third shot showed how much the ground moved during the blast. Note: For anyone who wants to see it just click on Settings in the lower right hand corner of the video and change Playback Speed to .25
We did something along the same lines this year - but on a much smaller scale. A hillside was preventing us from building a decent sized woodshop, so we removed the hillside. We used the dirt to widen on the other side just like Andrew, but in our case we had to build a massive concrete block retaining wall on the side where the hill was. It costed nearly 10k, but we got maybe 20 extra feet out of it, which made the building a decent size and a nice 10' wide flat area on the drop-off side. If space is tight, sometimes you just need to alter the space 😉
Crazy amount of red shale. That stuff packs well and makes excellent road fill. The blast sequence is awesome and the amount of gravel-sized debris is too!
Andrew, This is one of the most dramatic videos on RU-vid I have ever seen. I don't think anyone is going to top this. Nice job on positioning video cameras. Also the fact there was no covering on top of blast area made it more dramatic. Most of the time the blast area is covered and you cannot see the earth and rocks lifting!
Amazing video, what an achievement. Any chance of an aerial side by side comparison from before an after just to show fully how much material was removed? Well done mate! 👌🏻
Really got a bang out of this video! Reminds me of my childhood as we watched the road in the community been upgraded. I can still remember the huge blankets made of rubber tires covering the blast area. Wow, the excitement of us kids as we watched from a directed distance away. Thanks Andrew for bringing back that memory. Love your video's! I have been a subscriber since about 100k. Keep them coming!
Merry Christmas to all of us who have followed Andrew from the start. Can't wait to see what 2022 brings. Everyone seems to say when Andrew uploads, we stop what we're doing, it's true, down to earth amazing individual with incredible talent and drive.
And just when you've seen Andrew accomplish everything. He one ups it with TNT. Well we know what to expect next on DirtPerfect's channel. Best video yet AC, second to Levi's tribute!
Andrew the blasting was awesome! Your equipment fleet is incredible. A deeper enclosed lift & equipment storage building would make a lot of sense protecting your investments.
Andrew if you had a great rock sculptor you could turn your property to a mini Mt Rushmore with you, Levi, and Cody sculpted into the top layer of big rocks. Just a thought.
And the award for longest and most entertaining time lapse goes to! That was a great video! Thanks for doing what you do to entertain us and Happy Holidays!
Pretty amazing to see the transformation and I absolutely cannot wait for the follow on videos of you extending that building longer. I keep imagining a zipline from the top of your cliff to down by the pond. Im sure you have thought of this but that would be insane if even possible.
Started from nothing made himself Into something this guy let’s nothing stand in his way even a mountain. Always humble. Have kept me watching for years now. 👍👍👍👍👍
WOOOOOOOOOOW this was AWESOME, it would of taken you a year to dig that with your dozer... Thanks for the great video and Merry Christmas to you and your family Andrew...
That was a very smooth process from start to finish. The blast appears to have been everything that was wanted by everyone and beautifully captured by your camera work. You are getting quite a fleet of movers and shakers in your yard, as ever, watched over by a fun-loving, hyper-fit Labrador, Cody. A great video, again.
What a better way to start my day with this video and coffee. I must go build something now. Andrew inspires me to build, I think it's in a man's dna to build. Great line up of equipment. Thanks for sharing!
one of your best video's to date andrew, thanks the detonation was spectacular! on another note, i'd like to say, all that work with the 977 is a testament to CAT. I've worked for them for years and appreciate the action in this video, show's how good their machines really are 👍😉 Look forward to your shed extension project! Take care brother and stay safe out there.
Andrew, Just wanted to say a big thankyou for the effort you put in making this content for us! Amazing quality, very well edited, a breeze for the viewer to watch. You are a big inspiration for me, and i hope to one day become an operator half as good as you. Keep doing you mate! Cant wait to see what you have planned for 2022, you are literally moving MOUNTAINS! 😎
What a fantastic "Get it done" attitude. If it brakes I'll fix it. In my way I'll move it. Nothing stops this man. I really enjoy all these projects. However, Cody may be my favorite.
Andrew could you show some footage of the rock filling in the cliffside please? I think it's pretty cool how steep the drop is and would be cool to see the difference made there as well.
It was awesome watching that hillside explode. Andrew, you should go down to the backside of the area you want to fill in and remove all the trees and undergrowth that will eventually decompose and weaken the fill. Then bulldoze a ledge. Then take as many as you can of the large slabs down and stack them into a staggered wall to back up the rocks you're using as fill. Otherwise your setting up the possablity an eventual landslide.
@@arniecaffas5817. Exactly. Once water seeps down there and freezes / thaws, freezes / thaws in the winter several times it'll eventually landslide with no blocks in front stopping it from happening.
just a housewife, sittin' here with a cuppa watchin' the action.. this is oddly satisfying, lol.. and the dexterity and handling of these giant machines never ceases to amaze me... great job!
Andrew the work you have done to your property is more than amazing. The drone shot of the blast was definitely something to see. You have accomplished more in the last year that most people do in a lifetime. Your work ethic is impeccable and and downright incredible. Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see what the next project will entail !!!⚓️🇺🇸
Andrew amazing video. Your video editing and design are so good. You simply make moving rock entertaining in a unique way. Your skills are off the chart. To see it all develop over the years and to have watched just about every video is a gift. To see you build and buy your equipment over time and then get to watch you work and use each piece of equipment is almost like a personal investment for your fans like me. The blasting was so cool. I’ll watch it again and again, so wow, it’s probably going to be in the top ten best lol.
Andrew has it going on for sure. He’s a very hard working guy , and enjoying what he doing in his life. And just look at his view surrounding his place it’s beautiful.
Pretty cool blast shots, When you started hauling out the loosened material I was concerned you were not saving the 'patio' stones, but you did, and then some. Nice.
Without knowing the geological specificities, I would assume that it is a good idea to secure the stonewall. From that height even a small stone can be fatal. If you do that anyway a cool look would be to have steel beam come directly out of the natural walls, it can be any ceiling height and you use maximum space and in case anything does gets loose from above it lands on a needlessly overbuilt steel been construction ;--). Best wishes from the UK and a fantastic 2022, John
@@scuph The wall as a whole won't, but there's going to be plenty of small and large stuff falling off it. Enough to put a regrettable dent into that shiny new building.
Loved watching every minute of this Colossus project. Must be big future for the Camarata brand. Camarata construction/excavating company? Watching that blast was amazing, sure saved you a ton of work and wear on your equipment. Watched you start so small with little equipment, been great to see you grow so much. Equipment getting bigger and bigger, can't wait to see you add brand new equipment as your success grows. (If that is your plan)

It's just a matter of time before one of those drilling machines shows up at Andrew's Castle. With Andrew's minimalist approach to RU-vid production (no intro music or fancy graphics) that simplicity leads to greatness.
Nice project Andrew. That blast was cool to watch! With all the rock material that you netted from this blast, why not fill up both dump trucks and tail drop your driveways so that they don't become muddy messes in the future? If I recall, had a rock/soil separator to adjust the particle size of each layer involved? Wow, good fun for sure.
