Born and raised w/a retired coal miner (fm the coal/iron mines of NW Spain) for a father. he snored both ways ....in and out.....NEVER got used to it.....I pity those condemned to share the sleeping place w/a snorer.....Thank u!!

Great fun! Never heard of a bothy but was good to see some audience interaction on this one!

Yep the interaction is a new angle. I was even pondering the possibility of asking the FB followers where or what they want me to do a film about.

If I turned up to a bothy and someone had a guitar... I'd sleep outside lol

Very good tips. Earplugs and hanging up your food. Faces in the windows is a bit creepy and odd. Nice job.

Informative video. Yep, earplugs. Too many nice evenings followed by sleepless nights due to others snoring. I've sometimes had to stay and snatch a few hours sleep the next day after the others have moved on. I always take a tent and, even if the bothy has ample space, I will often have a much better night in my tent. And, if using tealight candles, best to take some dead ones away with you as plenty of people bring them but apparently few remove them. Oh, and your whiskey bottle wasn't big enough to pass round ;-)

+Ctrl-Z Good point re' the candles. There were loads of 'dead' ones in that bothy.

Cool review that thanks. Might start staying on some soon, keen on the bike and want to do the odd stay over. Just not a fan of carrying too much kit.

Yeah I know what you mean. I find I still prefer camping though....which does mean carrying all the kit :( I tried a bivvy bag last autumn and that was much lighter, but I missed having the personal space as it was a bit claustrophobic.

Some very good points there Ben, I think you would have liked the bothy I recorded in one of my video's. It was very clean and tidy and also had lot's of firewood. Atb Glenn.

Ta but I can't take the credit for them. They were all contributions on the FB page :) Did your bothy have anyone else in it?
@SouthWestWildernessScotland

Benvironment No there was nobody else there when we went into the bothy. I was out for a walk and I just in for a few hours with my sister as she had never seen a bothy before. The video is on my channel and it is called A walk and a brew in at the Bothy. Atb Glenn.

Lovely video - I'd add a trowel with the bog paper..... (bury it!). Regarding coal, a few years ago one Hogmanay I agonised for ages whether to carry in coal or whisky from Loch Arkaig to Kinbreack bothy, and elected for coal. To my delight, three boys from Edinburgh arrived with a bottle of whisky, which they shared with me as I had already lit my coal fire! Result! Oh and BTW, I was maintenance officer for Burleywhag bothy for a few years, and would endorse your comment about reporting problems. Unreported problems don't solve themselves.
@BenvironmentBlog
@BenvironmentBlog 3 года назад
Yeah that's true, we're all too keen to 'walk on by' and assume that someone else has reported a thing. c

Just stumbled across this video. Recognise the bothy as I stayed there two weeks ago. Did you climb Seana Bhraigh that time?
@BenvironmentBlog
@BenvironmentBlog 6 лет назад
Nope, just cycled in....stayed a couple of nights and mooched about in the glen....then cycled back :)

You need more toilet paper and much more whiskey.
@BenvironmentBlog

Ha ha! I'll definitely need the former if I have a load more of the latter ;-)

Scottish whisky is more appropriate than Irish whiskey.
