Nobody laughs anymore. The far left says this movie is problematic and the far right says it’s subversive. I hate it. I remember when this movie was just “funny.”
@@tanjiroukamado7452 right on. Stay strong. Women respect an outspoken man and when you get older you’ll find all your friends are as conservative or Moreso than you are. Being leftist is a phase. Most people grow out of it at some point. For most people it’s when they get confident in themselves and stop caring what other people think of them. When I was younger I would hide my beliefs but I’m past that now. The best and most loyal friends I’ve ever had were always outspokenly right leaning/right wing, regardless of their race or religion. In-group loyalty is a right wing value.
Thats so cool, im picturing you guys laughing at this classic👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸😂Im white 43yrs old and i really dont know what someone could call me or say to me to truly offend me deeply. This is such a hilarious movie. Have a great day wherever you guys are.
What about the scene where Brooks is playing an Indian Chief, after he told the African American family to go on it's way, "They're more darker then us"
Back in the day before people had a permanent suppository stuck up their ass, we would all make fun of each other in the most brutal fashion and just laughed.
Some people think this movie is racist when it is actually one of the funniest and incredibly brilliant commentaries on racism. And guess what? They ended up unifying to save their town in the end. Maybe this should be required viewing? Assuming you’re of appropriate age!
And what people forget is that Richard Pryor co-wrote the screenplay for Blazing Saddles, and we all know that he routinely used the "N-Word" in his stand-up routines back in the '70s.
We are talking about the the Jew who made a movie about 2 Jews trying to play the system and cash out with a play about Hitler with a man so gay and flamboyant, he makes Elton John and Liberache look straight. Mel's style of humor is my favorite.
This movie is the perfect "friend test". You show it to a potential friend, if they laugh, you have a friend for life. If they don't, or claim to be offended, get rid of them FAST. Anyone too stupid to understand this absolute gem of a film is not someone you want in your life!
Used to be a good girl friend test back in my dating days - if she laughed, curled up with me and had a few drinks I was made. If she got offended it was 'call a cab' time.
I said the same thing today. Literally every scene was perfect. Charisma, physical comedy, sly delivery, slapstick, heroism, charm.... He nailed this. One of the greatest single performances I can think of.
@@papa_squat it is brilliant comedy, from slapstick stupidity to Well thought out jokes. Even re watching the movies you pick up things that you may have missed or things that make you go ‘now i get it’
the part the haters dont get. all the N jokes were Written by Richard Pryor.. a black comedian and the man who played the main character ( racist) "Lyle" was so offended by the jokes he was asked to do on screen, ]he apologized to the black cast members in advance..
So that's where I heard it before but forgot...🤔 A DJ on the radio in my city plays that little , Where's the white women at.. snippet during his mix shows . It's been driving me nuts .
I saw this film when it premiered in a New Jersey theater. The audience had a ratio of 60/40 in favor of blacks. The laughter throughout the movie was non-stop and LOUD. By far the hardest I've ever seen an audience laugh. After the movie people were still laughing hysterically. No brawls, no shootings, no threats, no demonstrations and not a single police vehicle. The 1970s were a different time when people were less uptight about race. Leave it to the neo-Liberals of the 21st century that couldn't leave well enough alone and had to reignite racism. What a sorry lot those people are.
Dear Mr. Brennaman: Thank you for reminding us of this hilarious scene from one of the top-100 comedies of all time! (Personally, in my top ten; inarguably in top 100.)
@@inkfishpete8695 I agree on Young Frankenstein and Producers. Not sure if I'd put History of the World before Spaceballs. I haven't seen High Anxiety yet.
"HORSES?!!! we cant afford to lose no horses! send a couple of nyggyrs..." "ah sir? he said Nyggyrs.. to tell a family secret, my grandmother was dutch..." i lose my shit at that bit of the movie and ive been watching it for 50 years.
My favorite part of this scene is the extras. Most movies can not escape overly animated people waving their arms around, this one encouraged it by giving them every chance in the opening scene.
I love this whole scene! I’ve seen this so many times, but it still makes me laugh! Slim Pickens is absolutely hilarious here with the iconic line! 😂🤣. ☮️🖖🏽
Cleavon Little had such a great voice. I love this rendition of I Get a Kick Out of You / Cole Porter. I need to check to see if there are any recordings of Little singing the whole thing. Edit: there's 37s available of this particular rendition, meh, will check later to see if there's a more complete version recorded for something else perhaps...
I knew that it was a real song, but I had always thought that "cocaine" line was made up for this movie. Turns out, it's really part of the original lyrics!
One of the finest and funniest satires on racism I've ever seen in my life insulting blacks and homosexuals and every other group of people it's a scream
What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here?!? With a movie filled with such great quotes, this one takes the cake for me lol idk it always cracks me up, still say it all the time
@@joffrey-k9g that why I said they both wrote most not all but many of the funniest parts, it was a team effort like all Mels projects from Sid Ceaser to Life Stinks he always had great writer to keep up with him
Saw it for the first time at our local drive-In Movie Theater. You could hear the laughs coming from cars all over the lot. They do a great job of making fun of everyone.
I'm gay and was not offended by what Thom Brennaman said. I had a laugh, then I came here and had some more laughs. Edit(Many Months Later): I forgot who Thom Brennanman said. I had to re-look it up. He's a baseball commentator that said "(gay f-word) capital of the world" during a braodcast.
Actually it's played frequently on tv. Some stations edit it as their personal attitudes see fit but some don't edit at all. As a black person who knows that "negro work songs" were a tool and part of our culture since before Jesus, I love the movie. Some don't get the jokes and the intent of them. Mel Brooks is hilarious and makes fun of the white characters while showing the black characters abilities to overcome, survive and even make fools of the racist white people of Redrock. The scene with the Indians and the black family in a covered wagon was real, conceptually. And as Lilly Marlane said "Its TWEW .. oh its twew". 🤣🤣🤣 . One of my favorite movies one of the most genius comedies ever made
@@TheTabaK23 thetsbak23...you are referring to my reply? Its cold reality and sadly true. The great Mell Brooks himself was recently an interview and they tried to talk to him about this movie and you could see he was terrified and suddenly went into a a full rehearsed dialog from his agent and attorney. Cold and sad that is what these groups have done to suppress and crush anything they are offended by because they lack the ability to understand or don't see it the same way.
Gee The 'Bee' I didn’t @ you so no I wasn’t talking to you snowflake. You should watch this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jzMFoNZeZm0.html
@@sqlevolicious 😊 well to be honest I looked at your library and it seems like you may be from a younger generation if I'm wrong forgive me. And the focus of my statement is more concentrated on how the older Generations knew how to deal with each on a mature level if you can understand that. We dealt with each other before the whole PC era if you will. Administering a disagree on how far you took things allowed you to understand that you shouldn't take it as serious as you should have. Hence the term take it as with grain of salt if that makes sense to you. But in simpler terms we weren't as sensitive and weren't as aggressive with each other....... when it came to Comedy that is, Yeah 😌
@@sqlevolicious as a matter of fact take how Dave Chappelle did his whole thing with the Clayton Bigsby skit. If you haven't seen that then check it out because in a new reality the way that your generation looks at now should be the same way that you should understand how we took the comedy that we took this type of Comedy back then it's the same thing. But the parlance of our times have changed the way we perceive on how to interact with each other and separate us divide us what have you. That's how my statement should be viewed.
It’s not whether they have balls to direct a movie like this, it just won’t be shown in theaters or won’t see the light of day because most people won’t take a risk of ruining their careers in this day and time. People nowadays are just snow flakes
_"People are too offended by everything now."_ People who say shit like this are the same people who cry about the inclusion of an LGBT character in a movie or video game. lol
This movie is a classic. One of my favorite movies of all time. Today’s society can’t handle movies like this because they have no sense of humor. It must be a miserable existence looking for things that offend you.
I always thought when Slim Pickens says, "Well we can't afford to lose no horses ya dummy..." it sounds like he almost started to laugh at the beginning of that sentence. :)
The genius of this movie (many examples for sure!) is Mel brooks explaining he was trying to get at the fact that racist things makes everyone look stupid. I find it hilarious that everyone gets attacked in this movie and as funny as it is, it’s so ridiculous that you really do realize how stupid it makes people look when they act that way. Pure comedic genius
This movie was groundbreaking and buried racism for good..the film showed how absurd the whole concept was..until 2006 when the monster was brought back to life...
This film is a classic. If you watch the entire film, you will see that Mel Brooks capped on every race at some time. Needless to say that this film could never be made today.
Actually, I saw this movie in 1976 in Durban, South Africa and that was supposedly a pretty "right wing" place at the time. And that "all white" cinema was roaring with laughter at the rediculous prejudice so aptly portrayed. My experience, its the lefties who take themselves too seriously.
There isn’t another movie quite like this out there. Even to this day, a few years after my father showed me it I still remember us laughing about it. Top notch comedy that sadly wouldn’t make it onto TV Ever again.
@@AdvKayaker And, it's also the best for so many sociological reasons that many don't even consider. It will age extremely well. Never seen a film push the envelope with so much offensive content, and yet offended so few. It's brilliant
That’s what makes that part of the line so funny for me. Slim is trying to name a hive of immortality, a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah, and he comes up with Kansas City.
Gonna win another one in two weeks. We'll beat the Packers to avenge our only SB loss. On February 8th the Chiefs will have as many Lombardi Trophies as the Broncos or Raiders. Mahomes will have as many rings as Elway,
