For everyone who is confused about the game mechanics, this is how I understand it: It looks like you get 9 health bars. They are calling it "Konpaku" and "Reishi" to theme it for the game. Konpaku is the full HP bar and Reishi is the HP in the current HP bar. Normal combos deplete HP bars like any other fighter but big attacks from specials that land will take out 1-3 depending on the move. This emphasizes building your special gauges and setting up for finishers. This in turn makes the action look more like the anime battles.

An arena fighter with actual depth to its mechanics is certainly a welcome sight. Also added bonus of it being a Bleach game is the cherry on top.

I was confused at the 9 health bars, but then I see its a progression system for the battle. God, it will give you the time to fight it out like a real anime battle!

Okay, think I understand this. Reishi is like the health bar. Once depleted it breaks the konpaku. You then can attack them and the strength of the attack depletes more points. Once an attack is delt, their reishi bar refills and you repeat the process until they don't have any points left. Its somewhat similar to Final Fantasy Dissidia where you would take out their brave points and add their attack to your own.

THEY Better Disable the Block Button for Kenpachi somehow so I can feel like Kenny just going crazy and fighting at high risk constantly

The characters even have damage details on their face and clothes, awesome.

This is so exciting! I recently got a friend started on Bleach and we're still in the Soul Society arc. I was telling them how the Bleach game on the DS was actually pretty good and what got me into fighting games. This is perfect timing, maybe we'll try this (although Bandai Namco has shaken my trust many times, we'll see).

I've been wanting a new bleach game like this since soul resurrection, and i think it's interesting the names are so similar.

This has the potential to be the new Storm series! I really hope it's successful.

For anyone looking for a game with a similar battle system, Dragon Ball Z: The Legend on The PS1 is kinda like this where you have to fill up (or in Bleach's case, deplete the opponent's Reishi) a bar and then you attack the enemy's health (Konpaku in Bleach) directly with a flashy Super Attack cutscene (Kikon in Bleach), that game had a shared bar between both players while this game has separate bars which should make fights go much faster.

PLEEEAAASE have a good/expansive single player mode

I love how when you take Konpaku damage, it shows the number both players have, similar to the stocks in Smash. EVO is gonna be crazy

My initial take on the mechanics from watching a few times: 1. 9 "Health" Bars - Basic attacks whittle it down 2. To lose bars you have to use a special, super, or ultimate attack when the white bar is low enough (at 1:44 Byakuya takes away 3 bars and then 4 at 2:08) 3. When you lose a certain amount you gain access to more moves 4. The more bars you lose, the more moves you have access too 5. When your back is to the wall and you have 2 bars left, you can Awaken to your full strength (maybe character dependent considering Byakuya activated his Bankai with 6 bars)

This look amazing! Kinda feels like we are watching Ichigo vs Byakuya classic battle in a new Tybw animation style

YOOO ZANGETSU & Byakuya’s Shūkei: Hakuteiken looked clean🔥🔥🔥 definitely getting it because it looks like it heavily includes a good amount of cinema-cutscenes for the anime.

Getting mad Dissidia vibes from the gameplay and that is something truely spectacular...I pray it's not an over bloated roster arena fighter, but a truely ground FG experience.

I'm getting some major Dissidia vibes from the Reishi mechanic. Building Bravery to do more damage and end a fight quickly.

The thing I want the most from this game is a massive roster like sparking zero and brave souls and each visord should have their mask not just Shinji and Hitomori

I hope the gameplay looks promising, we've all been waiting for a good Bleach console game.

9 health bars is crazy.

Its really important that the normal attacks and combos feel substantial and do a significant amount of damage as well for it to feel good as opposed to both just waiting for and spamming supers. The combos and movement have to be slick, clean and pack a punch. I love Bleach, i cannot wait for this. I’m glad they’re taking risks and trying something new

Actually glad to see this isn't a Dynasty Warriors clone like the last Bleach console game. As an old-school gamer, I gotta say I'm oddly excited/happy to see _TamSoft_ making this. This is their return to fighting games - I don't think they've made one since Battle Arena Toshinden 4 or Abalaburn on the PS1 (not counting Versus modes in some Senran Kagura titles).... no wait, they did that Simple 2000 "All Star Fighters" game on PS2 that crossed over all those characters from their other budget PS2 titles like Oneechanbara, Yakuza Fury and Earth Defense Force. Point is, it's been awhile since they made a fighter, lol, and I'm excited to see what they can do with a big anime license and a big anime game budget after decades of Senran Kagura and Neptunia spinoffs. I hope they do a great job with this opportunity - it looks slick as heck. The presentation here is insanely cool.
