I agree with you Fevir. Like any already failed mmorpgs in the past. One will get a few months (1-3 max) of fun. I wouldn't recommend buying more than the standard version to save $$$.

Hey, Fevir. I talked to you a bit on Reddit the other day, and I applaud you again for the good summary of the information received at the conference as well as explaining how it was generally perceived by the people watching. The only thing I think you may have missed was that pre-loading of the game is currently not confirmed, as all we got was 'We're working with Steam on this.' I feel that could be an important tidbit for people with varying internet connections considering the limited time frame of this head start for Founders. Keep up a good work, friend.

MetsysEU I dont see this as a bad thing. No AA, means no brainless attacking; no modding support, online games are not suppose to be modded; no trading means no gold sellers and no "helping out" to friends; pvp in fixed times during the day means less waiting time.

Well there is a lot of people like me whose main interest is playing pvp. Only being able to play that part of the game during fixed times of the day is kinda a dealbreaker for me

You do know the pvp them mentioned is the ranked stuff. You can still go out and pvp in the open world and I believe the 100 v 100 stuff that Ive heard about.

AvenMai No trading means no gold sellers? Are you serious? BDO has no trading and the same auction system as Bless and they still have gold seller spam. It doesn't stop it. It just makes gold sellers try different tactics. I had to block several gold spammers daily in BDO. Bless will be no different. They just alienated a big portion of their potential playerbase with this news. It's sad...

We're not talking about mob density in general. We are talking about areas where there are actually mobs already in the game on both KR Rebuild and Japan.

+Eric Soto They are korean developers who are publishing a game. Honestly speaking I am willing to bet money that it will not be significantly p2w. They have put so much effort into this version of the game, said it will not be p2w so many times, and are working hard with the community. These are all clear signs that this is not a cash grab. That and it's the developers themselves publishing the game (which shows in how they communicate) aka they care about the actual game WAY more than a publisher would. It is fine to be cautious, I am very cautious, but don't let your caution blind your judgement.

The P2W topic is honestly semantics at this point, the problem is how unclear the devs have left this topic by releasing pricing information for the different packs, and revealing that there will be a premium membership without explaining everything that membership includes. Withholding that information and waiting until release shows they still haven't decided everything included in "Convenience," that is definitely a red flag gamers have been burned by in the past and want to prevent. They also seem to have made "it's not pay to win, don't worry," their catchphrase, which is also concerning and probably causing more harm than good. If that were true and you were completely honest about it, there would be no need to constantly reassure people every time someone questions what convenience means, also another red flag. I agree with you TrueDPS it is best to withhold judgment until the the product is tangible, and afterwards remain cautious.

Eric Soto People are yearning for the next best thing in mmorpg land, but because an mmorpg has so many moving parts it will never be perfect. Perfect immersion, but p2w. No p2w but goldspammers and botters flood server. No p2w or goldspammers but added barbie, a maids outfits or 1000 and some cars to fully break immersion. There's always something that won't be handled well. But people could get baited in and then premium membership end up to be statboost, experience boost and all the other p2w crap and blind fan boys will let it slide. And that's why we can't have nice things. When there is no water thirsty people will drink sand.

+jamie050585 Why is that? After their press conference, it actually made me less worried about p2w. Everything they've been doing is a really damn good sign that they won't be resorting to p2w. The founder packs The optional subscription Those are both really good signs that they have a well thought out and a viable business model. You should have been worried if they didn't announce an optional subscription and if they had iffy founder packs. Both of those things show that their only revenue source is NOT a cash shop and b2p, which quite frankly would be pretty difficult to be viable for such a massive game that cost a ton to make. So yes, these things are good signs my friend, I know that your knee jerk reaction is "oh shit the developers want MORE money!?! P2W CONFIRMED!" but that simply isn't the case. We will see when the game actually launches, I still have my doubts and concerns, but I have no idea why people are sweating bullets over these two things as they are both good signs.

MMO's have to change, they need to do something different. Whatever _it_ is - we just need to see something that's refreshing _and_ keeps our interest for longer than 3 months.

I've been told several times over the past couple of days that I fit that bill of feeling entitled to not pay. I don't speak for anyone but myself, so I'm sure there are people who feel entitled to not pay for their own reasons. I'm a longtime FF14 player as well, fairly burnt out and was hoping to pick up Bless. I have zero issue with a game that is B2P + Cash Shop. I have zero issue with a game that is B2P + Cash Shop + Sub. I have an issue with a game that is B2P + Cash Shop + Optional Sub. Mostly because an optional sub has benefits that give an advantage to those who pay the price to subscribe. While that doesn't seal the deal for me that I won't play Bless, it's a red flag and them skirting around the question doesn't help put me at ease at all. It's not that I won't pay a sub, in fact I'd prefer it if they came out and said that Bless would be B2P with a sub that everyone has to pay and no one gets any perks for subbing. I'd prefer that over an optional sub with "convenience." So it's not that I don't want to pay, in fact I'll happily pay. I'm actively paying for a sub right now. I just don't want to pay to have an advantage over other players. Just my two cents. I look forward to hearing more about the what the optional subscription has to offer and I've definitely not ruled out Bless yet, but I'm definitely not feeling confident about Neowiz and how they've handle it thus far.

its not that people are feeling entitled to not pay. its that the devs are looking like they are trying to sneak in a pay to play model in a buy 2 play game. sure you can say its 'optional' but thats not a decision you should be having to make in a game that you supposedly already bought. thats what everyones got issue with and rightfully so. the whole point of premium subscriptions is to keep a game running that's otherwise free to play. but this isnt free to play you have to buy it first. thats the scrutiny people aren't ok with. And then theirs the whole "convenience" thing they are talking about for the subscription... i dont know how much 'convenience' they are going to be locking behind a premium account but if people are already buying the game, especially for 200 freakin dollars... they should NOT be having any conveniences denied to them ever.... otherwise, thats like buying a brand new car and paying it in full up front but only getting half the seats its supposed to come with, no cup holders, no AC, and no spare tire unless you pay a 'monthly subscription'.... have i nailed my point yet?

Ill be happy to explain why Dalvyn. Here's the deal.... in the MMO world, people invested ALOT of time in other MMOs. so for them to be willing to pry themselves away from them (like WoW for example), the other game has to really have its stuff up to par. And the sad fact is, most mmos dont. at best, you get something that is "just as good maybe" or "good enough". but people aren't looking for "good enough", they're looking for BETTER. And why shouldnt they? after almost 20 years, we should be seeing much more advanced MMOs yet its stayed to same or even became shallower in depth with just prettier graphics. And truthfully, Bless isn't looking to be 'better'. In fact, throughout this video, i couldnt help but make a mental checklist of what this game doesn't give or have that WoW - a game that's literally well over a decade older than this game - does give. and this is what has alot of people upset about because that games is almost 20 years old and yet we can't be bothered to do mmos that have everything it has and more yet? Also, This is the inevitable outcome of over-hyping any video game. it doesnt matter if its good enough, if you dont make the game live up to the hype you've raised, people will be upset. and this MMO is hands down the most hyped mmo of the year. Not only that, alot of the important answers, even with less than a month away from launch, remain still only half-answered or not answered at all which always raises red flags. because that's almost always a sign that they are hiding something they dont want the public to know yet. Its basic business logic that you want to promote the strengths of a product. If something truly was good and what people want, they wouldn't be hiding it, so the fact that they cant or wont answer properly and trying to give a blanket statement is telling people they want to hide something they know the gaming community wont like so much. Adding to the fact that this game has already a history of failing multiple times in other countries, and you have a recipe for alot of raised cautious eyebrows and frowns. People have dealt with and been fed up with the notorious pay to win quick cash grab games so they keep a sharp eye for it now. especially with any asian MMOs as they have an extremely bad reputation for this. I myself can testify on their disappointment from my own experience with MMOs as ive played almost all of them at this point and the most frustrating thing is seeing this game thats supposed to be much newer and more advanced yet isnt.... I mean, that so called "improved combat" alone makes me personally want to barf... its so clunky... even now i can see theirs just no fluidity and looks incredibly boring. So... i know this is a GIANT response and my apologies for not condensing it more, but i'm sure you can now have an idea of why people are disappointed.

I understand the critique of many things, and I knew a lot of what you mention here. I don't think Bless has done anything that should get people hype. My confusion though is mostly based on recent announcements and peoples reactions, tons of people just now deciding to give up on Bless because of the payment model when as of now it seems fine enough. There isn't any reason to be excited for this game other than it being something new but I don't get how this payment system announcement has literally started such a controversy in the already small community. Most of it seems fairly obvious to me.

ill enlighten that part regarding the payment model for you too. you see, buy 2 play and free 2 play models are two completely different monsters when done right. the whole point of a subscription in a game is to help pay for a game that would otherwise be free. however, in a buy 2 play, the game and what its worth should already be payed for so their should be no need for a subscription to keep feeding the machine as Buy 2 play is all about getting money when they introduce new content and bring in more players. GW and GW2 are great examples of a buy 2 play done right. with that being said, here's part of where the problem comes in... they are trying to do both instead of choosing one or the other. they are trying to sneak in a free to play model in a buy to play game. which means despite buying the game fully already, they are going to deny the bells and whistles unless you keep paying a monthly subscription. That's like fully paying upfront for a brand new car and getting only half the seats, no cup holders, no AC, not even a spare doughnut tire and emergency jack, unless you keep paying a monthly subscription for that car. doesnt seem right? Now, truthfully we dont know what's entailed in the subscription and what's going to be locked behind it...... that founders pack that they are charging $200 for, people are going to want to know the FULL details of what they are buying into before they drop that kind of cash. Like for example, how many months of subscription do they get for those more expensive founders packs? how important of a roll will they play in their gaming experiance? if having a subscription proves substantially better than without, and if they know they will want to stay on that subscription, it only makes sense then for them to capitalize on that with a founders pack that gives a LONG subscription time on top of whatever cool toys or unique skins that go with it. But if it doesn't and is just mediocre to the point where youre just like, "meh, its 'ok' but i dont need it to enjoy the game", then they probly will feel less inclined to buy the founders packs. But since the devs refuse to give clear answers and information to what their Monetization and what their subscription will truly entail, we are forced to just play the game when it comes out and see it for ourselves. But there's a catch... and this is where the REAL controversy comes in.... those founders packs, are not going to be available forever, they will only be available to buy for a limited time before or at launch. Which means that since they wont give you answers about the subscription and what it fully entails, which also means you dont know how valuable those founders packs really are... youre being forced to roll the dice and hope they are worth it. In short, its the 'carrot on a stick' tactic. a tactic that they can very easily 'bait and switch' you with. as it can either prove an investment or a huge waste of money depending on how important the subscription will be which is why they are holding out on the information. "maybe its worth it, maybe its not. you players will just have to buy them and find out because we arent telling :)... *wink*wink* ;)". When people blow that kind of money, they want to KNOW what they are buying into and when they are deliberately holding out important information like that which a consumer needs in order to make a proper informed decision on, then that is the very definition of a scam.... this is why it has the controversy it has. Don't even for a second, buy into any inclination that they haven't decided what they'll do yet. the game is being released less then a month away. their is no way something as integral to an MMO as that, would not already be done i assure you. they are deliberately holding out for reasons stated above and everyone knows it.

honnorgaurd FF14 does basically the same thing though, you have to buy the game, buy the expansions, And on top of that pay a monthly subscription which is why I don't see why it's so weird to have an optional subscription in Bless. They have stated it's just costumes and an exp boost and I don't think that's a huge deal because when it's all said and done everyone is the same once you hit max level.
