Just to clarify, since there's been some confusion in the comments... Although I said I had bleached hair before and dyed it brown, that was over 10 years ago! So, all of that grew out and my hair in this video was COMPLETELY virgin. Sorry for not explaining that properly! Also, yes..using that toner the first time was a waste and, even the second time, wasn't as helpful as another toner might've been.
Jess Lemos Tester In the shot with you wearing the shower cap i could see that your hair had dropped down into the bottom of the cap. The heat from your scalp makes the bleach work faster/better, that’s why the length of your hair bleach less...you didn’t “miss bits” or put less bleach on. The coconut was a waste of time. The bleach burns straight through it...If it didn’t your hair wouldn’t bleach. Something like Argan oil is good for your hair as a leave in conditioner, not coconut oil (that’s better for keeping moisture in skin not hair). Castor oil is good for your scalp & eyelashes/eyebrows. NOTHING (other than regular scalp oils) is worth applying BEFORE bleach.
tip for anyone planning on doing this at home! in the salon we rinse out sections as they process- meaning if we start at the back and finish in the front, then we rinse out the back whenever it’s as light as we want and let the front continue to cook until it matches :) this prevents the back from over-processing and breaking the hair, while allowing the front to get where it needs to be so you dont need to re-bleach. there’s lots of other great tips in the comments too, but as someone who used to do stuff to their home before going to school and has been “traumatized” by some salons, this video and the comments are a pretty good reference to do so yourself lol
Tip for next time: If you want a cooler pink; mix in a liiittle bit of blue or purple in your mix, so that it looks a little more lavender. This will counter-act the yellow bleach tone in your hair and give you a less peachy pink and more of a cool pink ^_^
So, I'm going to be bleaching and dying my hair in the near future and I've never done that before, so in preperation, I've been reading and trying to find videos and honestly finding virgin hair bleaching videos for dark hair is literally the hardest thing ever. So I'm thankful for this video!!
I bleached my hair when I was a teenager..I'm currently 31, so even though I dyed my hair brown over the bleach back then, all of that dye has been gone for a long time!
I found your video as a guide to do my own hair because you were the only one who did it step by step & actually took time to explain, list the products, & show that the box instructions arent always right for every hair type. Girl, first time I saw it I just skipped through. Shouldn't have done that. Here I am, first day of bleaching, & I was going crazy crying left & right from this orange!😥 Finally I decided to sit back & just watch the entire video with no skips & well... Turns out im on the right track! I bless your patient & calm soul! Let this be my lesson😂 You look amazing & rock every color! You are a goddess
I really like it. I do my daughter's hair and it’s nice to see someone take the time to do it right. Taking her from box black to a chestnut color was the hardest thing I have done. This was fun to watch!
You can color your hair damp when it comes to semi permanent but just not soaking wet! And next time don’t waste the toner just wait til you bleach it again because the lightest ash blonde is for level 9 (pale yellow) or it won’t really work. You could’ve done like the t14 which is better for orangey hair. And the second time you bleach just drop down to a 20v and you’ll be fine. Either way you did really good!!
Asian lady coming through to give her opinion. So I did my own dip & dye I had to bleach my hair 2x to obtain light brown/dark blonde colour. I chose dark pink dye(some local collaborated with Korean brand) & it came out a dark pink/orange shade similar to Hayley William’s orange hair. I was stunned but I was impressed too. Almost a month and now my hair is somewhat orangey brown & I can’t wait to slap red dye on it. So well, I like the unintended orange hair, it was unusual as Asians in my town were staying away from that bright orange. Okay end of rant, bye.
Next time you bleach your hair make sure to use foil because the reason why the bottom is darker because there is not as much warmth as the top of your head to process! Using the foil the bleaching will be more even because it will retain heat! 💕💕
I really wanted to but I felt like it was too hard to do by myself, so during the second time I just wrapped foil around my whole head when I was done and I think it helped a bit.
@@mine-d5119 And it's also because the botton is more porous and absorbs more pigment from the black/brown dye (idk if that makes sense, my english is bad sorry)
Honestly kinda shook by how good the brassy bleach job looks on you. You could've totally rocked that. I don't know that I've ever seen someone's hair look good like that pre-toner.
I've been wanting to dye my hair pink FOREVER and I'm in the process of going blond. Just did the first round of bleaching. So glad I found your video lol now I'm ready to go fully pink 😁
Thank you so much for the tip, I just did it and yeah I got the best ombré result I have ever had to make my hair lighter to apply pink! I actually will mix magenta blush with clear blush to get two shades of darker and brighter pink hair !
I am SOOOOOO glad I found this video. I have been wanting to do this for almost a whole year now. And I love that I found someone who has color darker than mine! who achieved this beautiful soft pink color. And it's a recent video. Thank you so much for sharing. I also noticed how beautiful your foundation is. I've been struggling to find a shade that's light enough for me. Can you suggest some foundations to try? Thank you for this video!!
Thank you! I'm glad you found this helpful :) My go-to foundations are the Loreal True Match foundation and Clinique Even Better foundation. Their shade range is pretty great!
@@JessTester thank you so much! I'm going to look into those. I also love your tattoos! How do you keep them so rich looking? I have a lot of friends with tattoos but they look faded. Any advice if I were to get one? Sorry for all the questions.
@@JessTester oh. Okay. Yeah I dont get in the sun much. I just didnt want to get a tattoo and it look faded. I guess I just need to find a good tattoo studio. Thanks so much for everything!
I’ve done the exact same thing where I diluted the pink waaay too much and it did nothing. So I was glad to see you redid it. It’s such a beautiful color! You did so so good girl!
Thank you!!!! I’m currently at the stage of bleached twice and still feeling very healthy! It’s a little lighter than yours at that stage so I’m super excited!! Thank you for the mixture photos 💕
I love the outcome!! Looks beautiful! Going to try this tonight I think - very nervous but hope it comes out ok! Your hair still looks quite healthy which is nice. Do you think the coconut oil helped with that? (Also did you use the coconut oil the second time you bleached it too?)
T18 will only tone hair that is a level 10 or higher!! That is why it didn’t work! If you would have used a T16 or something it would have definitely toned your hair!
Start at end to root but leach an inch of root for 15 mins to allow time to process and then do roots. You don’t need to wait a week, there no difference in hair quality in a week. Using the right developer is what can make the difference in damage in time taken to apply and develop. Defo start at back of head and do the perimeter last as the hair round the sides tends to be thinner
Semi-Permanent is not a dye. Its more of a "rinse". It doesn't last very long especially with frequent washes. Using without the conditioner will give you more color. It come out gorgeous 😍
You got such similar hair to mine and I'm copying this tutorial whilst in quarantine, since I got time to look like a fool if it goes wrong 😂. Yours turned out beautiful 😍😍
I absolutely loved this video, so helpful! Thank you! The only thing is, I went out and bought all products listed but don't know what to mix with what :( did you just follow package directions?
The histrory of your hair determines what comes out when you bleach so if you have colored your hair before all those layers of coloring are still in the hair at the bottom it never just goes away or washes out completely , so the root area and middle part will always lift lighter as there is fewer layers of coloring . Professionally we always start bleaching at the end or darkest point and until that is light enough you move up towards the roots in sections!
Not sure how I missed watching your first pink hair video. My colorist recommended I make fresh bleach when I get to the front sections, since it takes me longer to apply them him and the bleach stops processing after so long. Just a tip for anyone attempting to bleach roots or whole head. That may be why your last front section didn’t lift as well as the rest. Anyhow, you’ve learned way more since this first pink hair vid. I love the color it came out. I started with baby platinum pink is what I called it, my hair was already blonde to start, but after bumping up pigment and experimenting with colors, I got more of a peachy bubblegum pink, and love the peach tones.
I honestly don't know how much conditioner I used because I kept adding it little by little. Sorry! And no, I didn't have to buy more dye. I only use a tiny bit so I've already dyed my hair about 5 times and I still haven't run out.
Your video was honestly amazing, so sooo helpful! You said that you did this on virgin hair but do you think it would have the same results if you start with brown box-dyed hair?
Thank you!! I'm glad you found it helpful. I think it would be a bit different on dyed hair because the hair probably won't lift as easily. You'd probably have to dye that part first and then the virgin part. I'm not a professional though so you might want to look that up!
@@JessTester I did it anyways and you were right it was harder to lift the part that had been dyed before, doesn't look as good as in your video but still very fun!
I love it! 😍 theirs not to many videos with dark virgin hair "tutorials " of bleaching; so glad I found yours! Do you mix the 20 volume developer w/ the toner?
getting my hair bleached professionally tomorrow (because I don't trust myself to bleach it at home) in a sort of natural color into blonde ombre type thing and then once that's done I'm dying it pink! I bought the frose pink and arctic mist diluter from arctic fox and I am so excited to go pink. I've also been wanting this for ages and I'm finally doing it tomorrow! I want it pastel pink, similar to your color, so I am gonna try for that though my stylist isn't sure she can get my hair that light with the bleach she has just because covid is really messing up orders for that type of stuff and my hair is pretty dark. My hair is virgin hair, it's been several years since I dyed or bleached it and I'm gonna get the ends trimmed too (I trimmed them before but I want them a tiny bit shorter). Hoping it turns out nice!
Frose is actually already pastel so you shouldn’t dilute it. You also need platinum hair for that one, so I would actually recommend exchanging it for Virgin Pink so you can dilute it a bit with Arctic Mist but still have good coverage over whatever blonde you’re able to get. Hope that makes sense and good luck on your hair journey!
Question: How did you dilute the color? How many parts conditioner to color? I'm interested in doing the coloring at home myself (my hair is already dyed platinum blonde thanks to my awesome colorist) but want to go pastel pink for a while before doing more vibrant colors. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Unfortunately, I don't have measurements because I just kept adding conditioner until I was happy with the color. If you have platinum hair then the color you see in the bowl will be very similar to how it shows up on your hair so just mix in conditioner until you like what you see! I also recommend doing a test strand
The reason it's lighter closer to your head and really dark at the ends is because your hair higher up is newer and more supple, but your ends are older and more dead and dry, thus the bleach doesn't take as well.
You Look stunning! Im also planning to dye my hair pink but my hairstylist said its not idea for me to go platinium blond because i have fine hair. Can I ask you do you have thick or more fine hair? Because If I would have similar result I would be amazed 😍
My hair is super fine! I think you just need to be careful and not try to rush it. If you prioritize the health of your hair and take your time to get there, I think you can do it! Keep in mind that my hair is super oily though, so I think that definitely helped.
Hi! I’m planning on dying the underneath of my hair which is dirty blond. I’m wondering how long did this last on your hair, and do you have any tips on making it last longer?
I found your channel from your removing pink video and I wanted to say you’re so pretty! And the blonde turned out pretty good I think one more round and you would have had the perfect shade of blonde. Also if you ever plan on going this type of shade of pink again, Arctic Fox just came out with another shade called Frosé and without diluting it, it turns out this type of shade. Super pretty (:
Thank you!! You're right because I just did another round of bleach and was able to get to a platinum blonde! I was just too scared to do it all at once. And yes, I saw their new color! I kind of want to try it but I'll probably have to use an entire bottle for my hair, where as with diluting this one, it lasts me sooo long
Jess Lemos Tester yeah my hair is a little past my shoulders and I had to use a whole bottle. But my hair is also super thick. but you’re right. I’m sure if you used their other baby pink color and diluted it, it’d be the same and you’d get more uses.
You're such a pretty brunette I wouldn't change a thing about your natural color, but alas I get wanting to try different things as I've done it myself.
I use the Suave Smoothing Conditioner, along with a few other products once in a while to help with frizz too. I shared all the products I use in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hgqQJngZi9E.html It's a couple of years old but my hair routine is basically still the same!
The lighter hair really brings out your beautiful eyes. You actually would look great with a soft violet-copper, not brassy, ginger shade too. But the pink looks great too, like a shaded rose-gold. Nice job. Looks better with color variation than monochromatic pink. Just put some beachy waves in to accent the shimmer
You’re so cute he’s sweet also perfect couple and I totally love how it came out beautiful! Btw I totally feel we have the same problems from dark brown to blonde 👱♀️ it takes several times also , I moved from LA to the country side (vineyards) so I’m gonna follow your guide do it myself because I don’t know anyone out here :) wish me luck I’m going artic fox light purple
My hair has been platinum for 3 years now and I've been itching to go blush pink just a hit of color but don't want cotton candy, more of a pastel rose gold but just can't find the perfect color.
Ummm ok what did you use in order? And measurements for each?????? Like how can I do this if you don’t tell us what order everything goes by AND THEN MEASUREMENTS??? Like how much ?????????? How am I supposed to do this?? The way you wrote everything in the comments is that the correct order? And also how long do you leave each step on for???
This isn’t a tutorial or else it would say that in the title. I just vlogged myself trying this out. It’s obvious I don’t know what I’m doing in this video. I followed the directions written on the products I bought. If you want step by step instructions, I recommend looking up a tutorial and, preferably, by a professional hairstylist.
