you're picking at straws. how the hell would ichigo know the difference between a zanpakuto and a shinigami? he was clearly confused because a random child is with this monster kenpachi and gleefully laughing and doing as she pleases.

I was thinking a lot about this too after rereading bleach recently, and what I kinda ended up interpreting it as is that the healing arts assist and accelerate the ability for a soul to replenish its spiritual pressure. It was also described as the most basic part of healing so as it might be the more efficient one becomes with healing the more catalyst like the recovery of spiritual pressure becomes, so it’s less adding one’s spiritual pressure to another’s and more using one’s spiritual pressure to flow more pressure into another. Idk it’s kinda hard to say and bc it’s very vague how healing is done we can only theorize

Idr the video, but someone explained it with her being so bloodthirsty, shed heal her opponents so she could kill them over and over. Basically, zaraki's and her fight... Which is why she's so good at healing.

The name "Retsu" actually means "violent" so between the reactions from the 11th division grunts and the meaning of her name, the writing was on the wall, it was just a matter of how deep the rabbit hole went on her true nature.

i think it's correct that since she was undefeated up until her death, that she was the kenpachi the entire time, and all the other title holders were inauthentic. and then when zaraki killed her, he actually then assumed the kenpachi title officially.

@@toodlepop that's pretty much canon. What I was never clear on is why everyone else went along with it, except out of deference to Unohana and, still, fear of Zaraki. Unless they just never knew she was still undefeated. A secret between the two of them.

Even in the Anime end extras, BYAKUYA KUCHIKI, a captain, is beyond confused on how she can just sneak into his home, one of the four great noble houses palaces, even when he is present, and take pictures of him to sell to the newspaper. Also steal snacks, I think.

@@user-sy6tg1ol9e Very fair point, but anime, and even filler, exclusive content are not only supervised by Kubo but also brought back. For example in the Zampakuto Rebellion filler Ohana's, Shunsui's zampakuto, design ended up canon. More to the point Renji only knowing half of Zabimaru's Bankai name, when Renji finally gains the respect and submission from Zabimaru, only one half is really into it, the other is only along for ride. Then Osho tells him the full name, and only after training a lot is he capable of actually speaking it, as revealed in the fight with Mask de Masculine.

another one here. yumichika (i think) regards ikkaku as the strongest MAN in the 11th division, after the captain obviously. i believe the word "man" was specific here, because of yachiru.

@@WearyWeaver byakuya was such a gangster. i believe he was not only the leader of one of the 4 great noble houses, he was the strongest leader in history of the greatest of the 4 great houses. i believe central 46 also was subservient to the great noble houses (which i think speaks a lot to his sense of duty, because he basically could have done whatever he wanted.) and he's still got little spies running around.

Truth. Revenge. Both he and Tousen were driven by it, one before and then after. To think the spiral for one with its influence started thanks to the murderous actions of a single nobleman and the immunity granted to him. Sajin officially declared KIA while living on a mountain is for the best at this point.

@@manuelacosta9463 Indeed. The theme of the dangers of losing yourself by seeking revenge, is one of the best in the series. I like that the story illustrates that forsaking everything for the sake of revenge, is both self-destructive and hurts those close to you.

@@jrgenvellesen7800 Yes, and now as we saw in the hell arc the parallel is the price of power, ending up in hell due to said power being too dense to be 'recycled' per say. The system based on balance has it's consequences, not helped that it was started by the greedy and ambitious.

Yachiru is a title given to Unohana because of the many styles she mastered.

I came here to point this out, Aizen one shot both Hitsugaya and Komamura in the SS arc but did not want any of that Unohana smoke.

Unohana and Yammamoto are the only combatants that made Aizen nope out of a fight. Not even Barragan, who has an absurd aging power, or the leader of the Kido Corps, could manage that.

This makes no sense by Ukitake’s part; He was with Ichigo and the others against what Central 46 wanted (Rukia’s death), even making a quick plan with Shunsui to save her even though they were risking their lifes since Yamamoto would’ve probably killed them if they went against 46 orders. He also knew Rukia very well, and talked with Ichigo a lot, so why nerf Ichigo without him knowing? Most of the battles in AA and HMA would’ve been a LOT easier if Ichigo was that strong since the start. I get that SS was thinking of the possibility of Ichigo betraying them, but he never showed any intention of doing it and never even had a reason to. Like, actual lives would’ve been lost if Ichigo didn’t give his all in these arcs, and Rukia’s life would’ve been lost if Ichigo didn’t stop Grimmjow, which is ironic considering her and Ukitake are friends. I don’t know if this was Yamamoto’s decision or Central 46’s, but that’s just dumb lol. For example, what if Ichigo was still being nerfed when Yhwach first raided SS? Atleast he was able to halt Yhwach before he destroyed SS for good in his very first attempt! Like, what would they do if Ichigo died instead of just “losing” his Bankai?

@@thetitanhater You have to look at it from the perspective of the Gotei 13, not Ichigo. What you are doing is looking at the surface level stuff because Ichigo is the main character. For thousands of years, they have seen many Ichigos come and go, some have betrayed, murdered, plotted and caused chaos. They didn't nerf him just to nerf him, afterall even captains and vice captains need permission to release their power seals in order to go Bankai, and in order to not damage the weak human souls in the living world by just existing, whenever they go there, they use Gigai if they would stay for more than a day due to their high levels of reiatsu. Mind you, Yammy simply catching his breath in the living world ended up killing hundreds. So, the nerf serves more than 1 purpose. 1. It allows Ichigo to live amongst humans with his high reiatsu. 2. It helps them keep track of him and his growth. For example, it is how they found him and Xcution in the Fullbring arc. 3. It is a communication device as well, it notifies him whenever hollows are in his vicinity. 4. It caps his power to around that of a captain's, this while a nerf is not necessary one, as normal captains also have seals that further nerf them so the fact that Ichigo can still compete with captain's in their released state despite the badge restriction was deemed appropriate. 5. In a world where unchecked power can lead to destruction, it makes sense to put such preventive measures in place. Toshiro, another such genius comparable to Ichigo ended up causing the deaths of his grandmother and his neighborhood because he awakened his bankai without any training whatsoever, and his unrestricted reiatsu ended up causing harm... So there is a precedent for restricting powers of new Shinigami who barely have any training despite their immense power and talent. 6. At the time when they gave Ichigo the badge, he wasn't trustworthy yet. Too many legitimate suspicions were in the air, he was connected to Urahara(an exile), Uryu(a Quincy), he went against their laws making him a danger, he could be on Aizen's side from the way things played out during that arc (afterall, if captains can betray the Gotei 13, how much more an outsider?), and many other such suspicions...like, a human having the power of captains showing up out of nowhere. Ukitake's word didn't hold much weight in that regard due to the fact that he had previously spoken for Ginjo and the guy betrayed them, so why would they think any less of Ichigo regardless of who vouches for him? Lives being lost is irrelevant, Ichigo was by all means expendable. Up until Ichigo proved himself by beating Aizen, he was just another captain class asset they could use in battle (from their perspective). It was also a test because they knew that eventually, Ginjo would contact Ichigo, and they wanted to see how he would react to being told that they were using him and nerfing him. If he decides to join Ginjo, then they would be justified in their precautionary measures up to that point, and if he decides to not join then an unbreakable trust would be formed and the nobles and Central 46 wouldn't have any objections about Ichigo. It's all just political at the root of it all.

Unohana's name isn't revealed as Yachiru until TYBW though, she was known by Retsu at the beginning

@@whit3dant3 In a normal manga I'd agree, but this is Kubo we're talking about. He's had some of the consistently best foreshadowing in the industry lol (Zangetsu, Ichigo being a quincy, Yhwach name being blotted out, Yachiru is a zanpakuto, Unohana is the goat etc)

Or this could be a foreshadowing of ukitake actually not being above the heavens and insted being a gaurdian of hell, in the hell arc
