Hi everyone! A few of you have mentioned that you've found the segment on making the hand a bit too fast to keep up with. Apologies for that! It was my first time making a tutorial so the pacing might not be perfect. I've made a little image of all the steps to follow for the hand which you can find here: imgur.com/a/edP5x8R I hope you find that useful and it helps you with the hand process! I'll try to improve my pacing and clarity in future tutorials as well 😊
I'm about to start this today, so I don't know if you went too fast, but just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to make this video and guide! ^^
Honestly this is the most relaxed and calm tutorial I’ve seen in a while. Usually I’m pausing every couple seconds to take in whatever they just spat out. So thank you!
Look, what you did is absolutely incredible. I've always wanted to try 3d modeling but Blender was too overwhelming to simply look at. You explained wonderfully step by step, with all the hotkeys and a simple cute model without overcomplicating anything. Now Blender isn't scary anymore! Thank you so much!
Wow thank you so much! I'm so happy it made Blender less overwhelming for you, that was always my goal with these tutorials. Good luck with 3D and I hope you enjoy my future videos too!
@@EveSculpts Yeah you're an amazing teacher. Following along with you is great! I love the simplicity you bring yet effectiveness. You make modelling fun
For anyone stuck on 24:13 do this! 1. make round cube 2. cut cube in half 3. go to object mode press shift s and select cursor to selected 4. do the mirror modifier! hope this helps!
Theres a couple ways you can fix this. Check where the origin of your geometry is, if its on the object send it to the middle of where you want to mirror the object.@@astikusumaputri8441
While all my friends start with a donut, I start with my own character! I was able to change a few things to fit with my human. But goes to show how well made this video is.
I'm just starting to learn character modelling but this seems like a tutorial that teaches so much more than the others I've followed so far! When I get time I'm gunna follow u through, for now I'll keep watching and listening 👀👀
When I won't have 6 zillion uni assignments, I will be trying your tutorial. Seems like you wrap up basic concepts that are useful to actually get it done. :3
Thank you for being the only person to explain why all these modelers are using round cubes. I never even considered the triangular faces in a sphere, and i was so confused why all my tutorials wanted round cubes instead.
at point 19:00 you can ctrl+r and then scroll your mousewheel to make more edge loops, that way its evenly distributed. just tip! i hope its useful! thanks for the great video!
22:01 the issue with the pupil glitching on the mirrored side can be avoided by scaling and rotating on edit mode instead of object mode. BTW, thanks for the tutorial
I’m in tears right now…my new job surprised me with 3D requirements and this video is helping me keep my job and open new doors for me!! Thank you so much!
Honestly this is probably the most approachable and helpful tutorial I've seen for character modeling that covers all the basics and handy moment-to-moment tricks of actually using the program. Awesome stuff!
Hey peeps just an update for people still trying to figure out why their round cube has a seam. Even after messing with mirror modifier. Right after you add the rounded cube the menu on the bottom left pops up and she tells you to make the radius 1.00 @3:35. Right above that where is says "Operator Presets" try restoring operator defaults. Once I did that it worked for me!
Thank you so much. I had to start over because I did not even notice there was a really big gap in the torso until I was 1/3 through the video.. I was so intent on following allong.
This is one of the first tutorials that really got me excited about Blender. And now I am getting paid to model some characters! I moved on to more high res sculpting, but for this project, I am using your method shown here. Thank you!
This is an amazing tutorial! The main advantage of it is not being overwhelming even for novices, so it's very easy to follow it. Thank you so much! It's better to see a complete workflow than trying to match a few dozens little tips.
If you are like me and seeing this on the 4.1, when you get to 4:50 marker for the shade normals step by right clicking and selecting shade smooth - you have to make sure you highlight all of the vertices to the left and then select Mesh > Normals > Merge.
I have watched tonnes of videos on blender and none of them really make any sense to me. the way you explained it, however, was just *mwah*! i totally get it now!
I'm only a few minutes into the tutorial, but thank you so much! I'm absolutely loving it so far, can't wait to give it a try myself next time I get the chance. I just wanted to skim it tonight, and was surprised at how easy to follow and informative it was. You're great at this, thanks again. EDIT: I decided to keep watching for a few more minutes and just shouted "What?!! That's so cool!" seeing how easily you created another mesh for the dress. Wow, I used to think 3d modeling looked so complicated and unfun, but you're making it look just the opposite. Can't wait to give it a try.
I'm really glad you've found it informative! Love seeing that my tutorials have helped make 3D less intimidating for you guys 🙌 Thanks for watching, hope you have fun when you try it out!
Absolutely one of the best Blender tutorials out there. Excellent tips on blender but also intro to topology (like “why” to keep roughly square-ish faces) where most others gloss over or don’t even mention. Love the pacing. At first glance the finished project sounds intimidating to a newbie like myself, but you show how it’s very approachable and not too tough at all. Everything gone over applies to loads of other ideas and projects. Very inspiring. Keep up the good work!
This is by far the best tutorial I've seen for blender, still relevant a year later. Went from never 3d modelling to making my first vtuber model in under a few weeks thanks to this!
Hi! I'm a 2D illustrator who's always been curious about 3D. I wanted to finally give it a try so I've been following your tutorial all day long and I just finished modelling your cute bunny character. I'm starting the second part of this series right now. I can't wait to finish it and send you the result! I really like your voice and the way you explain things, this tutorial has been super fun so far. Thank you!
this was a lot of fun, I definitely learned a lot! I had a lot of trouble doing some of the parts where it is more up to us, like modeling the hands and rotating and arranging the bags or eyes, it feels like I don't have enough control on how it rotates sometimes, but I'm guessing this part is just up to practice. Going to try part 2 now.
Thank you I'm really glad to hear that! I'll take note for future tutorials and show those areas more in depth so it's less trouble while following along. Tbh they are fiddly areas anyway so it takes a bit of time to tidy them up 🙌 I hope you have fun with part 2!
For anyone starting out and wanting to learn blender, this (at least for me) has been a great alternative beginner tutorial as opposed to the unanimous "make your own donut." Great stuff and keep up the beginner-friendly vids! :)
This is such a big help! I'm a beginner using blender and videos like these bring me motivation to do my own :D Thank you for this video! We hope to see more content from you
This was amazing! I used this to make a 3D model of my own character Moomoo! This not only made the process of modelling not intimidating, it made it fun and rewarding! (And I didn't get stuck fixing vertices that were broken for hours)
girl i subscribed so fast the moment u said the most reassuring thing i could ever hear atm ✨it's normal to feel intimidated by blender, but it's actually easy to pick up✨ i needed that thank u
for anyone following this tutorial today, in the mirror modifier for the head, make sure merge is checked, and then change it to around .1 Mine was two separate halves until i did that.
I don't know if I ever wrote a comment, but I tried your tutorial way before and I kept giving up, probably because it was hard to do limbs, but I recently did a Twitter commission, and I wanted to not only give him my character to put in a video, but I also wanted to make my model to be proud of my hard work, so I retried the tutorial, and had some struggle, but I'm making progress! Thank you for the tutorial. Not sure if you want me to follow you so I can share my work with you.
I love this tutorial and have a few tips. Instead of using a rounded cube I found it easier to work with a regular cube with a subdivision of 3. Just unclick optimized display in the modifier menu so you can see and manipulate the cubes vertices. Also right click and hit subdivide once more so you have eight vertices to manipulate instead of 4. Same results just easier to manipulate and comes out less lumpy. I'd also put a solidify modifier on the robe to offset it from the body instead of trying to fix it with sculpt tools so you don't have to worry about messed up topology and you can control the thickness of the robe. You'd be able to show off the cute arms you spent forever modeling ☺
this is probably my favorite blender tutorial! i'm new to blender and the classic donut tutorial is just too long and i find myself getting lost, this one is the perfect length and i can follow along with my own characters!
Instant subscribed! Amazing detailed explanation for the entire process, keep it up, you are already so much better than some of the RU-vidr out there who switch over Object mode/Edit mode without saying anything, or doing something difficult without saying pressing which keyboard button, and some even didn't enabled keyboard layout....
Thank you! I'm glad my explanations were clear 🙌 I was worried if I was over or under explaining while making this, it's always such a difficult balance
Just got into the 0:14 sec part and I can already tell it is a friking good tutorial!! by the stamps and all of that thank you so much I´ve been wanting to recreate some characters too into 3D it´s been rather rought to do it by myself .
Посмотрел с большим удовольствием) Видео сделаны очень здорово. Быстро, чётко и понятно. Сделаны очень профессионально, думал за плечами не один десяток созданных гайдов, но на канале их всего 4. Удивлён)
I am so happy that i came over your tutorials!🤩 I've been wanting to learn Blender for ages, but my mind have a tendency to "space out" whenever i've tried to follow RU-vid vidoes in the past🥲- but i somehow kept focus all the way through this time! 🤯Though i think it might be to the fact that you explain things really really well!☺(Bunny came out super cute! Though i think i accidently removed some vertices around the mouth area, cause my model seems to have weird lines there... kinda reminds me of that ghost-creature from the Chihiro movie. Two-face?🤣) But anywho, thank you very much for this series
i just want you to know, this tutorial was so much easier to understand than my professors ar university teaching maya. this is incredibly done, and super =helpful for learning blender! your voice is also very soothing and nice :3
at 3:24 adding a round cube under mesh, I don't have those options in the mesh submenu. edit: Never mind, I found it under Add-ons "Add Mesh: Extra Objects" if it helps anyone
Been watching so many of these tutorials and this is one of the best for the style I'm going for. a big *THANK YOU* for making this awesome and helpful content! It's very much appreciated :)
I really like how you explain how to do things along with your reasoning of why and how it will affect the project later on, some seriously pro tips in here.. you're easy to listen to and while watching your video I felt confident i could follow along.. However.. once I started actually following along I found myself pausing and backing up a lot.. I mean I REALLY struggled to keep up.. but otherwise this is a great video and I am definitely better for pushing through it. Thanks for your hard work! I will certainly try to keep following along!
Really nice explanation on every single little step! I am just learning blender and haven't yet heard from other people of some of the little tricks and tips that make things easier.
Incase you had trouble like i did when you were looking for the rounded cube * Its LESS WORK * EDIT> Preferences> Add Ons> Make sure enabled add ons is unchecked> search "ext" in search bar > check off add mesh: extra objects
This is one of the best tuts on pulling 3d out of a 2d image, and I teach this. Thanks... I actually hate having to brush up every couple of years, but you made it extremely easy to follow. Universal process but with less padding (mansplaining) that others do too much of.
holy sweet lord in the first 6, ***6*** minutes of opening this tutorial you have helped me immensely and i have been trying to find a decent tutorial to even help get me started on learning to model besides spaztically flailing around lol. and yes the model references have are two, side and front and it works REALLY well with that (and a far more complicated model but the principle is sound.) you deserve a full comment and like. (finding good pased tutorials for blender have been a trip and a half)
Wanted to say thank you. I have never really touched a 3d modeling program in my life(ok I poked at a few through the years but nothing serious or for long) But because I am an avid table top rpg fan I wanted to be able to model characters to print. As well design characters people commission me to create. Your steps are fairly easy to follow( For being a first time tutorial it was great)
This was really easy to follow. I did my own image and this helped out alot. Forming all of the shapes at the end for details is proving to be very difficult especially when trying to place them on the model.
waw, I'm a beginner, but I have to give you my massive thank you for being so clear, so precise, and on top of that ypou have a very good voice to listen to, very agreable!
When you subdiv surface modifier, you can always crease an edge to make it sharp instead of making more faces. to roughly get it to a point wherein it looks sharpened
this is a really nice introduction into 3D reference modeling. I had made a simple sword but that was 2D and then I extruded it to 3D. but now I know how to do 3D as well!
Hey, I found your channel on Twitter, congrats on your tutorials, you can explain things in an easy and clear way. I'll recommend you to some people that I know, who are trying to learn Blender. Love your characters btw!
what an amazing tutorial it's really helpful and easy to follow with a simple and cute character design it's easy to start modeling my own character that's less overwhelming in design
