You just need to watch the consistency: it should always be a thick,creamy substance. 1 fun thing to check if you're doing it right is to put the bowl upside-down and see if the product doesn't fall and spill. Depends on how dark your hair is. The higher the volume the lighter your hair gets. Watch videos of people who dyed their hair that color because I believe the process is a little different.
