Problem is: there are NO bands LIKE Blind Guardian. I fell in love with their music at the age of 12, and since then, there has been no band like them. NOT ONE. no matter how good the others are.
@@enriquefelixberrio7108 You cant compare Queen and Blind Guardian. Queen has paved the way for a whole genre including its subs, but you cant compare the bands styles. In the Heavy Metal headgenre, BG are in a league of its own, as are Queen in their respective fields (as not only one thing applys to them)
So true and also sad D: Hansis voice is unique .... no one can sing like him and NO other band has a style that comes close to BG :/ When this band dies a great part of power metal dies with them ... but the bard's songs will remain :)
Eeeh… Maiden honestly started really sucking after 1987, with the only exception being The X-Factor because they dared to explore new sounds and its superb music
It's kinda funny to watch this because I just think of them as the Silmarillion characters and I keep expecting to actually see Melkor and Ungoliant singing...
out of every band that could have ever been Lord of the Rings based I'm thrilled that it's a band that is not only amazing, but just as good, if not better, live
Haha no kidding. Probably the best sounding concert dvd I own. You can hear everything clearly - the guitars, the vocals, the drums, and the crowd. Pretty much flawless.
@LMTR14 IMO, Nightfall In Middle Earth changed BG for the better. But I guess our musical opinions differ. Either way I love all metal and will support similar metal bands FOREVER! \m/>.
This guys should make concert albums only. Seriously, every fucking song from them turns from "meh" to "holy shit this is a masterpiece" after watching live version for me
Bling Guardian is one of the few metal bands i have ever heard , that i like the live versions of their songs more than the studio ones xD... They get much more "filled" and "heavy" with the crowd ,etc And ofc a great example is into the storm , if anyone has heard the studio version would understand this:P . BG OWNS \m/
Before someone takes of naoaceitawhatever's comment - Hansi can for sure sing the high notes live. Sure he sometimes drops down an octave or sings counter melody, but his style of singing is much more abrasive and demanding than some of the more "clean" power vocalists' styles. Surely you cant expect him to keep it up night after night for months? And it gives their live shows a raw edge, suits the epic war-torn content of their music perfectly imho anyway.
This has got to be the best live show opening songs of all time. Possibly the best album opening track of all time too. And the best power metal album of all time. From the best power metal band of all time.
@TheFourthDefender I don't think they all started off like that. Look at how rap and ipup has suffered in the last decade. It's really the suits who've managed to create that mindset. Between the Managers, media, and the oddball stars, it's hard to keep one's head straight. I'm kinda clag Bling Guardian isn't as huge as it should be, otherwise it may of lost that magical touch it has.
@feinster500gzucker the studio's are confined. Since its an enclosed space, there is a weird change in the sound that is subtle. Also live performences also benifit from the crowds positive support, dunno why but it gives good vibes.
I can't really say I dislike any of their albums. Good bands are able to develop over time, and change their sound, bringing something new with every album. Blind Guardian have remained awesome throughout their career.
@VorTexXHUN Eh, I've only seen (actually been to) one live DT concert, in 2005 and while the show itself was kickass, it's true that Labrie was mediocre. I... sort of liked Octavarium, mostly just Root of all Evil and Octavarium. I prefer the heavy metal DT to the proggy DT (even though I liked the old proggy DT), but even then I found most of SC to be a huge wreck (I only like ItPoE... I sort of like Forsaken and Ministry, but eh) and as I said, Black Clouds was a big piece of crap.
@lolpawnage Before the food poisoning he was OK. Hell, I even listened to "Awake" thousand times and I would say that his voice was an organic part of those songs, but he was a cathastrophic live singer that time too :) On the topic of the new DT: I think Octavarium was a nice album (easy chill out music for wannabe prog fans, as I would descibe it), SC had two songs I could listen to (Forsaken, Dark Eternal Night), but I couldn't care less about their latest material nowdays.
@VorTexXHUN Labrie's voice before the whole food poisoning/vocal cord ripping incident was pretty damn great. The current Labrie, I have mixed feelings. Sometimes he sounds great, sometimes he sounds weak, indeed. I can see why having a better vocalist would make them better as a whole, but then again, James doesn't write a lot of the music and to be quite honest, I have more of a problem with the crap they've been composing lately than with the quality of the singing.
@VorTexXHUN Could you develop on why he sucks? I'm interested in your point of view. And in my opinion, DT has been getting worse and worse. Half of Systematic Chaos was garbage, and let's not even mention BC&SL. I can't believe a once-brilliant band like DT wrote that terrible record. I'm not really sure as to how the band is going to change with Mike gone, but I sure as hell hope they start writing better stuff, in the vein of Scenes from a Memory or Images and Words.
Northfulton, Hetfield? Really? I love me some old Metallica, but Hetfield is like amateur hour in terms of pure vocal talent. Try some Eric Adams, Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, and company.. Four octave wonders get there. Hansi doesn't have quite as much range as some, but his singing style is quite epic, and suited to the music, and he's certainly as talented a singer as anyone I've heard.
kinda hard to believe that sumone likes sumthing as well i wont rant but dragonforce is not good at all even before they became such a sucess blind gaurdian are well their blind guardian nuff said but its cool to like dragnforce better no hate here metalheads shouldnt fight each other even if dragonforce is well no comment my fellow BG fans have said all thats needed to be said...
ya you just gotta love how blind guardian can get the crowd really riled up its magic if youve ever been to one of their conecerts you feel likes there sum super charged energy in the air...and to the guy who said dress metal i say to you wtf?! metal is about wearing w/e shirt w/e jeans and having your hair like w/e and just going out and enjoying the music metal is music for people who dont give ahsit about looks we come togehter to headbang and enjoy the best genre ever concived by man
@OneLeggedPuppies2010 I have the same problem, but not because of when I was born. I just don't really find out about bands until after they've already peaked. But it's OK, because the songs are all recorded and will live forever thanks to digital technology. Blind Guardian will NEVER DIE!
Agree with Atremious.. @vguyver, BG is -huge.- Even here in the States where they're significantly less well known, they're still quite popular. I mean, they did the theme for the game Sacred 2, and the game gave them a full in-game "concert" cinematic. That's pretty classy.
Yeah, pretty much all I listen to is power metal. My friend showed me DragonForce a couple of years ago, my first learnings of power metal, and I've loved it since. I was gonna do a bunch of Blind Guardian covers but I don't have anything that freaking takes videos.
plain and simple you cant compare something as great and awesome as blind guardian to something as over hyped and generic and completely dull as dragonforce only people who actually like dragon froce are guitar hero no lives and people with bad taste in music
Mine is the one I said haha I dont know, its possible, but I doubt it. Cuz it starts like a big musical, all the charcaters introducing at the beginning. At least thats how I see it. I doubt the Balrogs have to push through a "dark age".
@OneLeggedPuppies2010 Relax, buddy, it is very possible u enjoy BG for many years yet. Even "the who" and "deep purple" still on tour (or making some shows). Blind Guardian can live easyly more 10 years!
Hansi is a fine singer . Probably some people think he can´t sing high because of he doesn´t have a clean voice , like André Matos perhaps. Anyway, Hansi's voice is very powerful indeed.
Oh,i've read it dude!Infinite stories too,and some other books(Narn I Hin Hurin etc)Yeah, the movies where in fact a lot diferent...Im gonna check now the anime,ty for the advise
Now that I think about it, I'd have to agree with you. I just think that they have dynamic range. Are Helloween still together? I haven't heard much from them in a long time.
The comment is too long so here's part 1: Blind Guardian Children of Bodom Dragonforce Dragonland Dream Theater Hammerfall Iron Maiden Mastodon Rage Against the Machine
I think Blind Guardian are a lot better than Gamma Ray. Gamma Ray is too boring for me. I listened to two albums one after another and didn't know the songs had ever changed. But that is only my opinion, your entitled to yours also.
Serious all those abbrevations don't make any sense. DT with BF on BJ who sucks a big C... I read 5 pages of comments and couldn't make any sense of them XD
@assbean182 That may be because most metal bands actually take it seriously and play music for music, unlike all these pop idols who only see music as a business.
@OneLeggedPuppies2010 Don't worry, now we have Dragonforce to take over their places!!!! /cruelsarcasm I'm sorry, that was uncalled for, I do apologise.
Yeah, I'll include those, but I'll also include ZP Theart, the singer from Rhapsody of Fire, and Tarja Turunen on the list of best power-metal singers. Not calling them better or worse.
Am I the only one who thinks their live performances are vastly superior to their albums? If i discovered them by the albums I don't think I would even enjoy
