A Message from the Founders of Haiti’s Future
Hello! We are brothers Valencov and Jeanba Michel and we are the founders of Haiti’s Future. Our grassroots movement started from our sincere desire to help educate Haitian children left behind by the education system. Our modest beginnings started with a learning center in an abandoned building in 2020. Many of the children had never attended school before. Others had been forced to quit school because their parents could not afford school tuition. Through grassroots fundraising, we were able to provide the children with a free quality education and nutritional lunches.
Since that time, our grassroots movement has continued to grow thanks to our loyal supporters (our Day One’s, as we affectionately call them). In 2021, we launched Haiti’s Future Academy (HFA), educating 75 children ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. We relocated to a new building and began the next phase of the social movement: providing our students with a quality STEM education and ESL training. We firmly believe that solid English and tech skills (like computer coding) can help to break the cycle of poverty and provide students with unlimited career opportunities.
