The original which I uploaded two days ago was taken down for copyright, so this is a reupload! Just making that clear in case anybody wonders why they're seeing this again. I hope you enjoy!
Any idea why Yamamoto wasn’t in the Royal Guard? He made the Gotei 13 which should have qualified him for membership and he was definitely powerful enough. Ichibei was stronger but I think Yama had it in the bag for the other 4
So, regarding the slaughter of those 28,000: When a person dies in soul society, they are reborn in the world of the living. This is true probably of all souls, except maybe those that Ichibei uses that one crazy move on (I forget the name, but it's like this black shrine thing he summons). Being killed in soul society just sends you back to earth. Dying on earth sends you back to soul society. The cycle is largely endless, though periods of it can be long (one can spend centuries or millennia in the soul society or huecho mundo). The ethics of murder in such a situation are more complicated than they are in a world where everyone has just one life. And when there is a need to keep a certain balance in the universe or the whole thing comes crashing down, it is better to send some souls back to the world of the living to be reborn. Regarding the soul burial: Hell in Bleach is almost certainly like the Buddhist Hell. Meaning it is not eternal. A soul goes there to be purged of its karma. Evil human souls go there to be purged because the darkness they have embraced makes them incapable of starting with a clean slate should they be reborn. Their soul has to be purged of that darkness and then they can have another chance. I reckon that most souls have probably been through hell at one point or another, either because they were evil in life, or because they became extremely powerful shinigami or hollows in one of their afterlifes. I actually think vasto lorde and adjuchas class hollows probably get reborn into soul society after being slain and become soul reapers. Most shinigami who die will simply be reborn in the human world like any other soul. Captains and Lieutenants have so much spiritual energy that it isn't possible for them to be reborn normally, so their spiritual energy has to be broken down. Leaving it in soul society would be dangerous because it would start to upset the balance, possibly even corrupt others (perhaps a dead captain can be reborn as a vasto lorde class hollow if left alone. Hard to say. Hollowification can happen to captain class shinigami, and perhaps being left after death is one natural path for that to happen.). The only way to break apart their spirits to allow for that rebirth is to send them to hell where their spirit will be purged until it is fit to be reborn. A captain class being has to be widdled down to the spirit energy of a single soul, whereas they are normally the equivalent of thousands or millions of souls in power. Hell is not really for punishment in Bleach. It's a furnace used to keep the balance of spiritual energy between all realms.
This is such a wonderful breackdown of the bleach world and proves how much detail kubo put in his series. Cant wait to see more of this man your doing us bleach fans proud.
I wish someone would explain the initial journey of a Soul Reaper. How does a prospect join the academy? How long does it take to graduate? How does a graduate enlist to a division? How come some graduates don't get to enlist?
Considering Renji and Rukia where both able to join with what looked to be next to no trouble, there’s probably only a test of over all power and I heard that much like Bankai training it takes somewhere between 5 to 10 years. To enlist in a division I once again heard that they just ask around and wait, so it’s basically job hunting.
Well, now I know there is a whole lot that wasn't mentioned in the anime haha. I always had a question regarding the shinigami. Can shinigami be born in Soul Society? Or do all souls come from humans who have recently died? With the concept of the noble families, it was mentioned that the nobles are "descendants" of the founders. Does that mean they are descendants born from noble shinigami parents? Also kids in the rukongai. We see a lot of them, like Rukia and Renji, and they seem to grow a lot faster than adult shinigami (expect for Hitsugaya, for some reason). Are all those kids deceased human children? Anyways, great video Radman, there's a lot more to Bleach's world than what meets the eye!
Souls can be born in SS just like in the real world. Yes, descendants of noble families. Yes, deceased children. Rukia died as a baby in the human world and was a baby in SS
Additional is that the pace of which souls grow up in the soul society are dependent on the potential the soul has, that's why we can see other people growing fast and others staying young despite the time jumps.
You know. The soul king and the noble houses give me big Norse vibes. How they ripped apart the primordial giant Imir to build the the world. His blood became the oceans hair the plants and what not. Only the soul kings limbs and organs became beings instead but still. Just something I found amusing
What's Shukai? (I've often wondered why Aizen pointed out Ichigo and his Zanpakuto combining with their bodies in their final battle right after Ichigo's Dangai Training?) There's seems to be alot of psychology Kubo also pulls from? Shikai - starting in the internal world. Bankai - subjugating in the outside world. Shukai? - Becoming the Mask? Fully Realized Self? Potentially starting the cycle again?
