Makes me appreciate the song so much more. He used descriptive words and feelings to describe sounds like, it was alive and in the streets. I can envision it. Love.

That part in 2:55 reminds me of a similar pattern that Jack Antonoff made with Lorde, including the secondary producers on the second pre-chorus of Lordes Melodrama's track Supercut. It's like rhythmic pauses that the Synth's make 👌

I wish more artist would talk so down to earth about this stuff. Guy talks like a normal dude you would see playing at a local bar. Studio looks like your normal studio. Crazy that his music feels so powerful. Good stuff

This gave me CHILLS! I fell in love with this song bc it has this hopeful, wistful indulgence to it...but at the same time almost something cynical about relationships, amd the eventuality of us falling into patterns. I still feel like this belongs in a john Hughes film. It has that 80's "hope" to it- like 'yeah, I'm a geek but MAYBE just maybe Jake Ryan and I are gonna kiss over my birthday cake after all". Fuck, I love this.

I don't know if you see these ever, Jack, but there is one ABSOLUTE BEST performance of "Don't Take the Money", on Seth Meyers' show 8-1-2017. Out of the park walk off home run! Your vocals, all instrumentation, timing, all PERFECTION! HOWEVER, I can['t seem to find that on any streaming services. They all give error indication. Oh how good it would be if you or someone could restore that video for us! We CAN'T lose a performance like that! Thanks for a great song!
