Great videos, Loved just watching two experts talk and explain everything we use. One thing I was thinking about as I got to the end is it's going to be someone difficult to backtrack through all the videos to find maybe recommend settings. How about a follow up short video going over the things we should tweak?

Wow. So the ESC works as a turbine battery charger if just signal it zero throttle and turn the motor with wind. The ESC will try to stop the prop by dumping the energy into the battery!

With regards to Brake On Stop, I’ve the default of Off, but wonder if it makes sense to have 100% so when you disarm above grass, the props stop before it mulches the grass and sprays it all over the quad?

brake on stop is a little risky and has killed ESCs in the past.

I think it is not what it is doing. A regenerative breaking does short two phases until a lot of amps are flowing and build up the em field on the coils, than opens the circle to let the running charge from the coils build up voltage and than it is using this voltage. For breaking you only need to short them.

I set beacon to 1min and the volume to 100. Never had an issue or burnt anything.

No, not really. Maybe if you disarm in midair then rearm it would take longer.

I tried BLheli32, but it will not read any of my esc's.. How do I troubleshoot, or fix the communication? I already tried the impulse RC driver fixer..

@ Joshua so.....the part from minute 2:23 to 3:53 explains why my self locking props hit the ceiling during testing on a rig , testing the motors with Mission planner the motors STOP before the props even know it.. .... :-) .....should have listened a bit better but this on/off thing is confusing for non native English people !! ..( no damage done btw)..to be 100% sure ..."Non Damped Mode should be ON ?!...to get freewheeling stop ?..lost again !!.

I have a racerstar RS30A and i cant turn off damped braking, there is no option in BLHeli! Does anyone know if it can be turned off using the transmitter and esc bleeps? Your probably thinking why would he want to turn it off? The ESC is on a fixed pitch heli and the damped braking transmits large torque forces into the heli as it forces the large rotor set to slow to quickly on throttle reductions and can yank the helis main body round by as much as 70-90 degrees before the tail brings it back in line again :( I use to fly on another esc which did not do this and its taken some getting used too and i have to be very careful at how fast i reduce my throttle now and really want to turn it off if i can or i will have to replace the esc with something else.

Are you on the latest firmware? Blheli_32 used to not allow braking to be turned off but I think they changed it.

@@JoshuaBardwell it's a blheli_s esc (G-L-30 type), not a 32 esc. I've tried all firmwares from the oldest to the newest and none support damped braking control but it's active on the actual esc! The option is in the blhelisuit version I'm using before connecting and reading the esc but dissappears once the esc Config has been read. This obviously means that those functions are not supported in blhelisuit for that esc but the damped braking is a stated specification by racerstar for that esc and it's most definitely active so Im hoping that there is a throttle programing method to turn it off. I've searched and can't find any instructions on the bleep menu, it supports tx throttle programming but without knowing what each bleep group means I can't do anything :(

What am I missing? I downloaded the latest blheli32 suite. 32.6.8 and i do not have some those options . Especially current protection. Im using a clr4 , ak32.

If the ESC doesn't have current sensing, then it can't do current protection.

Oh thanks! I figured something like that was it. @@JoshuaBardwell. Your videos are always so useful . Thanks to them I solved my dysnc on my rooster now 6s. I could go back to my no throttle curve settings . Full throttle now . doesn't desync at all with .... Demag set to High and motor timing to 23. I'm using a rooster frame , 2207-2450kv, clr4,ak32 , 1250-6s 80c. Them motors scream like never before amazing!

@@JoshuaBardwell in the beginning of this video. But I remember that there where more modes on older blheli versions. Props are damped on speed when you lower the throttle.
